It must be an honor to be part of a orchestra, that's responsable to put life and emotions in different parts of the movie using beautiful soundtracks!
@@wrightyy Well, good thing there’s lots of different kinds of instruments- Something for everyone! But most people can make it through a violin solo piece like Schindler’s list and enjoy it. ☺️
@@notenoughtreble As always there are exceptions. As a bass player (electric guitar variety, although I own at acoustic one too) I imagine it's just too higher of a pitch for me? I do not play the double bass. But I may do. Lack of frets scare me.
This gave me some great insight. I realized that there's SO MANY PEOPLE behind everything we hear. Personally, I didn't really think about it much because I couldn't see these People. But it's also admirable that they're willing to give the spotlight to someone elsee while they're supporting. ANDQ HELL ARE THEY GOOD.
Thats what it would seem like lol. Oboe has an enormous amount of back pressure that the player experiences when playing. He is actually exhaling excess air at the end of that note not inhaling.
As an former oboe player that’s actually quite normal for us to look like we’re dying while playing, but in reality what he’s actually doing is keeping those 2 notes he plays steady and keep the transition between them smooth. Oboe takes a lot of air just, especially when you’re using vibrato because we produce our vibrato through our stomach instead of our throats like flutes and saxophones. So when you are playing 2 long notes like that that have to be incredibly smooth bc you are the feature instrument there, you have to take a huge intake of breath before playing it bc those 2 notes cannot be separated (meaning there’s a gap in between the sound of the 2 notes). This man did a great job, and he had a great ambusher (pretty sure I spelt that wrong lol, but it’s the way he’s playing and the firmness of his lips around the reed, the best ambushers produce the best sounds out of an oboe) and his notes were incredible, they were smooth and the vibrato was subtle but pretty. What he was doing at the end, although he looked like he was dying was just letting out all the excess air
@@desireer1050 interesting, @Danny Thibodeaux yes I know he's exhaling, that's why I said he could not wait to breathe (in). edit: holy f. that comment is 6 years old :))
Can you imagine Disney (or whoever does it) calling you saying "Hey! Want to come play your instrument for our new movie soundtrack?" HELL YES I DO! :D
Didn't really like FROZEN when i first saw it, but now that I see the AMOUNT OF TIME AND EFFORT, and MONEY PUT INTO THIS MOVIE, I really truly appreciate many of Disney's animations
and now imagine they do it with every movie. You should see the work at Aladdin 1992 and The little mermaid 1989. You will be deeply touched by the amount of work efforts and enthusiasm and seriousness they treat these cartoons. Those are real masterpieces.
+zmgalen2000 I think the ones going super crazy were the violas, them and cellos tend to be the ambiance builders when violins and basses normally take the lead and echo the lyrics. I could be wrong, they looked bigger then a violin though.
Pretty sure it was the violins, because (according to traditional orchestra seating), the "violinists" were in the violin section. The violas are generally adjacent to cellos, not across from them
Its all about that early bassoon entrance at 1:31 that's what it's all about!!!!! Yeah that bassoon entrance. Looks like someone wasn't "concentrating", just watching the hours tick byyyyyyyyy.
Ugh I get goosebumps every time I hear the score of the scene when the parents die at sea. It’s just beautiful and the music is all that is needed to just make you feel all sorts of feels during that part
Absolutely awesome to watch. Nice to see a few older folks among the violinist/instrumentals. If you could imagine getting to be behind a huge project like this at that age. I was really impressed by that. I don't know all of my musical instruments, but the older gray haired guy was doing a solo and just wow.
+ Some Guy There were other instruments in the song despite the piano. The strings and probably a flute or some sort of wind instrument kicks in around the time when Menzel sings the first words, and there are practically a fanfare from the moment where Elsa starts creating the palace. There are drums too.

So I had the opportunity to be in a workshop and record similar to how they would with my highschool band. The person who taught is a professional musician, he told us that they only get about 2 minutes to look through all of there music, then they play it once, and then record. I find it amazing that they only sightread this once before they recorded this.
Really happy for all the success Frozen and its music is getting. Salute to these unsung heroes behind the scenes, at least they know in their heart they have been a part of this splendid Disney movie. :) Onwards to Oscar glory!! :D
I got a lil teary...this is amazing..watching the.movie I knew that one solo part was from an Oboe and this confirmed it. I play the Oboe and Clarinet so this brought good memories. Love it
Love to see behind the scenes, especially the musicians playing it :) Wonderful music, thank you all the talented musicians involved in this movie~~My family love it.
All these people working to make an animated movie like this is just a really beautifull job.I mean you are making a movie, creating characters and music people are gonna love and they will stay in our mind for quiet a while.I don't know about you guys but for me is like something alive through my mind and heart.Great job by all these people, they are all really talented and inventive and creative.Wonderfull job !!!
Holly Lockhart Yea, but it's kinda odd since most of the songs don't have a defined tempo. Maybe that's why there's a rough cut of the movie playing in the background. So that the conductor can see have a better grasp on the slightest tempo changes the music makes. It would've been way harder if the only thing guiding the orchestra was the recorded voice.
Andre Isidro all music on films has defined tempo. it's not like concert music that you just read "allegro" and you conduct what you think allegro tempo is! in Films you have a BPM in every single song. That bpm is synched with a timecode so everything is synched in the movie. So the conductor don't see the movie to get faster or slower the tempo. They have a click track so conductor and musicians can hear the tempo and changes of tempo. Also in the screen with the rough cut of the movie you can see the measures change and the speed of bpm to get a better idea. Let's say that the rough cut helps to get a better idea of Dynamics rather than tempo.
Oh wow. Love how that lady reads through 1:34 like she's bored! What'll really blow your mind is that there's a good chance she first saw that music about 15-30min before recording it....

I don't know how true this is, but I have heard from music teachers that stuff like this the musicians that get into this stuff usually only get a quick look at the music, maybe get a once through play and then its recorded most of the time they get next to no actual rehearsal time. Its pretty much sight read.
They're focused. A lot of the time, the recording session is the first time they're seeing the music, so it takes a lot of concentration to do everything in as few play throughs as possible.
