    I just got my Cobra 29 ltd classic up and running as a base unit- 102" Whip 34' in the air and I was picking up Florida, Mississippi, SC, Maryland NY and NJ here in the finger lakes Region of NY on Saturday 👍

    I got my first ssb radio a couple days ago. I talked from Kentucky to Canada on first transmit. I was shocked! Galaxy 959 in pickup truck with Wilson mag mount antenna. I could never do that on AM. So I'm hooked on ssb now! The skip is rolling and I talked all over North America like it was easy 😎. I shoulda bought this galaxy 959 years ago
    Today skip was totally gone though in Kentucky

      @@charlessalard4636 on SSB My amps will take up to 40 watts in. I have a couple of amps that I don't use, because they can only handle 12 watts in on SSB.

    Cool skip clips as always 151! That new antenna set up seems to be doing well for you. I enjoyed watching the video on that as well. I haven't been on the radio much lately but I did go out in my mobile a bit yesterday and got to talk to 1963 Jamaica! 73's from 585SC down here in Charleston. Maybe one day we'll cross paths on the radio.

    The locals like to sit on 38 lsb talking to each other , making it difficult to shoot skip around here . But I've talked to you before John ... 227 South Central NY ... Delbert . I even made it into one of your videos .

      I hear you Bro. makes no sense . At least 40 channels to choose from . Why not QSY and leave the calling channel free for other stations ?? Thats how the rest of the world rolls on the triple nickel. 27.555 USB

      For some unknown reason , whenever the locals decide they want to change the channel that they hang out on to a different frequency ... they always select one of the call frequencies . Then when skip rolls in , they either complain because they can't hear each other because the DX is too loud ... or they get mad because DX land is yelling at them for tying up the call channel . They even use to hang out on Ch 19 at one time for a few years .

    I sure get nostalgic when I hear that Old CB crackling. I gotta figure out how to get a base set up. Have an old tower that needs to be sand blasted, painted, and set. Pretty much starting from scratch really.

    Today 4/20/2021 the skip was outstanding here in the state of South Dakota first it was California, Arizona, Oregon then it toned down then went from Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia then a Mixture of Both so it was a great Day even Talked for a 30 seconds time with Monterey, California was good hope it continues.

    I'm a new subscriber and really like watching and learning from you and a few others out there! I'm fairly new to CB and know a little, but I have a dumb/ rookie question for you. Your call sign 151 and the others I hear while your shooting skip ie; 227, 555, 25, 333, etc. Are those ham call signs? Are they something else? How do I attain one? Just an honest question. Would like to get a number and thought you could give the best answer/advice. Thanks in advance!

      I get asked this question a lot. Most of the Handles and call numbers are Self assigned. Some radio Clubs will give You numbers to use. for example, I'm a member of "World Wide Sidebanders" So sometimes You Might hear Me call out as WWS-568. The 151 that I use comes from the 151 cubic inch engine that Chevrolet made in the 70's, it's My all time favorite engine.

      10-4 on the 3 foot jumper.
      I tried a 3 foot and the SWR went high at the radio. I tried 1foot jumper and the SWR did come down a bit but it is still high.
      Have you experimented with different jumpers?
      I’m reading the SWR on the radio.
      You have probably already played with different jumpers,but hey.....if not,maybe there’s an idea for another video.👍

      @@donmartin7460 I have experimented with different lengths, You may have noticed the SWR meter on My AnyTone does jump around a little, Even though My antenna has a flat match. But a 3 foot jumper between My amp and radio keeps the radio somewhat happy.

      Radio with built in SWR meter to AMP, to SWR meter,to ANTENNA.
      Hoping to get SWR readings good at RADIO and after AMP
      The AMP is a small 150 watt.

    Enjoy your uploads Bro. Just wondering ,why you guys in the USA . Continue a QSO on the calling frequency??? It doesn't make much sense. It can cause a pile up ... Out in the rest of the world on 11m we call on the triple nickel . 27.555 USB and transmit a QSY Channel or frequency to keep the calling channel free.. Is there any rhyme or reason to that ??? I don't see any benefit from that ?? P.S. Still using my Teaberry Stalker 9FDX , and President Jackson Mk1 on 11m and they blow most present day rigs out of the water..

    some sunspots right now.......some sporadic openings.....on 11 Meters (AKA, CB, 27 mHz).....some sporadic 10 meter (28mHz) openings as well......the fade......is normal....up and down......
