This song used to be exclusive to pachinko machines then was added to Xrd. I'm glad that it was not left to be only on pachinko machines. This is way too good of a song. Yes this is one of the voiced songs in Xrd before Strive came in with all character songs being lyrical
"i can hear you all singing along" damn right, this one is my 2nd favorite track in the entire franchise so I immediately jumped on this video when I saw it. Such a good feel song rock track to sing with especially with the feel good lyrics as well. Just waiting for you to get to my favorite track in the franchise now lol.
I gotta hop onto this right away since this is one of my favorite GG songs, this song beats out most of Strive for me which is why I love it so much. I would have suggested this one if I didn't notice someone else did. I like how it starts out funky and tricks you right after by going into a more Metal/Rock vibe, I love the groovy bits in this song. The riffs hit just right for me in this song, you bet I'm singing along haha. There's something about the chorus that is so engaging and I can't explain why, this is one of the few songs that make me feel like I can take on the world. I like how this song isn't just pure Rock/Metal by including piano, organ and funky guitars. This is one of my favorite GG songs and it's in my personal top 5 and probably top 3 I love this song and it's helped me out plenty of times. I'm pretty sure the character on screen is Sol Badguy (the main character). This song originally appeared in a pachinko machine with the game Guilty Gear Vastedge XT, it was used as one of the level themes. It was re-used in Xrd for a cutscene which is interesting. That's some context for you.
Storyteller, SHOTGUN&HEAD, and Dice were all made for the pachislot machine "Guilty Gear Vastedge XT". It actually follows a storyline that functions like a proper transition from Guilty Gear Overture (a fun, but confusing RTS action hybrid) into the beginning of XRD Sign. Sadly, there's very little documentation as to when which song is played in the pachislot, so the context of the song is ambiguous, at best. My take is that this is basically Sol Badguy's final lesson to Sin Kiske at the tail end of their journey together, telling Sin about the many mundane yet wonderful things that can fill out the average persons life and give it meaning, while also reminding him not to forget the hardships that make everything good in the world so valuable.
If you hear male vocals in Guilty Gear, it's Naoki. There is one SINGULAR exception in Love the Subhuman Self from Strive which is a female led song that has some spare male backing vocals that aren't Naoki. That's the only exception. Likewise all the female vocals you hear are Aisha, with the exception of the latest song, "Extras", sung entirely by Molly Daisy, which I definently would recommend next it's so good
Xrd started to introduce lyrics in some of the themes. Then Strive went full lyrical. BUT that's why I prefer XX themes, because I can just beat up my opponent to it rather than singing to lyrics.
Interesting observation that these songs have a lot of lyrics. I feel like Daisuke's style is rock opera-adjacent in the sense that you're leaning into lyrics for a lot of narrative, and that tends to mean more words. When you look at some of the big modern rock/metal operas, like the work of The Protomen or Unleash the Archers, there's a lot of structural similarities.
i was hoping someone had suggested Pillars of the Underworld... i wont say more, but that Guilty Gear song changed the brain chemistry of fighting game fans for generations, without ever knowing what its from.
The song originates from Guilty Gear Vastedge, a Pachinko machine. It has some canonical story stuff in it that fits inbetween Guilty Gear 2 Overture and Xrd -Sign. The song is used in Xrd -Signs story mode during one of its hypest moments, but otherwise it is a selectable BGM Track in every game since then. As far as I can tell, the lyrics don’t hold any meaning that fits with the games stories or the universe (unlike the Strive character themes) but it doesn’t really need that, as it’s just a good song on its own. I think the lyrics being a bit stuffed might come from everyone working on the music being Japanese and not ‘entirely’ fluent in English. They try to fit a LOT in the text sometimes, and if you know English it can be hard to understand the flow of the song just from looking at the lyrics, as the vocalist contracts a lot of words that one usually wouldn’t to fit the melody.
I'm sure this has been asked before, but what headphones are you using? I have seen many other composers or musicians with them and as an audiophile would love to know! Also if possible could you let me know what the previous headset was called? I remember seeing it on your 1 year old videos and I think it had a gold ring on the back of the earphones?
I hope someone's requested Elphelt's theme "Extras", I'm sure you'll enjoy it 😁
Meh
if he's gonna do anything elphelt needs to be marionette lol
Doubt that tbh and I like elphelts themr

"PLEASE SPREAD THESE WORDS FOREVER OOOOOOOOH STORYTELLER" can't help but sing along
Bro I was singing the song before it even started, he ain't wrong
I like that the song ends with:
"There is no need for sorrow
Great songs will never die"
Man, Guilty Gear is cool.
Guilty Gear *WAS cool. Unfortunately, Str*ve happened.
@@sharzinlalebazri5673 nah. It still is, just a bit different
@@sharzinlalebazri5673shut up kid.
@@sharzinlalebazri5673You know what's not cool? Gatekeeping shit you enjoy so that other people can't enjoy it
@@amesgames1263 That's the exact opposite of what I'm doing. I'm not gatekeeping a wonderland, I'm guiding the lambs away from the slaughterhouse.

I know this song from DougDoug, aka, "it's time to play the best damn GTA of my life."

I believe that the game title is pronounced “Zerd” like “Third”. Cuz its the third GGX. Hope you listen to Extras some time soon!
its pronounced as "ecks-erd"
The pronunciation is actually "Ecks-ard", which is the funniest version imo
It’s pronounced how it looks.
EXTRAS!!!!!
