really enjoyed this Luke! funnily enough I'm currently looking to (majorly) upgrade my scooter. I've been looking at this Aztec complete funnily enough, and the AO maven. my current setup is a pair of crisp blaster bars, district v1 deck, slamm froks, and random pair of 100mm wheels and a threaded headset. it seems harder to find a 5 wide complete under 200 so the aztek looks really good, but one of my issues is what you said about the deck welds and the bars. I've been riding for 10 years, so I wouldn't class myself as a beginner, and have had many setups which have all snapped at some point, and though I'm a smaller rider (5'7) I am aware of the potential snapping on either the bars or the deck... I predominantly ride ledges and rails, and stairs. my questions to you are: 1)are there any other compelete scooters that that include a 5" wide deck under £200 2) how does the bar to deck length ratio hold up on this scooter? Do the proportions feel right, or would you change anything? 3) i ride a 4.5 wide deck. would a 4.7 deck be better to get used to instead of jumping up to 5 wide? reason why I ask is due too the fact that I grew up riding a foldy bolt much scoot myself, and then got a slam, grit, etc. so I wondred if it took getting used to when you switched from your previous setups, to a 5 wide. sorry for all the questions Luke, appreciate the reviews!
I hadn't looked at the maven until you mentioned it as a possibility, but now looking at it, it has IHC (smaller fork tube size) which snap so easy! I wouldn't recommend it unless you plan swap out the fork and compression as the deck on the maven looks quite compelling, it has the same extrusion as the quadrum series with a different headtube which looks pretty good as well :), price is cool too and you would be used to the weight/size.etc from what your current setup is. I use to be picky on width but moving up to wider deck just feels more solid under your feet, the arches of my feet would always gave me grief when i rode 4.5 or under, then i got the 5.2 quadrum and no pain anymore, so cant stress enough on how comfortable it feels, just adds a tiny bit more weight overall. *nice for 50/50s too ;) The Addict Defender complete looks like a better bet however its got a fairly long deck...which would need to be accommodated with at least 24high bars. to answer your 2nd question personally I find a scooter which fits in a square frame is the right ratio, but perfect is slightly taller bars than the deck. hope that makes sense and that is just my personal preference which i could talk for hours about... The astek fountain complete i think would be great for you, will be fairly heavy compared to your DK1 as the metal is a lot thicker and you have the boxed dropouts ( its like having pegs) and you may want to cut the bars down a little bit as they are a little tall in my opinion (and reinforce them ;) ), I brought this scooter as I do think the welds on the deck are good enough to hold and want to try it for myself, but this video is far from a review its more just my impression on it as i haven't ridden the scooter yet, which I do plan to after my quadrum finally gives up, but don't let the welds put you off as I think they will hold up, especially after seeing some of the astek dudes with the same headtube.etc on videos, that's what made me grab it as its a great price, everything else about it is great tbf, especially for the money! hope this all makes sense and answers your questions, thanks for always leaving nice comments! grab a discount code off one of the dogg scooters team riders too for 10%off ;)
@@LukeAkAscooterkid holy cow dude, your a legend for that. no you answerd allot of my questions, and thanks for clearing that up about the headtube as well. we all know headtubes is where the most pressure is applied, so it's good to know this one should hold up. I'll invest and mod if needed, and will definitely let you know how it holds up! Good luck, look forward to your next video Luke :)
