Such a good and beautiful video Jesse, and thanks for putting it out there! I'm currently planning a similar trip myself in the coming week or so, and this has been more than helpful (I've just drawn a diagram with track times on it from the marker posts you so helpfully film along the way!). Hopefully it will come to fruition... so many cancelled trips just lately.

Hey Michelle! So glad you found it helpful in your planning. Such a stunning little loop closeby to you. Have a great time and I'll look forward to your video. Cheers

What a great trip with superb views in those weather conditions. Beautiful campsite too. I think Kaimanawa tramping is the closest we have in the North Island to those to wonderful South Island river valleys and open tops.

Thanks Robin, glad you enjoyed it. I hear that comparison often and have to agree. It's a spectacular area.

Great trip. Thanks for sharing. May I ask what topo app you use on your phone?

Thanks! My mate was using the NZ Topo Map app by Mason Blackwood. I think most of those apps are pretty similar. I'm usually paper maps only so can't comment on long term reliability of the app. Cheers

Wicked views bro. I still need to plan a trip down there sometime. Super busy with work so hopefully soon 🤞.
That ice was pretty cool and that stream looks nice and refreshing!

Mate, what to say about this video. For me personally, it had everything I want to see about the home I left. Walking through the bush, the views. Some bird song too 😎. That second day was breathtaking. The ice in the morning was strange, it has dirt on top, how was this to be? Saturday morning here and we're off out for a walk soon, this set me up nicely, thanks for that 😍😍 cheers.

Cheers! The bird song was definitely a nice suprise. I've seen that ice effect a few times and would love to hear a proper explanation of it from someone in the know. Enjoy your walk

Hey im planning to do the loop soon. Are there plenty of places to fill up water?

    • @ReviloNZwalks

Hey, no there's not. I've read about small possible watercourses around the bushline a little bit off track, and tiny tarns/marsh on the tops you would want a filter for. But we carried all our water for this one.

@ thank for that, ended up going to Waipakihi Hut instead. Hey thanks for all your vids they’ve been great to check out and get some ideas for North Islands waks… any plans for the Tararuas?

@utuba3510 awesome, hope it was a good trip! Love that place and walk.
Thanks for the kind words. Absolutely. Everything is on the wishlist including Tararua. It's just a matter of when, as I'm now Monday - Friday in Whakatane! I will tick them all off slowly but surely
