  • Since I last posted a vid, lots has happened. Loads of racing on Amokura (Must get round to editing the footage), a couple of international news events……. But most important of all………. I’ve upgraded from the Folkboat…………….. a bit.
With my parter-in-crime Morag, we’ve bought Provident, a 98 year old Brixham trawler. This video shows the first few months of work.
We will be doing more upgrades inside, then heading to the west of Scotland where we will be welcoming (we hope) lots of guests on board for sailing holidays around the amazing islands and lochs.
    Find out more at www.providentsailing.co.uk
If there are any aspects of the project that you think may make for an interesting video.... leave a comment and I'll see what I can do.

With wooden boats it's never finished. Maybe you'd like to write the next chapter yourself? The folk boat needs a new home.

Fantastic news. This boat is very important to me, not least because my father designed a great deal of the interior during the last big refit in 1990-91 (including the water tank under the main table, if it is still there)

Good to hear from you. Yes the tanks are all still there. All shiny and clean. We have a few plans for some below deck alterations. It would be great to have a chat. If you find our website providentsailing.co.Uk you’ll find our email address.

It is great to see Provident has a new loving home. I sailed on her a few times when she was with Trinity Sailing in Brixham. She is a lovely characterful boat and look forward to sailing on her again. Showers too! luxury indeed. I've visited your website and subscribed to the mailing list. x

Time for a few sailing videos, see how you're progressing with sailing a big gaffer, it's a lot different from 'yotting'....

We've done quite a bit of sailing now including taking the boat from Cornwall to Scotland. There's a video on our site of the trip. www.providentsailing.co.uk/blog/provident-heads-north
We're starting to get the hang of top sails and peak halyards. Parking with an offset prop is still the most exciting bit.
I expect I'll be posting more renovation vids over the winter and some sailing videos next year.
