Wouldn't aluminium cover destroy the teeth faster? - isn't plastic cover a sort of bumper in case the motor can't move the roof - thus it makes noise while jumping teeth on the plastic?
What does the metal cover do that the plastic bmw one doesn't please? I'm just about to change my motor after diagnosing it as the reason my boot separator doesn't want to close properly
DO YOU STILL SELL THESE? What about the 3 prongs that were on the plastic cover? Does your new aluminum plate have these prongs needed to hold the gear wheel in? Also, where can I get new gears? WITHOUT ASKING THE STEALERSHIP! Thanks, on the great video!
Hello Jay that you for the purchase and I’m sorry to hear that your still having issues. After removing the original plastic cover, the ring gear just pulls out and then you can just turn it to catch new teeth on the gear. Maybe more is going wrong there as you stated. I’m happy to help. I know it’s been a year. I did. It was coming from water getting into the convertible top compartment and then leaking into the rear, to the trunk, and settling in the spare well. I got a wire hanger and un clogged the two drain holes that are underneath the convertible mounts. There’s a couple videos on it. After that no water so far. Even if it doesn’t help you hope it helps someone else.
hey, Quick question maybe you can help me On my E46 soft top everything works as it should when opening it, only when the rear flap goes down there's still 1 centimeter left gap because the lock does not close. The motor in the middle works properly. Could you possibly help me? Best regards

Hi. I had to modify your cover slightly, because my cast case is slightly bent on top. Cleaned and lubricated all, did some other small trucks, installed it today - and the top is working!!!! Thank you for a great product.
Thank you for the video. What happens if you accidentally adjust the two cables? I think I may have adjusted the cables when I replaced mine with a new motor. With the new motor, I still can't open and close my convertible top. I took it to a BMW repair shop and they couldn't scan the code either. When you click on the open/close buttons, othing moves. Red light flashing. Don't hear any noise from the motor either. Can't open the trunk either. The trunk can only be opened with the key. Any ideas what could be the problem?
Samsaolong Giada : i’m sorry to hear that. Is the top open or closed? Do you need to close it and open it all the way in either direction manually otherwise the sequence will be off. If it’s open and close it by hand completely and then try to open it electronically if it’s closed open it manually you’ll have to use the hand crank. You can find a RUclips video on how to do this. Lastly if you can open the booth as in the U shaped cover You can look for frayed wires on the driver side hinge location. If you Google frayed wires on E 46 convertible top you’ll get an idea of what I’m talking about.
