Does the top ‘lid’ of the front runner drawer not go the full width of the vehicle space between the wheel arches? Looking at buying it but it’s an expensive bit of kit if I’ve got to make another lid to cover the whole area in the back! Thanks
It will cover the width between the arches, but I wanted it to look like a single piece across the back - therefore I cut additional panels and upholstered them to give a tidy finish.
Thanks! Yes I forgot to mention in the video but it's 4-way stretch carpet. I purchased from amazon here - www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Q2DJJKW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Looks good - I notice though that the drawer isn’t the full width of the bay at the back, why is this? Just wondering if it actually makes the best use of the space.
Thanks! The main reason is that lower hinge and strut on the Defender door takes up some of the space so it can’t physically go the full width. Agree though, it could be slightly wider.
@@ScoutTheDefender ah right yes I see. Is the “dead” space still usable though for eg camping poles, chairs, hi-lift jack maybe? Really nice looking home made job you’ve done there though. Tbh I find the “budget” home grown trucks like yours more interesting than the guys who just go out and buy all the usual kit where money is no object. You have to be more creative on a budget and it makes the build more unique I reckon.
@@solarbuduk Exactly! Yes, totally useable. I use it to fit my security lock but it runs the length of the rear tub so a great place to store camping poles / chairs that kind of thing. 100% agree with you on the home builds. I get a much bigger sense of achievement doing all the work myself and it's a great project to learn on.
Looks great. Planning on doing my next.
Very nice👍
Don’t suppose you have a link to any headlining material? I’m looking to do an Alcantra headliner.
I don’t unfortunately. Im looking to do the same to my headliner so let me know if you track any down.

Nice work, I don't remember if you mentioned it in in the video or not but what type of carpet was it that you used?
