Learning to fend for ourselves in terms of food harvesting feels like the right thing to do. After the last couple of years we really don’t have the same levels of confidence in food supply chains, fiat money or the governments ability to take care of all our needs and so we’re getting rid of some of that anxiety by taking matters into our own hands, and it’s so amazingly rewarding and liberating to do so too. 🙏🏼☺️

You have a dog that doesn't like the rain! I used to sail with my labrador, sadly passed on now, he could not get wet enough. If we were anchored near shore there would regularly be a shout of " Dog Overboard" as he struck out for the nearest tree. Gulls and ducks swimming past were a temptation just too far. Fortunately he did not have this problem in open water.

Brilliant, thank you for show casing the South West. Dominic mentioned recently about wearing hearing aids, do these interfere with your Sena SPH10 head sets? I am out to be issued with hearing aids and we are looking for head sets...thanks
Hey there. I (Dominic) nearly never actually wear my hearing aids, other than watching TV, so I have no idea if they interfere with the head sets. However, if you turn the head sets right up then I don’t imagine you’ll need your hearing aids in, depending on how dead you are I guess?
When they’re living off freshly caught lobster ,wild blackberries and apples , cooked on solar energy , and we have to go to the supermarket and pay massive energy bills , who’s the crazy guys now 😃🤣😂😜🍻
There are certainly days where we feel, and recognise that we are incredibly lucky to be able to live in such a sustainable way, especially with the great global economic picture looking so terrifying. Covid first shone a light on how vulnerable we were, as in when supply chains started grinding to a halt we realised that our food supply could just end and there’s little we could have done in that moment to continue to feed ourselves. Now the war in Ukraine is further destabilising global food supplies, inflation is destroying our money’s ability to purchase the amount of food that we’re used to, so with all of these things combined we felt an urgent motivation to be able to fend for ourselves and this is the start of that process. We still have many holes in our systems that need filling, but with each passing year we get a little bit more capable and a little less reliant on the whims of governments around the world. We also get vegans chiming in to tell us we’re terrible people all the time for daring to harvest our own food, but I’m not sure I’d want to put all my faith in ‘beyond burger’ having enough supply forever, it just feels far too vulnerable for us now. Hope you’re enjoying the journey unfold, Dave 🤞🏼⛵️😊
Thanks Pete, but I'm really just a keen beginner at this hunter gathering. The last two years have been so wild all over the world that we quickly realised that there's a good chance that we very well may need to be able to fend for ourselves soon. Hopefully not, but just in case, it feels good to be learning all of these new skills! Glad you're enjoying the videos 🙏🏼🦞🍄⛵️
Heya Carly, dom & and captain Hank. Just watching some of your previous films, I miss my boat. I’m having boat withdrawal, I’ve been all Xmas and only just feeling better today. Was planning on going off somewhere this week but nooooooooooooo. 🤢😤🥺🥺
Ha ha, I looks worse than it is, he spits the lobster out when you give it to him, and he diets on a product called butternut. His food is more expensive than ours! He eats well 👌🏼☺️
Do Miss CArly's cooking skills come from any schooling, or just from years of practice? She certainly looks like she knows what she's doing! Mr Hank just about sampled that wrap you were enjoying!! Ha!
Thanks to your AIS I know where you are now. How is back to winter reality treating you? Another good really watchable vid (although I think you were cooking on purchased gas but not complaining.)
Ha ha, that's a keen eye you have there, John. We have a mini gas BBQ which we like to use to cook up on the beach if fires are not allowed or don't look safe to have (huge dry forest nearby etc). On this occasion our battery bank was running low so we tapped into that cooker and made a note to be sure to add more solar for next year 🤣 Winter has started off fine, back to the grind. We both have jobs again and are working to save up for several large (off-grid) modifications for Cadoha, as well as all the usual upkeep and maintenance work, but we can't complain. Being able to have half the year off is very fortunate and working nearly every day for the other half of the year seems like a fair trade-off ☺️⛵️
I think Carly had some wine and I think I had a beer. Carly is the more sophisticated member of the crew, after Hank, of course, he looks down on both of us 😬
It didn't rain the entire time, we had some breaks in rain but then it was very windy, so between wind and rain we were pinned down for the first half of September essentially and we were going out of our minds with cabin fever 😫
Fabulous video guys… How do you get on with the Ninja?we got a 15-1 multi cooker for Christmas and haven’t used the oven since! Interesting to note that ours says not suitable for Marine use! I felt a bit sorry for poor Hank. Does he get to eat like a king or is he confined to Pedigree Chum?!
We do always have one on, I probably just filmed as soon as we dropped the hook, before any clouds could turn up and kill the shot 🤣, but we always tie a snubber line on with a rolling hitch from one of our forward cleats when we're done.
With your leather hat on and your close-up, I was reminded of the self-portrait of Vincent Van Gogh. I can't say for sure if this was one of my senior moments, or not! :¬) Webhead USA
@@CadohaAdventures we had a dog who would bury food he did not like. It was funny, he would beg for something and then stand by the door with it in his mouth if he did not like it waiting to be let out to bury it.
This is true, there's no way we could afford to eat lobster this often in 'real life'. In fact, come to think of it, we couldn't afford a home with an ocean view either so life on a boat is really allowing us to live in a way that's otherwise very much out of reach for mere mortals like us otherwise ☺️⛵️🦞
Enjoying your videos great balance, for your brain health I would ditch cooking with aluminium containers and get silicone liners or other alternative..
Charging taxes on foraging, jeez don’t go giving those big government lovers any crazy ideas there 😮😮 I’m for small government, big on freedom, and the more they can stay out of my business, the better, which includes any new taxes! 🤞🏼🤞🏼😬
We have been following you since your first episode and really like you style and content. One thing we do find frustrating with you and many other RUclips is the frequent claims to be “off grid”. There is no way any one with mobile phones, 4G/5G Internet, buying food and drink from shops, using consumer electronics/cameras/solar panels (mass produced and transported from China), drinking water either from marinas or from a mass-produced reverse osmosis device, diesel or even electric propulsion neither of which is without an impact on the environment, gas for cooking (a larger refillable bottle would be better and cheaper?) should claim to be “off grid” Clearly you are doing your best to reduce your environmental impact and by all means mention your efforts in this respect but please don’t jump on the band-wagon of claiming to be “off grid” you are better than that and such claims just devalue your other efforts.
'We're better than that'? That's an interesting thing to say. Well you seem to feel quite passionately about the subject so let's explore your logic and allow me to share my thoughts, because I wouldn't want you to think I've arrived at a place without giving it a deep level of thought. People seem to have varying definitions of what 'off-grid' means then? By your definition of the term, only a cave man who hunts with his bare hands is truly 'off-grid'? Your argument could be ripped apart by semantics if we follow your logic. Where did you get your tools from? your clothes? your toothbrush, you see how this goes? For us it's the ability to be unplugged from the mains power system for long periods of time, whilst producing our own water, energy and harvesting our own food. If we can live comfortably for many years without having to go and plug in and buy more supplies, then for us, for all intents and purposes, that is what I class as 'off-grid' (certainly for extended periods), which is what we're working towards. Basically can we build out systems that meant that we could comfortably live through, say, a Great Depression and life feel no different? Or if WW3 broke out could we take our floating home somewhere remote and exist in a similar level of comfort for several years? If another pandemic breaks out and the most frightened people in society lose their minds again and insist we wear 6 masks and take 100 vaccine shots, or else we'll be ostracised from society, can we build that level of 'off-grid' systems, so that we remove tyrannical governments leverage to some degree, so that we can be more free to determine the course of our own lives? That's the goal, to basically be as 'off-grid' as it's possible to be whilst living on a boat, that's what we're developing our skills for as well as the boats systems.
Thanks for the well considered reply, I agree with what you are saying and based on your explanation I agree with you. I think the off grid is very over used and far too many people are claiming it. As I probably badly tried to explain I thing what you are doing is great and much more sustainable than most, I still think the wording off grid is the wrong name for what you are doing "follow the boat" did a well thought video of off grid and I agree with them. You cannot be truly off grid if someone can pick up the phone and speak to you.
Um, if you don't know about mushrooms, never ever ever pick and eat a mushroom. Families at family meals have died that way. Entire families. Modern times. Some deadly mushroom might look just like this good mushroom. If you dont know, do not guess. Sorry, it needed saying.
Ignore the vegan fundamentalists (we're vegan), you're living a simpler/sustainable life than someone ashore. Here's a vegan joke... How many vegans does it take to change a lightbulb...? No one knows because they're still arguing over who's shoes are leather... Good luck with your winter berth, hopefully it's not too long and cold this year 🤞
Ha ha, I have plenty of veggie and vegan friends, I'm sure most are great people, it's the extremes in any group, the small vocal minority who 'need to be heard' I guess. I like to think a fair amount of thought goes into how we can have less impact on the world whilst also living a comfortable life that we enjoy, which food is a huge part off too 😬😋 I think I may start putting all of the lobsters and crabs that I let go due to size, V-notch or because they're carrying eggs in the videos to help give more balance, but I also try and make the videos punchy and full of action too so I don't want them to end up too long, yet as the channel grows it's probably a good idea to set the scene that we don't just go in and take everything we can, simply what we need, everything else gets to fight another day. 🙏🏼
@@CadohaAdventures Perhaps a short video that talks about that aspect (sustainable life etc) rather than adding to each video? And yes, the 'shouty brigade' of any position do tend to love their own voices...as they say, we have one mouth and two ears for a reason... Keep having fun and we look forward to your next adventure. 💪
I like your videos but I can't stand that you are complicit in the sexualising of sailing women. I like watching Leo and Mads because they don't stoop to putting women in bikinis to get clicks. I used to like watching your videos, but your constant use of bikini shots in your thumbnail makes me feel like we have gone back to the 60s.
Philip, we always appreciate the feedback so thank you for taking the time, but I do wonder if you can see the irony in (I’m assuming you are?) a man, telling a woman how she should dress, in the name of ‘progress’? It was exactly the same last year too, Carly wore swimwear in many videos and thumbnails, you know what these two chapters also had in common? It was summer time 👌🏼 But I shall pass the message on to CAPTAIN Carly for you, that you, a man in 2022, thinks it’s wrong for her to be wearing a bikini. For context, 4 out of the last 34 videos Carly has been wearing swimwear in the thumbnail. Four! Do you have any idea how you sound? You’re making a woman who designs the thumbnails herself, who wears what she wants to wear because she has agency over her own life, you’re making her feel ashamed of herself by using words like ‘stoop’ in the context of her wardrobe choices? There’s only one person here who is coming off as misogynistic and I think you need to reflect on why you think you have the right to tell any woman how to dress?
@@CadohaAdventures Yes it does seem ironic. Personally I don't want to be part of the crowd if the RUclips algorithm makes you guys go down the road of so many other RUclips channels where it seems as though many of the gains of the last few decades are being traded away for older men like me to enjoy some eye candy. I find it easier to watch channels like Matt and Amy's where I can just watch Amy be a fabulous sailor in her own right. I was probably too ferocious in my initial comment, but I am conflicted and so I will watch other channels. Go well.
Thank you.... another really enjoyable video...... Btw - when I used to live by the sea, we used a shallow hooked rod to grab the lobsters from their small undersea burrows.. It usually caught them by the legs/claw, and usually worked very well.... 🦞🦞🦞🦞😉

I’m clearly getting a bit sentimental as I get older 🤣
It was a lovely spectacle to watch 🙏🏼⛵️
Another great video, so good to see the possibilities of living the dream in the 🇬🇧
There's just so many beautiful little spots around the UK to stop in and if you're happy to anchor out then there's no reason that it has to be as expensive as many people say it is. Just stay out of the expensive marinas and you're all good 🙏🏼
Wow, you guys are living like king's, oh, & a queen of course. Good on the both of you.i look forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work 😃. SV Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 👍
We’re certainly trying to live our best lives out here 🙏🏼☺️⛵️
Excellent job AGAIN.✅
Tell Hank he does NOT have to be so Regal, he IS on a boat…!!! 🫣🤣😂
This is what Hank looks like when he's slumming it, you should see him when he's sat on his throne! 😬🐕
@@CadohaAdventures 😂🤣😱 I can see it….!!! 😵💫😎
Nice one
Our pleasure, thanks for taking the time to hang out with us for a bit, we really appreciate it 👌🏼☺️⛵️
ballsy move catching that lobster mate
I certainly got much braver with my bare hands by the end of the season, my metal lobster snare just kept letting them slip away.
Vizslas do not like rain - Hank is a star.
Ha ha, good to know that Hank isn't broken then ☺️🙏🏼
Brilliant, thank you for show casing the South West.
If there was an award for a hunter gatherer?
You would definitely win hands down.
Love the show👍🦞🐟🐠🦀🦐
Thanks Pete, but I'm really just a keen beginner at this hunter gathering.
Hi, which headset do you use... Great videos, keep them coming...
Hey there, we use these ones: Intercom (Wireless) Head-sets: amzn.to/3yTE0gN
Love the video ! 🎃
Glad to hear it, Mike 👌🏼☺️
Wow wow wow life is hard yes please
Trying to make the best out of it for sure 🙏🏼☺️
Poor Hank watching you both eat lobster and then your crumble 🤙
Ha ha, I looks worse than it is, he spits the lobster out when you give it to him, and he diets on a product called butternut. His food is more expensive than ours! He eats well 👌🏼☺️
Do Miss CArly's cooking skills come from any schooling, or just from years of practice? She certainly looks like she knows what she's doing! Mr Hank just about sampled that wrap you were enjoying!! Ha!
I think just a mix of natural talent and checking out the occasional recipe online 🙏🏼🦞❤️
On this occasion our battery bank was running low so we tapped into that cooker and made a note to be sure to add more solar for next year 🤣
Winter has started off fine, back to the grind. We both have jobs again and are working to save up for several large (off-grid) modifications for Cadoha, as well as all the usual upkeep and maintenance work, but we can't complain. Being able to have half the year off is very fortunate and working nearly every day for the other half of the year seems like a fair trade-off ☺️⛵️
@@CadohaAdventures Just keep the vids coming.
Roger that 👌🏻
One thing wonders me, what to drink with this magnificent feast?
I think Carly had some wine and I think I had a beer. Carly is the more sophisticated member of the crew, after Hank, of course, he looks down on both of us 😬
Lovely video. St Mawes and Portscatho are gorgeous. Very impressed how you manage to hold your breath. Did it rain that long?
It didn't rain the entire time, we had some breaks in rain but then it was very windy, so between wind and rain we were pinned down for the first half of September essentially and we were going out of our minds with cabin fever 😫
Fabulous video guys…
How do you get on with the Ninja?we got a 15-1 multi cooker for Christmas and haven’t used the oven since! Interesting to note that ours says not suitable for Marine use!
I felt a bit sorry for poor Hank. Does he get to eat like a king or is he confined to Pedigree Chum?!
You should totally apply to the BBC or something as a voiceover guy for documentaries, you have the perfect voice and way of speaking for it
:)
Ha ha, not quite sure I went to the right schools for a BBC position, Channel 5 maybe 😬🤣
Just curious… no snubber on your anchor line in this video?
We do always have one on, I probably just filmed as soon as we dropped the hook, before any clouds could turn up and kill the shot 🤣, but we always tie a snubber line on with a rolling hitch from one of our forward cleats when we're done.
I am a bit green at the minute.
Food envy or the camera rolling a bit too much? 🤢😬
@@CadohaAdventures !00% Envy.. Reg
Is it the UK?
Yes this is our home shores ☺️⛵️🦞
With your leather hat on and your close-up, I was reminded of the self-portrait of Vincent Van Gogh. I can't say for sure if this was one of my senior moments, or not! :¬) Webhead USA
I still have both my ears though 😬🙏🏼
Hank always looks so crestfallen when he doesn't get something to eat
I know, and I think he knows it too and plays on it 😆
@@CadohaAdventures Give the boy some lobster😋
We've honestly given him some before and he spits it out. 😮
@@CadohaAdventures we had a dog who would bury food he did not like. It was funny, he would beg for something and then stand by the door with it in his mouth if he did not like it waiting to be let out to bury it.
😋
Lobster tastes even better when you don't have to empty your wallet to eat it. Thanks for the video.
Will look into that. Glad you’re enjoying the vlogs 👌🏼☺️
♥️♥️🥰🥰

😀👍👍👍❤
Glad you enjoyed it, Thomas. Thanks for taking the time to hang out with us for 20 minutes, we appreciate it 🙏🏼☺️⛵️
I can't believe no one is charging you taxes on your foraging.
Charging taxes on foraging, jeez don’t go giving those big government lovers any crazy ideas there 😮😮
I’m for small government, big on freedom, and the more they can stay out of my business, the better, which includes any new taxes! 🤞🏼🤞🏼😬
We have been following you since your first episode and really like you style and content. One thing we do find frustrating with you and many other RUclips is the frequent claims to be “off grid”. There is no way any one with mobile phones, 4G/5G Internet, buying food and drink from shops, using consumer electronics/cameras/solar panels (mass produced and transported from China), drinking water either from marinas or from a mass-produced reverse osmosis device, diesel or even electric propulsion neither of which is without an impact on the environment, gas for cooking (a larger refillable bottle would be better and cheaper?) should claim to be “off grid”
Clearly you are doing your best to reduce your environmental impact and by all means mention your efforts in this respect but please don’t jump on the band-wagon of claiming to be “off grid” you are better than that and such claims just devalue your other efforts.
Lock up your lobsters.
I think for balance I should do a video of all the lobsters I let go ☺️😇🦞
Um, if you don't know about mushrooms, never ever ever pick and eat a mushroom. Families at family meals have died that way. Entire families. Modern times. Some deadly mushroom might look just like this good mushroom. If you dont know, do not guess. Sorry, it needed saying.
Wise words, and I wholeheartedly adhere to that train of thought, luckily though we do know what a parasol mushroom looks like now ☺️🍄
@@CadohaAdventures I knew that you guys new, that was for us regular people. lol.
If it’s not in your video why is it a thumb nail …..click bait
What are you talking about? That anchorage was in the video, as was lobster, as was Carly?
Stop being so pedantic.
I like to think a fair amount of thought goes into how we can have less impact on the world whilst also living a comfortable life that we enjoy, which food is a huge part off too 😬😋
I think I may start putting all of the lobsters and crabs that I let go due to size, V-notch or because they're carrying eggs in the videos to help give more balance, but I also try and make the videos punchy and full of action too so I don't want them to end up too long, yet as the channel grows it's probably a good idea to set the scene that we don't just go in and take everything we can, simply what we need, everything else gets to fight another day. 🙏🏼
@@CadohaAdventures
Perhaps a short video that talks about that aspect (sustainable life etc) rather than adding to each video?
It was summer time 👌🏼
But I shall pass the message on to CAPTAIN Carly for you, that you, a man in 2022, thinks it’s wrong for her to be wearing a bikini.
Ah cool, always nice to hear other peoples methods of catching the elusive lobster and perhaps learn something else to help us in the future 🙏🏼🦞
