Diana Khoi Nguyen, PhD Creative Writing, 2018
"[Diana] is an exceptionally brilliant, kind, open, and generous individual who deeply cares about education’s place in the world. She is an extraordinary educator and a visionary writer as her publishing record reflects."
This award will be granted to an CAHSS alumnus/a who has graduated within the last 15 years. This award recognizes a nominee's professional or personal achievements which bring honor to CAHSS at DU. This nominee is a growing leader in his/her field, and priority is given to candidates who have demonstrated creativity or originality in their achievements.
Community Engagement Award
Jane Nathanson, BA Art, 1967
"Jane is a psychologist and founder of the Nathanson Family Resilience Center, which is a major training institute for teaching families and individuals, such as returning veterans and children in foster care, how to cope with stress and trauma."
This CAHSS alumni community engagement award is granted to any CAHSS alumnus/a who has dedicated him/herself to serving the community, locally or globally. His/her accomplishments have
improved or enriched the lives of others. His/her contributions need not be publicly renowned, but should demonstrate creative or original achievements that offer societal or educational value. Priority is given to candidates who have contributed to the public good.
Service to CAHSS Award
Katy Williams, BA Theatre and Neuroscience, 2014
"Katy has made a name for herself in Colorado by almost single-handedly bringing puppetry to the theatre community and the public eye. She continues to work with DU's Department of Theatre, consulting on puppetry as well as inviting students to work with her and participate in her artistic endeavors."
The CAHSS alumni service award is granted to an CAHSS alumnus/a who has made significant contributions to the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Denver. He/she has offered his/her time, expertise, enthusiasm and energy to improving liberal arts programming at DU and has helped to preserve and promote CAHSS traditions at DU.
Lifetime Achievement Award
Duane Michals, BA Liberal Arts, 1953
"Duane Michals is a prolific storyteller who introduced and pioneered still-image, multiframe sequences that introduced storytelling to modern photography. Over the years, Duane has returned to Denver to partner with DU's School of Art & Art History and the Denver Art Museum to hold workshops and lectures."
This premier CAHSS alumni achievement award is granted to any CAHSS alumnus/a who has demonstrated special career or personal achievements. This person is a leader in his/her field and has made outstanding contributions to that field. Priority is given to candidates who have contributed to the public good.
