I thought I would compile a list of my favourite mods for you to try out! These all currently work on 1.12.2 and some of them have been updated for newer versions of Minecraft too.
To get these mods to work you will first need to download the correct version of forge here - files.minecraftforge.net/
Then you will need to download the correct version of the mod, matching the forge version. Some mods have dependencies on other mods or libraries (it will usually tell you when you load up if you are missing a mod, just google it and download whatever you are missing)

I saw you use the inventory pets and Quark in your series and it enspired me to get them for myself!
~~Mod suggestions: The "Decocraft" mod and the "Bibliocraft" mod goes perfectly with this other mod named "Cocricot", it adds a bunch more decorations and decorative food. Also, I found a better backpack mod called "Travelers Backpack" it has more space, a crafting table, and slots for water/lava, and two slots for tools. ~~ Thanks for reading, have a great day and bye bye

2:05 Mo Bends (it's neat and compliments Optifine really well)
2:46 Mo Creatures (MORE PETSSS)
3:58 Just Enough Items (helpful and handy!)
4:58 Decocraft (it's helps make things more detailed and pretty)
5:14 Wings (helpful when stuck somewhere, also neat)
5:59 Baby Animals (makes them chibi and cute)
7:18 Quark (really helpful for detailed builds and customs)
7:57 Biomes o' Plenty (just super cool to hunt the biomes down)
8:48 Fairy Lights (makes a cooler lighting statement than torches)
10:00 More Player Models (more customization that I can be a sucker for)

Some of these mods have new features features added to minecraft recently, such as the cherry blossom biome, the editable signs and more.

My all time favourite!
Instead of getting wearable backpacks, get travellers backpack, people can’t take stuff out of it, it doesn’t take up your chest plate storage, has a built in sleeping bag AND you can get ones that look like animals 🥺

Every time i use a biome mod or an animal mod the default vanilla animals and sometimes default biomes dont generate ( especially Biomes 'O' Plenty which is why i use a biome mod called "Matter of form" )

You have to do something whit files and you need to instal forge on 9 minecraft where u can find mods too
