im actually really really enjoying the channel right now! it feels like hanging out with an older wise buddy listening to car stuff and getting good life advice and some good humor in there too. id say you can mix in more humor even. i really love the mr2 and i cant wait to see the scirocco! i had an 86 one that was a gem. I restored it to all oem spec and spent a ton of time wetsanding and buffing and polishing the paint and detailing the whole car and interior.
I really rather enjoy these videos of watching you get stuff done in your shop on the everyday man budget, nothing fancy but it's still quality and presentable. Really gets me motivated to get back to work on my own project cars. Hope y'all are having a fantastic day.
I feel like I’m hanging out with you man. It’s good to hear older people who have experience talk and give advice. I love this channel man. The problem in life, is we get old to soon and wise to late.
7:20 , shoe stores used to sell a copper brush for suede shoes... I found them on eBay for cheap ,, you also want to use a natural rubber eraser on it... hand soap can get rid of the skin oil that is embedded.
@@CaseyPutsch You mentioned to me before so thought you'd appreciate it. This will be my 6th. One more before Summer on Lake Erie. Love your MR2. Should have bought a Spyder last month 87k miles, $5800
Love the MR2 and stoked for the Scirocco! I love old 80's and 90's imports. I know these are not totally what your channel is about, but I appreciate you taking a moment to highlight the kind of everyday heroes that are very much capable and can get people into grass roots motorsports cheaply.
@casey putsch why not reach out for AMMO NYC for advice on the paint. Heck since its for Genius Garage who knows he might want to collaborate with you?
Sweet information, Casey! Esp about the drilling out of rivets. And the whole wire brush thing, freaking good stuff! I'm loving the way the channel is going. Keep making it grow! And seriously, keep up the slightly less than PC humor. "Casey, you're great never change! "- signed like a highschool year book, Walker
You can get a suede brush from a shoe store, which is made with copper bristles and is excellent for cleaning and restoring suede. It's a gentler material than those steel wire bristles used in the video here, and the process can be repeated more times, therefore extending the life of the wheel. I restored a used and badly funked up MOMO wheel with a brush and some elbow grease, to good results.
Can't wait for the dynamic driving videos over summer! I try to do my best to understand the forces behind how cars move, corner, break traction, etc. and do enjoy watching Team O'Neill for rally type driving tips, but I'm hoping I can learn quite a bit about road/road course performance driving if that's what you've got in mind. :D Loved this format for your videos too btw; feel like I'm learning/getting entertained while also watching you work. Your MR2 always catches my eye as well.
I really enjoy these garage videos. I do think, like others have said, that they're better when you actually accomplish something or work towards accomplishing something in the video, but even if you don't, and the video is mostly talking, I don't fine myself enjoying it less. I think you have been blessed with a gift of being enjoyable to listen to, whether you're ranting, talking about upcoming plans with cars, or being excited about something. And of course, it's not just that you're enjoyable to listen to, but you also have alot of good things to say and plenty of good tips to share, which I really appreciate.
It's a little refreshing to see you casually working your MR2 while we are trying to get one on the road that's been sitting for who knows how long in about 5 days.
One of things that's awesome is when I show people Casey's videos I hear the same thing again and again.... "Wow he actually shows you what has to be done and explains it it for normal people". Keep up good work Casey people are slowly starting to notice.
There's a product called Tuff Stuff foam. It's excellent at dissolving crud off interior parts. That and a stiff nylon brush should do the same job without damaging the suede.
Can't wait for you to address the high idle! My 3S-GE is idling crazy, and there's so much advice online about it, it's hard to know where to start. I know you'll approach it in a clear thinking way that will make sense to me.
I suggest getting a Mazda Miata to work on- the most raced car in the world, on a budget, with a huge number of parts available. See the written Road & Track article about their most memorable vehicles 2009 to 2019. For leather, I like a layer of Fluid Film spray from a Lowes store, then Mothers VLR spray made for vinyl, leather and rubber in car interiors. The Turtle Wax Trim Restorer is good for unpainted hard plastic inside and out, or to make something faded darker.
I'm definitely enjoying the winter shop series of Porsche & MR2 goodness. I'm just hoping you take that lovely woman who has the great stories about Churchill to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway so that she can take in the pageantry of the opening ceremonies to the Indy 500. I think she would really appreciate the tribute to our fallen soldiers & the patriotism that is Memorial Day weekend & The Greatest Spectacle in Racing!
great job Casey. i've been building transmissions professionally for 38 years, as a matter of fact, i'm at work right now. building a tremec T56 for a Mach 1. i enjoy learning new stuff and junk!! keep up the good work.
I bet you could do a real good thing on aftermarket wheels and the different adapters, since you seem to be really into steering wheels, Casey. (Also, steering wheel giveaways like that seem to be kind of fun, though I don't really think that red one would suit my own vehicle or maybe hands. I'm aiming more at an 80's retro kind of thing and I usually like em a bit more old-school in general, like leather-wrapped and not too fat. I was just kind of thinking of getting to changing out my Volvo's wheel cause, officially 25 year old airbag anyway, and doing a few things with like a footrest and pedal heights and all. :) I haven't really been in the market in a long time, usually I just sew one of those stitch-on leather kits on whatever stock wheel. :) )
Yeah, I think you should do a giveaway for the Sparco wheel. And also, I have been wondering where you got the leather jacket and if it has any history
I am probably wrong, but I'll put this out there... Camry V6 swap? From my research thus far, it is one of, if not the most affordable engine swap I've seen. When I say affordable, I mean cheap cheap compaired to any other swap I've ever seen. Mount kits andcomputer/wiring (very minimal needed) redily available.
i would junk that nrg wheel. when you cut into it youll be surprised how thin the metal frame is. all their non-wood wheels are just super cheap $30 ebay wheels they put their name on. i say use that sparco you just freshened up, its much cooler. if you really want red i think a momo ferrari challenge wheel (red suede) would be uber cool, depending on your budget.
Hey why don't you get that racing car spare parts place you went to, to be somebody and donate an engine for the indycar? wouldnt one of the chevy / ilmor cosworth 2.65 litre 4 cylinders from the 80s fit?
Un affordable and impractical projects are no fun. Love this episode. Hand drills suck!! The trigger should be on the back of the housing where pressure can push straight into the drill rather than at an angle then the other hand just guides and controls the torque.
16:49 And in other news Genius Garage was forced to change its name due to Casey huffing paint fumes in an completely enclosed garage... #protectyourbrainbro #braincellsmatter
I'd like to see you challenge yourself to rattle can the car, if done properly it can look great. You can't have a dinosaur and super cars in your garage and do plain jane work.
I remember a video of the Corvette in the corner. I believe my best friend would make for the perfect buyer. This kid is the hardest working person I have ever met, which is wild to say about a 17 year old. He grew up making hay just like his father and grandfather before him. They raised him into an incredibly respectful, hard working, trustworthy, and well carried individual. Skyler has always jumped at any chance to come help me with my vehicles. He and I rebuilt a mustang, working on a 1957 Chevy c3100 Stepside, and will then be taking on a 34 Ford coupe rat rod build. I've been looking for something for him so I can help him back. I think this Vette would make for the perfect car for my main man. I would love to build a trailer so he and I could haul it behind my 57 to car shows. I know for a fact he would make a great owner for your true blue American sports car and that he would uphold your requirements. My phone number is six, two, zero, two, five, five, eight, three, seven, two

I'm loving the shop vids! I'm learning alot of tips from you and really appreciate you teaching us all of the tips you've learned from racing.
7:20 , shoe stores used to sell a copper brush for suede shoes... I found them on eBay for cheap ,, you also want to use a natural rubber eraser on it... hand soap can get rid of the skin oil that is embedded.
GIVEAWAY!!! Yes please it’s a great idea. Whoever got it would love it.
Oh, the Scirocco crowd is going to get some love. Yay, us! I've had one (or two, or sometimes three) for the past 19 years).
Preparing to sail across the Bay of Biscay this weekend on the way to Madeira, the Caribbean and on to the East Coast.
NICE! I've sailed there myself.

Your jacket looks sharp
I love everything I see here!

AWESOME!!
Thsat Sparco would be great in my Corvair V8 project
When the rivets are the pop rivet type, you can punch out the middle part prior to drilling out the rest :)
There's a product called Tuff Stuff foam. It's excellent at dissolving crud off interior parts. That and a stiff nylon brush should do the same job without damaging the suede.
Seems like you are feeling better which is great to see. The MR2 project just gets more and more interesting. Keeping an 👀 on this for sure.

Nice 👌
recently bought a AW11 Mr2 project and first car was a 8V sirocco both i love super excited for future videos
good content as always. that jacket is fresh! I like the patina!

Light wire brush, saddle soap with water, air dry, light sand with 400 grit sandpaper. Shoe leather dye if needed.
crafts with casey
SEM makes an adhesion promoter

Thank you Kindly!
This is awesome!!! hey casey, you should look into building a 1987 toyota corolla GTS hatch! they are only going up in value and are really nice!
Wrap that baby. Probably could do it for less than $400. They have some awesome colors and finish.
I would have never thought to take a wire brush to suede. 🤯
I bet you could do a real good thing on aftermarket wheels and the different adapters, since you seem to be really into steering wheels, Casey.

I use leather dye on leather products. Saddle soap might have been a better option to rejuvenate the steering wheel.
Yeah, I think you should do a giveaway for the Sparco wheel. And also, I have been wondering where you got the leather jacket and if it has any history
Love the mr2 content. I have been considering getting a mr2 and building it into a street legal track car.
If the car stays black - leave the fender flairs the way they are, maybe polish/clear coat them, I think it will look sweet
How about getting a ae111 jdm 6 speed gearbox with Trd lsd and then you should start drifting the mr2
TIG those cans together with a small aluminum plate could then put a bolt up through to mount them?

Brass brush tears the material less that a steel wire brush. Sued brushes are/were finer brass wire.
install a kazoo in the exhaust

Casey Putsch what do you think about storm chasing?

I'm loving this MR2 build, Casey. So informative for an amateur car enthusiast like myself
Really enjoying the MR2 build, can't wait to see more of it!
Scirocco’s are one of my favorites!!!
The steering wheel shaves about 5 lbs from the stock wheel and adds about 35 horsepower. Nice job.
Facts make me moist.
I do enjoy your videos, thanks for taking the time and effort to make them.
it would be so cool if you would do exhaust as center exit like your viper, in my opinion at least
Did the scirroco come from Lancaster???
Alabama
You're removing material (suede) by using a metal brush. Use a hard plastic bristle brush like what they sell to restore suede shoes.
Hey Casey. What races for SVRA do you plan on running in
Maybe MidOhio and Indy and possibly Watkins Glen
Hey why don't you get that racing car spare parts place you went to, to be somebody and donate an engine for the indycar? wouldnt one of the chevy / ilmor cosworth 2.65 litre 4 cylinders from the 80s fit?
Because racing people are not philanthropic. Their focus is always "the royal me"
Looking forward to the VW Scirocco. An old girlfriend of mine had one. Ahhhhhh, the memories of misspent youth.
You need a Green Vise for Christmas 🤔
Un affordable and impractical projects are no fun. Love this episode. Hand drills suck!! The trigger should be on the back of the housing where pressure can push straight into the drill rather than at an angle then the other hand just guides and controls the torque.
I’ve been looking for a mr2 project car for over a month, they are becoming extinct!
🤨.....um steam and a rough terry cloth towel..... it's just hand funk
I may need that steering wheel for my mg (it has the big steering wheel on it). The original wheel is cracked and is splintering.
The paint on these are single stage from factory (unless you have a metallic or pearl color).
That wheels gonna get dirty fast. I ruined my Nardi in my mr2 with dirty hands.
Keep your steering wheel bud..
Your garage is getting pretty crowded...
Hold on a sec, what is that thing with white tires? Looks prewar?
He has this video on it : ruclips.net/video/P-yfYCRM4x0/видео.html
The hood is finished I have detailed for 20 years!
lol i started singing we built this table on rock and roll before you said it hahahah great minds think alike!

I would definitely like that’s refurbished steering wheel on the car I park in front of my double wide.
I remember a video of the Corvette in the corner. I believe my best friend would make for the perfect buyer. I've been looking for something for him so I can help him back. I think this Vette would make for the perfect car for my main man. I would love to build a trailer so he and I could haul it behind my 57 to car shows.
I know for a fact he would make a great owner for your true blue American sports car and that he would uphold your requirements.
My phone number is six,two,zero,two,five,five,eight,three,seven,two
Not to be a prick, but I think Casey's looking for someone that would actually drive the hell out of it, not have it hauled around on a trailer.
First video you are NOT "screaming" 🤣 thank god !!!! that's a videos i enjoy and could actually "hear" your point !!
casey just be yourself
thats really all we want to see
Dont I wear any other clothes lolol.
