      hi ,(no offense this is not a negative comment ;) ) i put no unlike but dude.. where do you have 24hp ? this is maybe wrong :) and you'r double suspension set up is a mechanical mess because the way you mount it you have a big angle force issue and this all for reach 70mhp is also a mess , BUT you do the job you surrely have fun to do it and also was existed to test and shaw it and fact is you make tons off view :) so i do not like but i'm waiting for the next run and more explaination off your calculation to have 24hp means 17kw and that not possible with only 2x 100amp draw with only 8s i pull 5500watt with 16s on 1 motor to have a 100amp draw , and there's a big difference between max power on the paper and effectiv power who is abow the half off the maxx , you can reach more speed with only 1 motor esc and 1 set 8s :) biggeste issue with 2 motors will be to find big enought motor pinion look bye kershaw designe ( i drive 12s 5692 750kv motor on 110mph in a losi r8 :) ) hop see you soon ! i subrscribed ! NICE JOB !

    Needs aero. Especially a big vertical fin like an LMP1.
    Ah, memories. I did similar experiments back in the day with an RC12L and Porsche 917 body. Nine cells of NiCd. I raced four cell road course, though there were six cell classes. RWD made it really hard to put down nine cells of power. When it spun, the lexan body would lift it sometimes a couple meters into the air.
    This brings back all those feelings though. A long stretch of road, barely controllable power... mmmmmm yeah. The spectacular crashes...

    I don't even blame you for crashing. It's tough to control rc cars especially at these speeds. We take the feedback we get from real cars for granted, you don't get any of that from an rc, and they can be pretty squirrelly on top of that

    Aww man! As solid (heavy) as it looks and seeing how the crashes always start with loss of traction, I’d suggest using some very sticky S2’s on your ride. I haven’t tried the softest of the soft S1’s yet, but I do have a set on standby for my next Typhon speed build. Those foams don’t seem to handle heavy weight and the inertial when over-correcting.👍👍

    Hey buddy hard luck on that one... I think your toe angles and steering need adjustment.
    Bit of advice though more batteries doesn't mean more speed...
    I've built similar projects and trust me a 6s, or if your feeling lucky, an 8s will do!!!
    Use different pinion to spur ratios.
    If you want torque use lower kv motor.
    E.g. 1200kv
    Good for speeds upto 65-75mph without cooking
    For horsepowers use larger kv
    E.g. 3400kv
    Good for flat out 65+mph runs
    In a drag race a medium kv (2200) will always out run a high kv (4500+).
    But a low kv (850) will launch faster (if it has enough traction) then both.
    And a high kv makes most of its power up top, so no lugging them with silly pinion combos...

    • @Track13News
      @Track13News  6 лет назад

      M4D_MARK_XTr3Me -Ozkil- yes, still have a lot to do, really just an operational run to see if everything worked, have tuning, ESC settings, goal is 180 MPH, so needing about 280 amps per ESC/motor has plenty of torque, will find out how much battery I can give up after pulling full throttle. Need about 1/2 mile though, airfield

    • @m4d_mark_xtr3me79
      @m4d_mark_xtr3me79 6 лет назад

      Track13News try using a 21/2200kv and a 1/8-1/5 1000amp esc combo..
      like a hobbywing ;)
      Cheap, powerful and fast...
      Got one on my rig, 40lb of custom 1/6 truck.
      it pulls to 55mph/60 fairly quickly.
      I'm afraid to go any faster, as it becomes a large wrecking ball capable of God knows what...

    First, I appreciate all of the work that went into this car and all of the knowledge it takes to set up the electronics. Second, how ever much this thing cost was a waste. Don't quote me on this but with a 2650kv motor, 1 4s lipo, etc, I'm sure any E-buggy could be made to go faster and it would have a million more applications. This thing just can go back and forth on a road. Last, why would you set drag break on a road car? Use the controller.

    • @Track13News
      @Track13News  6 лет назад +3

      Tony Dugan this is built for one thing and one thing only, to go 180-190 MPH, this was the first operational test only, and I only intended to go 65 MPH on this outing. Drag brake is to slow this down to not have to use actual brakes as much as possible. With a speed run your are either going fast or trying to slow down.

      What is the expected top speed out of curiosity?

    • @Track13News
      @Track13News  6 лет назад +2

      KlockworXMusic 170 MPH plus, depending on what happens with the aero package at that point. 1/8 Scale GT RC cars have hit 170 MPH with production chassis and bodies. Typically at 12-14 lbs and one motor, currently all up weight without body is 19Lbs, body will weight close to one pound. 20 Lbs. I️ can reconfigure batteries and drop about 3lbs, but I️ built this with mindset, of having enough power to max these motors out, we will see if pure muscle can overcome drag, or if I️ need to lighten it up.

    I find this kind of stuff really cool even though I prefer freestyle drones, but the engineer part of me says this looks good on paper but in reality is somewhat flawed. On something that small and light, its hard to control at a speed that a normal car would handle with ease. 24hp is a big number for something that size, a quick Google search turned up the world record of 202mph was set with an RC car with only 12hp, and looking that that one, its got a really long wheelbase (it looks like a full size land speed record car but its doing lower speeds then the real thing) and uses lipos that would add weight. As much as I like super caps, they are lighter and your car seems to be a really short wheel base and I think they would almost be a hindrance here, but I am guessing you are using them for their high amperage capabilities? I imagine it will be really hard to get that car to actually go very fast without spinning out of control though. I find this really interesting because I feel like you are building the RC car equivalent of the X-29 with its forward swept wings, which if unfamiliar is an aircraft that is built to be unstable to have increased agility, at the cost of having a computer system keep the craft in the air. Its really cool but I think you might need a longer wheel base and aerodynamics to add down force. Even full sized racecars use wings for downforce because you want the car to 'weigh' more sometimes, while having low weight to change direction quicker. But because RC cars are so small and light, hitting speeds in excess of 100mph is like shooting a cotton ball out of a cannon, or even throwing a cotton ball, its so light it doesn't track straight in the slightest. I am going to subscribe because I want to see how this goes, what revisions you find you have to make and what the eventual end product turns out like.
    Also, do people run Expo on their steering for RC cars? I feel like bucket loads of expo would be really helpful for controlling this so you have fine steering control across most of the stick/wheel range, while having it turn extremely sharply if you went all the way to the end of the stick/wheel travel.

    • @Track13News
      @Track13News  6 лет назад +1

      Work in progress, body will be here any day, I was really nervous to run without the body. But I wanted to see how the motors worked together, if the thing actually operated correctly. It exceeded my expectations, was tracking straight, with only simple eyeball tuning, no measuring. Center of gravity is low, well balanced. I was very concerned with the weight affecting handling, so I spent a long time thinking about how I could fit everything, and keep weight low to the ground. Honestly, it handled just like a tuned car at 12-13 lbs. The four shocks front and rear, low center of gravity, and super stiff 4.5 MM CF chassis are working well. There is nothing easy about getting an RC car up to 100 plus, to quick on the throttle and you break traction, and your done, off to the curb it goes. That was about 1/3 throttle, with mild gearing, lots of untapped power. Expo, yes, can adjust speed, endpoints, travel, dual rates more steering at low speed, less at high, and everything in between, channel mixing, can use Gyro to center steering real time. Thanks for your input, interest, and Sub!

    Hey, few questions if I may, but before then - haters on this comment thread - do you have nothing better to do? Most people are out there sitting on their damn couches doing nothing useful, and you're hating on this OP for trying something out? Even if you think it has no merit, can't you see that you're the reason we can't have nice things?
    As for the questions: 1) I think you're calling them 'super' capacitors because you've got lots of them in both series and parallel so you can charge to really high voltages and have a lot of charge in there, correct? 2) I guess you have the super-capacitor packs in parallel with the battery packs, so that they discharge into the main circuit with the ESC to give a higher discharge amperage when the battery packs can't keep up, but then they recharge when you're out of the burst? 3) Have you measured the discharge through that circuit yet and confirmed that they're working as intended? 4) What steering expo are you using and are you mixing that with throttle at all to keep the thing stable? 5) Did you set anything on fire before coming up with the capacitor charging method that you have? 6) When you say that you have '50 Amps' in the capacitor packs, since that's a current and not a total charge, I don't think that makes sense. Do you mean 50 Ah? But that's at constant voltage, so I'd expect to see it in either coulombs (confusingly that symbol is 'C', which is used in battery tech to describe charge and discharge rates, but doesn't refer to colombs) or Wh (watt-hours) for comparisons with your batteries. How many watt hours are in there? Or maybe you're saying that you used 50 amps to charge them up to 8s?

      Okay answered one of my own questions: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercapacitor

    • @Track13News
      @Track13News  6 лет назад

      Thanks for your questions and support! Answers: Q1 The Capacitors I am using are supercap, ultracapacitor or Goldcap) is a high-capacity capacitor with capacitance values much higher than other capacitors (but lower voltage limits), @EVULEMPIRERACING created these supercap packs for me, I only know they store about 50 amps each of instant power. Q2 Correct, using to minimize ripple voltage, connected parallel but specifically one cap pack per ESC as close as possible to the ESC. Q3 Ripple voltage peaked at 1.45v. Q4 no expo, will be tweaking the steering, throttle might keep linear, braking intend on using ABS feature on Futaba. Q5 Well I ARCed a few 8mm bullet bad enough that only half of the bullet was left intact, and I used xt60 at first on the precharge at 8S, that plug lasted 2 plug ins before it was completely distroyed from the ARC.

      Dorito Man47 no dyno, do have data logs on each ESC, but it has TP4070CM 2200 kv rated at 5000 W continuous 9000 peak watts. 9000/750 watts is 12 HP, there are two motors in there. This was very first passes, at 1/3 throttle, only generated 5.6 HP each motor. More to come

    What kinda car did it start its life as? Arrma typhoon? Good looking build! I like the wire job! Ignore the haters n do you.... i like the tech talk in the begining... im still a novice (80 mph 6s slash build) but why charge the cap packs? I thought they protected the esc from voltage spikes? Plus the grooves in that blacktop would no doubt make my build squirrly as $&@^ good stuff!

    • @Track13News
      @Track13News  6 лет назад

      George Vinc yes Arrma TYPHON, had a CF chassis cut, longer than TYPHON shorter than Kraton, 360 mm wheel base GT2 style. Those Supercaps combined hold about 100 Amps, so they pull that in instantly, I was burning up 8mm and 10 mm bullet connectors from the ARC when plugging in, so precharging was my solution, plus gives me a little extra capacity. so 32v at 90a into the system. thats 2880watts. 2880 wats to HP thats like 3.8 HP. of power you have put in the syterm. Ok thats fine i can live with that. You say your running a 400a ESC, so 400a at 32 volts like that max you could have made here is maybe 17HP. so my question is where did you get 24 HP from?

    • @Track13News
      @Track13News  6 лет назад

      Running two XLX ESC, two TP4070CM 2200KV motors, yes they are 6.6 HP each continuous but 12 HP Max 9000 watts each

      @logitechtaco 6 лет назад

      Well 32V by 281.25 Amps = 9000 Watts, each XLX is rated for 160 AMP at 8S continuous, $5120 watts, no peak rating, so I am hoping when I draw peak load (which I haven't yet) they wont burst into flames

      It's a high RPM motor (75,000). So isn't it just a matter of using a gearbox to reduce the RPMs and increase the torque?

    • @Track13News
      @Track13News  6 лет назад

      yes and no, gear yes, but at 75,000 rpm efficiency is not optimal, so be better to maximize efficiency with job needing done, more torque or less torque, etc.
