One of life's cruelest tricks is letting you slowly go up the product stacks over the years, until you finally reach the top where you can play everything at the highest possible frame rates, but then you don't have time for games anymore because you're a dad with a full-time job 😔

I can't help but notice that for many gamers the 'last' and still as important thing is audio. Don't forget to save budget for some nice sound whether it be speakers or a headphone/headset setup. This makes many RPG games more immersive and give you an edge in the e-sports titles by hearing your enemy before seeing them.

The biggest thing I learned is that if you buy the right PC, you will get an amazing pc for gaming and productivity and media consumption scenarios. I was going to buy a console and a new PC in 2021 and ended up buying a Corsair Pre Build with a Ryzen 7 5800X and RTX 3070 instead of two different devices. I added a 2TB SSD and memory to upgrade it to 32GB. I've got two devices in one - an amazing device to build content and work from - and play games. I wasn't focused on FPS - just wanted to play Flight Simulator. F1, and some other games. It feels like driving a ferrari every day when I work from it!

    • @Arcaryon
      @Arcaryon Год назад

Imo. a big question is if you can reliably plan on upgrading a lot later. The best thing about a PC is that it’s flexible but the worst is that the markets for the products are often extremely volatile and with there being so many variants that can go wrong, often, this is what happens.
I think it’s good not to cheap out IF one plans to using the system a lot because it can seriously make one’s life a lot better if the system is not just decent enough but absolutely stable 100% of the time but overspending is a serious concern and patience is a virtue. Also, being overly cautious is not enjoyable because whenever you buy, a few months later, the current big thing is cheaper and this can spiral into constantly looking into upgrading. If one drops say, 2500$ on a full tower ( far from cheap it also far from totally outrageous) and plans on using it at least for, say, 5 years with minimal changes, that’s 500 / year which is pretty alright. If one however purchases for say, 1500$ which is perfectly reasonable but then upgrades twice for “just” 500, one is already at 2500$ again.
Not to mention that due to inflation, this can mean that one can end up getting the same system despite paying the same price one could have paid initially, if one gets unlucky or one has to wait for a long time for prices to drop again.
Overall, I think getting the timing just right in terms of one’s personal patience and the market is therefore perhaps the most important thing, aside from knowing what one actually needs.

Am in the process of building a new PC. I reckon the whole build will cost me about £1630(unless there is a sale or something) and that is before I even think about adding a graphics card and a monitor, that could add another £700-ish(depends on what monitor I choose to buy or I could just continue to use my TV as a monitor) to the cost. With a graphics card I am looking at the best part of £2000 and I already spent about £400 on case, motherboard and PSU. About to spend in a month £640 on some fans, CPU, cable extensions and other stuff. Still need to spend after that £600 on memory, NVMe drive, more fans and Windows 11.

will just be playing games like Ark and 7DTD GTA and few others, so a 1660 should be fine always if i should go for 2060 or something like it but think i'll keep it simple and stay with 1660. But watching your vids makes me wonder. Keep them coming. maybe now i you touched a little on frame rate for graphics but what about what size of screen you have.

What I want from a new gaming pc:
    - 5 years worth of future proofing, i.e. being able to play new games for that time at decent settings.
    - good consistent framerate and latency
    - I want the RGB case behind you that does tetris. I think its very nice aesthetically if your tower is colourful like that.
    Nothing else really matters.

Another fantastic video mate. I'm looking to build another PC, with about £4500/€5000 budget. Would you grab a RTX 3090 Ti or wait for the RTX 40 Series? My goal for gaming is playing games at 4K 60-120fps for single player games and 1400p with 120fps and higher for online games.
    Any thoughts? Cheers!

2:17 It's not called 4K because it's 4 times 1080p. It's because horizontally there is 3840 px which rounds to 4K. 1080 is 2K because the horizontal pixel count is 1920 which rounds to 2K. 1440p has 2560 px horizontally, which could be called 2.5K

I want to build a sim racing pc having been using Assetto Corsa on PS4 up to now. I want it to be reasonable future proof and immersion is important so I’ll want to be turning up the graphics. I’d love to see a build that would deliver what I’m after - can you, or anyone else help me out with a spec?

If you want something capable of playing a demanding game like ACC at 1440p ultrawide and up to 100FPS you'll want at least 3060ti, up to 3070ti, on a Ryzen 5 5600x and 16gb ram 3600mhz cl16
AC is easier to run as its older but mods do start to increase the load on the hardware

I mean, I have a perfectly good 1080p 60hz TV and monitor that I still want to use; I’m completely satisfied with still using those as displays for my eventual first build. So I feel that getting an i5-11400F with a 3060 Ti is gonna be perfect for me.
EDIT: A lot of the replies are saying to go above 1080p 60hz. I certainly will at some point, but keep in mind that nearly all of my gaming experiences were on consoles. I guess I’m so used to 1080p60fps that I haven’t even thought about resolutions and framerates beyond that. But I guess my eyes will be opened soon enough. It would be cool to have a triple monitor setup.

Cooler - msi mag core liquid 360r v2
Hdd - 4tb seagate barracuda sata
    SSD - samsung 980 pro 2tb
    Ram - corsair vengance 32gb lpx/rgb or 3600mhz cl16 crucial balistix
    Case - y60 in white
This will be my first from scratch build :) I’ve done upgrades on my current pc but nothing more. Currently running a 3800x cpu and a 5700xt GPU :)

Don't cheap out on a power supply. Before buying components, list out the TDP of every component and add them. Then add about 100 - 150 watts extra to the total TDP and buy a power supply accordingly. If you are on budget, modular doesn't make sense, go for non modular but from a good brand like coolermaster, evga Asus or Corsair. Do your research before buying. But again DONT CHEAP OUT ON POWER SUPPLY OR YOU MIGHT SEE YOUR PC ON FIRE MID-GAME.
