I've read all the major books on this battle so I wondered if it was worth buying. Well I did go ahead and buy it. It's very very good and brings some fresh insight coupled with new information. It's not revisionist history but presents a fresh look at what occurred. If you enjoyed this talk - get the book. It's that good.

A lot of people will say that Jutland is the greatest. I'm not in that camp. So now I will watch the lecture on the greatest naval battle in history. OK just finished. Very good account with one minor exception. One that almost all historians make. We had no idea of the size of Yamato and Musashi. To us they were just Battleships not Super Battleships. We did not know of their real size until the war was long over. They were not feared any more or less than any other Japanese capital ship.

I agree with Mr. Balducci's remarks. I enjoyed the book. He needs to be a little more aware of his surroundings when giving lectures near podium and opened bottle water..

“Up to date historical documents” sounds somewhat illogical to me…

I have serious doubts about the veracity of his claim that the Japanese Plan Z documents were returned to Cebu and handed back to the Japanese.

When one side has the dominant fleet how can this unfair contest be considered the " greatest". Even if the Japanese had succeeded it would have changed nothing.

Agreed. It isn't the greatest. Not even the 20th century's greatest. That goes Jutland. Over recorded history there are many battles that had more ships, more casualties and greater impact on world history.
