Thank you for taking the time…. Great video!! I have the same issue, lost one of my cables and was thinking I could never replace myself but now I’m going to give it a shot!! Any advice in hindsight?
I have the identical setup. Loosening the pulleys and taking up the cable slack - that part is completely clear. What's not clear to me is how does simply taking up the slack allow the spring to work when you're actually operating the door.
Tension is already on the spring from winding it in with the tools. I just did some final adjustments to even out the cables by loosening the pulley and making the loose side match the tighter side when the door was closed. It will all come together once you start doing it
I possess identical trailers. The cables on both sides are disconnected, but the spring winding system remains intact. To rectify this, would I follow the same procedure for both sides, adjusting tension on the springs last? As the actual spring is not under tension right now. Lowering the door, attaching cables on both sides, eliminating slack on both ends, and then increasing tension on the springs by rotating them. Does this sequence of steps align with the correct logic?
@@NE-Explorer Yes, I pulled ours up 1 piece at a time to make sure everything went back exactly where it came from. Just use a small (1/2 gallon size) garden sprayer to applied it and give it time to dry. Then put it back in. Fairly straight forward.
I believe you could get away with a regular sized 12 point socket, but I don’t think the 6 point sockets would grab it correctly, sorry it’s a vague answer
Only thing I realized after the video...thise end cable holders have to be snug up against tbe bearings on the inside...those keep the whole shaft from walking left to right. Everything else is pretty simple once you get the premise of whats going on.
Appreciate this video. Had a cable come off and had no idea where to start! Appreciate the trial and error approach and honesty in the process.
Thanks for the info! I bought a used trailer where one of the cables had come off of the pulley, your video showed me how to put it back on.
Glad it helped you out. Always good to save some money and fix things we can ourselves right?!?!

Just be very careful and finish up with 10 fingers. Hope it worked out

My torsion spring broke so I just rigged up a gorilla gate set up, cheaper and works like a charm
I have to watch 7 times this video to fix my same problem after 2 hours finally got it. Haha good video
props for doing this alone. although I prefer a Modelo at the end of the day
You didn’t have the set screws loosened enough to wind the cable
Replacing mine soon . Good video with much useful information. Thanks
Whats the best way to preserve the wooden floor of a cargo trailer?
I truly don’t have a good answer for you sorry
Thompsons water seal or paint it. We are converting our cargo trailer to a camper and are using some left over laminate flooring we have.
@@WillJedi71 Water seal the road side, correct?

How did you adjust the pulley to stop the cable from rubbing?
The ball signs my wheels are square. Can you use regular 6-point sockets on Square bolts or do you need a pipe plug socket wrench set

@@Oxford_Lawn Thanks I bought a set of stove bolt sockets (sq head) but as long as its not 10mm I will try a hex socket.
Use a regular 3/8 extension female end and a crescent wrench on the make end
you cant make a perfect flare with the flare nut on the pipe either, thatll teach you to pick up your tools...
Great job sir 👏
Many thanks
Where did you purchase the kit from?
Where you bought the cables replacement please 🙏?
Our local trailer dealer has all the parts needed to fix them. I use Fruitland Park Trailers where I live.
Good video. Thanks. I need to do the exact same repair. Now I have a good idea what I am up against.

Thank you very much 🎉

Pain in the ass. A garage door guy gave me the rods so we can do ourselves, oh and you can get the spring at home Depot. Trailer shops are over priced
