  • This is a public service announcement about the Malco Eagle Grip locking pliers. These are the BEST locking pliers on the market today and production is already winding and the factory will be closed at the end of the year..... about a month and a half from the time of this video. These are made in the original Petersen Vise Grip factory in Dewitt Nebraska. If you think you might be in the market for the best set of locking pliers money can buy, either today or down the road, you might want to buy some of these now while you still can. It won't be long and these will be gone forever. Unless another tool manufacturer steps up and buy's the factory, this tool will be gone for good.
    The RUclips channel called "Project Farm" has done independent testing and found these to be the best locking pliers money can buy.... and I completely agree with his results. He does an excellent job with all of his tests.

      Some day you will thank yourself for buying them when you had the chance..... especially since you like things made in the USA. (I'm the same way) Congrats!

      Right on! I still have many, many Craftsman (made in USA) tools from years ago, and both my sons will be happy to inherit them someday. I can't think of a better recommendation than that. I'll buy a few pairs of these Eagle Grips too, even though I inherited several pairs of Vice Grips (original USA) myself.

      @@crocodile1313 Yep, I'm the same way. I have many old USA produced tools that in my mind are irreplaceable. Your sons may not know it now, but they'll be happy to have those old USA tools some day. Thanks again!

    I bought 2 pairs of 10" earlier this week. Honestly I'd like to buy 10 sets of all 4 sets that they offer, the clamps with and without swivel pads and 7"/10" pliers, if I had the money laying around.

    Bought 8 sets when the news came out. 4 C clamp style and two 7" curved and straight, and two 10" curved and straight. Super spendy but I'm glad I have them now for the future.

      I'm sure you will thank yourself at some point in the future, for buying those tools now. Quality tools are always nice to have! They are spendy but you know what they say about paying extra for quality.... "Buy once, cry once." These tools will last a lifetime, and more. Thank you.

      I noticed a while back these were still available on Amazon. However, I also noticed the seller was different from when I bought mine. What's weird is... the seller I bought from on Amazon just happened to be located roughly one mile from my house and they offered "local pickup" which I thought was weird. It's the only time I have ever seen "local pickup" offered on Amazon. Anyway, sure enough, they had a commercial warehouse full of tools and I was able to park and walk into the building where a person handed my order to me with a smile. I talked with this person for several minutes. He told me that once Malco announced the end of production, their sales for Eagle Grip locking pliers went through the roof. It instantly became their number one selling item om Amazon. This was late in the year (2022) before production was to officially end so this Amazon seller tried to place another large order for locking pliers but Malco would not accept their order. Both he he and I speculated how long these would be available on Amazon now that the "cat was out of the bag" and he estimated they had enough inventory to get them through then end of the year. (2022) Here we are 8 months later and they are still available on Amazon. It makes you wonder where these are coming from? Who had this inventory horded until now??? The Malco factory has been shut down and the large heavy equipment for making tools has already been auctioned off. The building is empty again. Where is all this new Eagle Grip inventory coming from? It's a mystery to me..... Thanks for the comment.

      @@SlipFitGarage Not sure if you're aware, but Harry J. Epstein out of Kansas City (internet sales also) has had Malco's (all types/sizes) for $29.95 each, plus reasonable shipping cost. Also, AcmeTools also matched that pricing and has Malco's available. Harry Epstein had several large shipments of Malco's delivered to them from Malco just recently (past 2 months), but I believe this will be one of their last shipments and by end of 2023 all distributions will be over.

    Luckily I had bought 2 of them earlier this year I wonder though if they will be available on eBay since they will be no longer available anywhere else because eBay has some brand new USA made Irwin’s that have never been taken out of the package

    • @SlipFitGarage
      @SlipFitGarage  Год назад +1

      Well, any time you see a "new" product for sale on eBay that has been out of production for a while, it's usually a person selling an item that they have either had since it was new and they never opened it.... or they found it new in the package somewhere else and they're now trying to sell it on eBay for a profit. It's not like eBay as a company has the ability to get their hands on products that no longer exist. So sure, you will probably see these trickle through ebay from time to time for many years to come. But they will probably cost far more than just buying them new from Malco while we still can. It's like the old Sears Craftsman hand tools on ebay... When those were sold new in the stores at Sears, they were average hand tools mostly made here in the USA, and they sold for a reasonable price. Now that Craftsman USA tools no longer sold by Sears, they seem to suddenly be worth a fortune on eBay. lol. Thanks for the comment, Sir!

    • @SlipFitGarage

      Yep, but they've gone up in price and not all version are still available, last time I checked anyway. They'll be gone eventually. The factory has been closed and the machinery has been auctioned off. Last I heard, Snap-on bought the tooling to make these locking pliers in one of their own factories. Snap on has all versions available on their site, even the needle nose and C clamp locking pliers. It appears they are producing the entire Eagle Grip line of tools under the Snap on name. At least someone is still making quality locking pliers in the USA. Thanks for the comment.

    Go to flea markets find the old school vice grips

    • @SlipFitGarage
      @SlipFitGarage  Год назад +1

      Yep.... that's a good idea..... and I have indeed done that myself. However, Unless you get lucky and find NOS (new old stock) or Vice Grips that have very little use, they are usually in pretty poor condition at garage sales and/or flea markets. Most of the ones that I have seen have welding spatter all over them with dull rounded teeth, and even sometimes bent so badly they no longer function correctly. I always keep my eye open for good usable Peterson Vice Grips. Luck of the draw, I guess....
