    How can people say that Shoes is eating off Dilla's legacy when he's the guy who broke Dilla? People need to learn. And Shoes can hold his own on the production front, check out his stuff.

      how can ppl say he eats off dilla when he makes no money off of dilla.in fact he promotes dilla which makes DILLA'S family money...i know him personally...a great friend..

    There's a difference between "holding it down" for Dilla and just starting conflict for no reason.

  • @Ixtapaaaaa
    @Ixtapaaaaa 15 лет назад +3

    He didn't mean anything bad about it. He made Dilla a producer of his album because he is influenced by his work. It's called an homage.
    Charles Hamilton says weird things when put into a corner, just look at the whole Black Spades Shinin' beat incident. He knew he was wrong but he kept lying.
    The point is, Hamilton never means anything bad from what he does (except to Soulja Boy). None of this should matter, just focus on the music.

    Being a true Dilla fan, I think he should've got clearance from the estate to create that mixtape project. Its a shame that those beats will go to waste. Hopefully Dilla will shine through.

    There is a thin line between paying respect to someone and using their name and legacy to further your own personal situation. Unfortunately, Charles Hamilton seems to be doing the latter. There have been a lot of people using Dilla's name and his beats after he died to promote themselves. There have been a lot of people pretending to raise money for his family when they are just pocketing it. There have been people who are making money off of selling his beats when they have no claim over them.

  • @RivergateShawty
    @RivergateShawty 15 лет назад

    It's one thing to credit J Dilla for inspiration, it's another thing to make J Dilla the executive producer of your album. That's beyond inspiration. And the issue ain't just crediting J Dilla as exec. pro., Charles said that he knew Dilla's people and that he got permission, which he LIED, not realizing that House Shoes was one of DIlla's close friends and the first DJ to get Slum Village played on the radio.

  • @RivergateShawty
    @RivergateShawty 15 лет назад

    on his blog, ch said that he knew phat kat, ma dukes, and talked to illa j... the only reason why i gave ch credit for making dilla exec. pro. was because i thought he got permission... also, dilla doesn't overcompress his beats, ch does. the only time i hear dilla's sound through ch was when HE WAS SAMPLING DILLA... also, if dilla helped make rap what it is today, then hip hop would be in a much better place cause there are STILL people who don't know who dilla is.

    the ONLY THING i agree with house on is that CH shoulda gotten in contact with Ma Dukes before puttin the name on. i understand exactly why Charles put the name on there but he should have definitely gone through with the permission from Ma Dukes first. even so, u can easily state on ur record that Dilla was a big inspiration to u and u felt like he was with u in the process of making the album the whole way.

  • @gootzers87
    @gootzers87 14 лет назад

    This guy needs to simply relax. charles hamilton wasn't claiming that Dilla "literally" was the executive producer, but he "figuratively" was. What he meant was that Dilla was such a big influence on charles' music, that putting his name on the cover was in many ways a "thank you" to Dilla for his legendary work. This House Shoes fella is doing a horrific job representing Detroit, and Mid West Hip Hop in general.

  • @icerox_

  • @LethalJizzle

    Erm....im pretty sure he never claimed dilla produced it. He said dilla inspired him so much when making the album he felt dilla was responsible for the sound of it, and thats why he made him exec producer. Damn, people just speaking out to get their name heard.

  • @MotorMouF1988
    @MotorMouF1988 15 лет назад

    I thnk the reason Charles put dilla's name on the cover because he wanted to pay homage. Charles is a PRODUCER and a HIP-HOP ARTIST. Dilla was a PRODUCER and a HIP-HOP ARTIST. So in retrospect, you gotta think that he probably thought he was channeling Dilla when he was in the studio cutting these songs.. thus he felt the only way to give him credit for the "help" would be to throw his name on the cover.. It's sad that this all ended up being blown up over money and copyrights..

    I'm one of the folks who dont know about CH or House Shoes, but will admit that I was looking forward to see what CH did musically. The whole any publicity is good publicity gimmick mastered by 50cent is corny. But this is beyond corny. I support HipHop but not when it's attached to gimmicky, or disrespectful promotion for the sake of a dollar. Props for not hitting the girl back, BUT using Dillas name as Exec. Producer is wack. Now I see why people HATE him and r not simply hating ON him.peace

  • @aknoblach
    @aknoblach 15 лет назад

    Charles Hamilton ain't going nowhere. Getting punched by a chick, getting clowned on stage by Rhymefest after instigating shit and now this??? Add the fact that Interscope just releases 50, Eminem, and Dre and lets everyone else sit there (Bishop Lamont, Joel Ortiz, Busta fucking Rhymes, the list goes on) and CH isn't getting big ever.

    So be it

    it's bad because it's disrespect to something that was already demolished and can never be retried again. j dilla was all from the heart and love for the game. charles hamilton doesnt even listen to hip hop. he listens to rock.

  • @gootzers87
    @gootzers87 14 лет назад

    @Preset1 yeah thats definitely true, but i think for the overall well being of hip-hop, and for the sake of not escalating any unnecesary beef, house could have taken a different approach to his reaction. Dilla promoted peace, not only by his foundation for children, but within the sound of his music, i don't think Dilla would have neccesarilly supported the way house dealt with this situation. But I get what your saying, charles could have taken a WAY more respectful approach promoting the CD

  • @LivelyFetus

  • @TheNaramatu
    @TheNaramatu 13 лет назад +1

    @82ScottSpeed Lemme peep you to a perspective. House shoes is big in detroit, he is making moves in the game and documenting people making moves. You are watching a youtube video, I could see how you might think that you are arrogant if you said something similar, but you don't catch hype from an entire city or even half of one. That is the difference and that is why people respect what he says, cause he's done put in work and made connections and lived in the hip hop game.They call it RESPECT

  • @jondoinwork

    Too young to know DJ House Shoes....? Everybody knows J Dilla, we all loved the man and appreciate his contribution to hip-hop community and industry. I think that's we all have biasted views on Hamilton's fuck-up. I also know CH as being very underrated and a hardworker, whom has passion in something that many will possibly never experience in their existence on earth. Dude's kind of a weird a spirit, who can be easily misunderstood at the same time as well.

  • @elsofaraway
    @elsofaraway 15 лет назад

    real talk.. I dont hate on Charles Hamiltons skills and honestly this video is hating on that.. But he had no right to put Dilla's name on his album as the E/P. thats what this video is saying. C.H told to house shoes that he was cool with the dilla family but the dilla family from Ma Dukes( Dilla's mom) to Illa J (Dilla's brother) dont know him.
    And House Shoes is not on Dilla's nuts he is one of Dill's closest friends and is deeper in the hip/hop than most of the people watching this video..

  • @hockyplaya2
    @hockyplaya2 15 лет назад

    I can see how Charles was wrong here. But putting his name on his album doesnt seem all that bad. Honestly, I doubt he only did it to get promotion for his album or whatever. I think he just did it out of extreme respect but im not 100% sure of that. Anyway, hopefully people will soon forget this. Charles is a good rapper/ musician and hes finally back now and I wish him nothing but the best and look forward to Normalcy Project to drop tomorrow.

    @gootzers87 Lets have a quick look at it. Dilla & Madlib were pretty much the game from the 90's to the 00's - Madlib still goes on - everyone who wanted to do music wanted to work with them. Dilla brought Detroit into and ontop of the hip hop game, bringing countless artists up. After Dilla passed he asked for a foundation to help disadvantaged children who were talented with music to study at great schools. A man that's done so much, revered by so many gets his name put on some off brown cd?

  • @taross78

    Now...which one of you would be the one willing to execute him? Cast the first stone.

    @gootzers87 Indeed. However if Dilla were still around would Charles of done this? I don't think he would have. However you have to remember House Shoes kept this quiet; by this I mean himself and a few people in that close knit Dilla circle. They then tried to get to the bottom of this and requested for Dilla's name to be removed, this was not the route CH took. Thus HS taking it up a notch and going public leading to Sony/Interscope removing Dilla's name. From what I've seen HS is chill. But..
