- We are finally in Colombia! If you don’t know we have been trying to move to Colombia for a while but then the coronavirus happened. After several flight changes, we were finally able to fly into the country. We made a video about our trip. It is our first attempt and making a vlog. In the video, we will take you through our day and tell you about our trip. We had fun making the video and we hope to make more videos like this in the future.
The video is different than some of our others and the sound might not be as good. We are trying out a new video editing software and also a different camera. It will get better with time as we tweak things and figure out what works best.

I have been trying to learn how to “hear“ Spanish and this seems to work. Perhaps the lady could speak just a little bit slower at times. Also Colombian women are just so naturally beautiful!

I love you guys. This vid reminds me of countless local and international moves I’ve made over the years. Living in a diversity of places has really enriched my life but I swear that the moves themselves have taken a few years off my total years and at age 65 it doesn’t get easier! A few suggestions about boots from a veteran (I walked 750 km last year on the Camino de Santiago). 1. Get yourself a good nail clipper and keep your toenails short. 2. Get yourself one of those sandpaper things and finish off the nail clipping. These two things will eliminate many problems. 3. Use the sandpaper thing to gently sand away any callouses on your feet. Callouses are bad. 4. After doing the above and every time you put on your socks and boots, generously spread some sort of oil or skin creme (I use coconut oil) all over your feet. This keeps them hydrated and lubed. 5. As soon as there are any hot spots or pain as you are walking stop and put a band-aid on that spot. Having said all of this, I no longer wear boots. On the Camino on Day 3 I threw away my expensive boots and bought a pair of Teva hiking sandals and have been extremely happy ever since!!
Hola hermosa pareja. ¡Qué coraje tienen Vds . Al ver el carrusel de equipaje número 4 me da un anhelo fuerte a regresar a Colombia. A pesar del hecho que en dos viajes me las perdieron las maletas . Ambas veces yo estaba reunido con ellas el día siguiente. Gracias al equipo del Aeropuerto Internacional El Dorado, muy amable. ( No era culpa de los colombianos. La primera vez las maletas quedaron en Atlanta, la segunda vez en Nueva Zelanda. Sentí un poco más de anhelo cuando ví en el vlog las calles de Bogotá con las motos, el chico pedaleando furiosamente en su bicicleta por la calle ,en la noche, sin faro, y las taxis amarillos. ¡Qué bonito!

Gracias por compartir su experiencia de mudarse a Colombia. Me recordó de mi propia experiencia de muderme a Colombia hace 6 años y luego hace 4 años. Aunque ya he vuelto a mi país, Trinidad y Tobago, anhelo volver a Colombia a vivir otra vez. Ojalá que un día podrí hacerlo.

Thank you! We love the natural ease of hearing Spanish being spoken in a way that allows beginners to hear and still understand here and there. I have been taking my kids (middle schoolers) through your videos that talk about every day things like the house walk-through and this travel one. We will do the shopping one as well! Fuimos en Bogota en enero de 2019 y viajamos hast Santa Marta en cicla. Colombia es bonito. Este año fuimos una ves mas en enero y febrero, pero solo en la region Caribe. Nos gustaría visitar Colombia este invierno también, pero con el Covid es mas complicado.

Hice un viaje parecido hace muchos anos, cuando yo tenia la misma idad que ustedes.......me mude para Brasil, aunque sin perro!! Tambien tuve que salir de mi apartamento, vender muchas cosas, pesar mis maletas y ir al aeropuerto de londres. El vuelo dura 11 horas. Vivi alli en Brasil durante dieciocho anos y aprendi hablar Portuguese fluentemente.
Me encantam sus videos y estoy aprendiendo mucho espanol com ustedes y otras livros, periodicos etc.
Que la vida los trate bien y les traiga felicidad eterna!!

Yo solia mirar a sus videos cuando empezaba en mis estudios, porque Maria habla de forma muy facil de entender. Creo que una de las cosas que más me gusta de Bogotá es su clima. Tienes razón. Es posible que Cody termine hablando mejor que yo. Ya empezó desde el segundo día que llegamos acá, hablando con diferentes personas. Poco a poco va mejorando. Gracias por tus palabras :)

Ok every time you post a video and Maria only speaks Spanish and I understand, I always somehow convince myself that it's because she is dumbing down everything (Which she may). But the fact that she speaks Spanish in such an unstructured situation, tells me she isn't dumbing things down. Which for me to understand makes me feel so good about the effort that I have put into my learning the language. Thanks to the both of you!

Yep. As a Spanish speaker I can assure that she's speaking at a normal pace. So congrats if you're able to understand everything, or most of what she's saying.
@@fkmedia2275 Una buena noticia: ¡Enhorabuena en tu progreso en aprendizaje del Español!. Una mala noticia: aunque Maria habla en su velocidad normal, su acento es muy neutral (Bogotá), su manera de hablar es muy pausada (como AMLO ;)), ella profesora de Español y sabe que palabras usar con los estudiantes (vocabulario básico, no hay jerga, coloquialismos, modismos etc).
En fin, si te encontraras con los nativos del otras partes de Colombia (de la costa, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Cali etc), la gente sin formación Universitaria - No Podrías Entender Casi Nada. Desunfortunadamente... :( Es muy importante darse cuenta de eso con finalidad de no caer en falso sentido del éxito.
@@dimabaikov agreed, she's extremely slow and clear. Hay un montón de hispanohablantes que hablan mucho más rápido, menos claro, y con mucho acento. But she's perfect for someone learning, and later they can advance to the costeños 😮

I'm still trying to learn Spanish, in a casual way. I'm learning, but have to turn on the auto translate to follow because I'm not very far along. I love split, the spanish part is great, talking about everyday common topics of conversation and i love that the english part is included, Cody chiming in helps for missed content. I can see my spanish skills would really improve with this type of learning and its fun to watch !!! Love you both.

I am grateful for your videos. Agreeing with what others have said, Maria speaks so even I can understand. (I've only been studying for 6 months). I love the way you two understand each other and compliment each other with speaking the other language....but not necessarily "interpreting" each other. I'll keep watching and sharing.

Yes, please, create more vlogs. Every day language, describing the things around you, how you feel, what you see and so on are very important for an intermediate learner like me. Also, this method of Spanish first and the translating things into English is very good ( especially words that are a bit more difficult). Thank you!

I just moved 15 duffel bags (with all my stuff in them), from one neighborhood to another neighborhood in Mexico City and was mentallydrained for the following three days. Can't imagine moving all that luggage and a dog from one country to another. Good Job and Congratulations!
