I enjoyed your tour video. I have been to SG several times but did not know about your shop. I will visit the next time I come to SG. I have ordered a CS 000-42 that will be complete Oct 2024, am very excited about that. Cheers!
I bought a D-35 50th anniversary and it plays like a dream.. And last week my wife and I toured Martin Co in Nazareth, PA. and everyone was glad and wanted to be there doing what they were doing. I wonder how many people can say that about their employment. Oh and by the way we met Chris Martin and he was happy to sign my guitar. What an experience everyone made that day ! So all you non believers who say their not worth it, I'm guessing that you don't own a Martin or your listening to the wrong sour grapes. Thats my 2 cents I'm not sure this helps but take a vacation out to see Martin to see the craftsmanship for yourself.
Martin&Co you have been doing an awesome job creating one of the best acoustic guitars in the planet. Preferably I would say Martin is not one of the best its actually "The Best" acoustic guitars in the planet.!!! hats off to all of you guys who've been struggling to bring out amazing guitars like these...!!God bless ya ..!
My Custom OM 42 was made with Madagascar Rosewood and sounds amazing. The trim wood that was chosen adds to a nice finish along with the abalone accents. I’m very satisfied with mine and I think they do nice work.
Thank you for making and sharing this video with us, much appreciated. A view inside Martin many of us will never have the opportunity to see. Ignore the negative comments, some people were just never taught good manners.
In Indonesia there are also many local home made acoustic guitars, guitar shops, handmade by guitar craftsmen in Indonesia, who are no less competitive with well-known companies engaged in the field of guitar musical instruments. for quality guitar costem made Indonesia already can not be doubted from like costem gibson taylor fender cort martin and others and the price is affordable with a fierce sepa and the quality is worldwide with full sholid material and full maple ful full list of ful shells rostek and inaly plant a gold doubel run grofer and continue dual actif and look no less than the famous manufacturers of guitar companies but for materials and sound it doesn't lose. certainly joss even though cheap guitars in indo sepek good all though only costem made by craftsmen ... but for this martin guitar I really like for the question of display and the question of sound can be called joss and can be thumbs up for martin quality manufacturers Good martin ☺😉👌👍
Beautifully figured wood is inherently instable due to internal stresses. Therefore it has long been a practice of using verneer as a surface inhancement and have strength and stability in a straight grained substrate underneath. Thus if I buy a guitar with amazingly complex figure it will be laminated. That is the good thing about Indian rosewood is it's stability with straighter grain than Brazilian. It is still best to make sure you keep your instrument well humidified and this goes for the laminated ones also.
I just completed a custom order on the Martin website and then had to download a PDF copy of the specs, and look for an “authorized dealer” that I can take it too for them to build it. So the guitar gets built in the Martin factory and sent to that authorized dealer? Is that how it works?
Seems like all guitars base them selfs from a Martin so the way I see it just buy a Martin. I bought a d28 HD. So far I had to do away cheap the cheap grover heavy tuning pegs , they slipped from day one. Bought waverly's. I threw away the plastic pins. I bought the guitar in 2011. I only had to have one neck reset after doing that I put on stainless steel frets. I bought the guitar new. So far I have only spent another 1000 bucks to get the action set the way it should have been set in the first place. However even thought I will never get the money back I spent on it. The damn things sounds real sweet now. Bought it for three grand tax's in. Spent another 1000.00 so 4000.00 in and I could sell it for maybe 2500.00.
I was kinda of hoping some one from martin would see this, I guess I forgot to mention the crack and the lifted bridge , that was my own fault guess I had the humidity wrong in the house. Got the bridge glued back down and the crack never went all way through the wood, But like I said after another thousand bucks I have it sounding the way I want.
To bad nobody could strike a line to keep the “Martin Custom Shop” lettering in a straight line. No big deal you say? At this level and price tag it is a huge deal IMO. WHY would you want the neck block to look like a kindergartener lettered it if the rest of your work is flawless?
well over priced, considering 99% of the work is routed on a CNC machine. I could buy a realy nice rosewood pair of back and sides to match those shown for well less than £200.... on a guitar they charge up to £9000 for....your basically paying for the rent on the factory and the electricity.. the rest is bullshit. they are nice guitars tho, I got two.
For one thing, an acoustic guitar can last decades and not only retain it's monetary value, but sometimes increase. Compare that to say consumer electronics which become worthless in a few years like a cell phone or computer. Add to that the fact that these are made in America and contribute to American economy. Also bear in mind that the quality is among the best in the world and hand made. More like a bargain.
Martins aren't the best. Sorry. Have heard better without the price tag. I played several a month ago and they might as well have been firewood. Came home with something else.
When I first tried out a Martin guitar, I was not very impressed either. But I bought a D28 anyway, and as I played it, and got used to it, I found there was a lot more to the guitar than I first thought, it simply sounded better and better. Part of it was that it needed a little breaking in, and another part was that I needed to adjust my technique, the Martin is a more subtle instrument. I like my D28 so much that I ended up getting a D45 as well.

True craftsmanship. I wish more companies would build stuff in the good ol'l usa like Martin.
Liam Silver There are great handbuilt guitars in europe. Lakewood and lowden are an example

Why dont they sell guitars right there . I was thinking of coming down and I am saving for a new Martin . Id love to buy it right there . Thanks
Always wondered why don't they just use 1 solid piece for the top instead of bookmarking 2 pieces?
Cool i wish they could make me a replica 1959 martin d18e
Just buy a d18 put on a pickup and string it the other way around.
Cos your obviously talking about Kurt Cobain lol
I had kinda hoped to see my 1958 0017 mahogany at some point but I guess it's too rare.
No, it’s probably because it’s at your house.

Yes.
***** Sorry to hear that. I haven't had any problems with my HD-35. No guitar process is perfect.

Well, yea: humidification is a HUGE deal. I made sure to 2 Oasis humidifiers in case from Day 1. That sucks.
Why guitar makers join two body pieces instead of a single piece??
Small trees.

anyone know what model the one @ 8:37 is?
I believe it is a J 40
The building guitar is very very "ribet" ...
if you don't mind getting a neck reset, binding pops out, high action , massive belly and cheap plastic pins then martin is for you
Ada yang dari Indonesia
YOU REALLY NEED NOT TO ZOOM IN THE SUBJECTS AND MOVE THE CAMERA SO FAST. ITS VERY HARD TO WATCH PORTIONS OF THE VIDEOS
Oh no, not him again, talking!

Cant you afford a good cameramen? You charge enough for your guitars...terrible job on the camera
can't afford this fancy crap so it sucks to me

Why so much camera movement? Where is the focus most of time?..
awful filming technique
Sound sucks. Whenever camera is panned away from speaker sound falls off. Need a lapel mike.
i don't see any very special skill that other people can't do.
