Remember guys its not about how much destruction the car can avoid but absorb. and this car did it well on that front. if the car does not absorb it in the right places it will be transferred to the occupants!
The issue is, you crash a bit faster in this tin can and you'll die. It's about balance between absorbing and still have a strong occupant shell, which this clearly doesn't have.
@@derbigpr500 that is true, in real world you usually wont JUST drive 60kmh, may be you are driving it even 2x faster(120kmh). Imagining crash that tin can at that speed............
Euro ncap have already tested the ford Ka+ in 2017, it was a LHD version. It gained 3 out of 5 stars. Standard safety specifications were abs, ESP, 3 point centre seat belt, speed limiter and 6 airbags as standard. The ford Ka+ has been discontinued in the European market

They changed the way they test the offset frontal impact. Instead of deformable non moving box they use a deformable trailer, both car and trailer running at 50km/h so that resembles more realistically a car to car crash. The full frontal impact to the solid wall is 50km/h.
wait. now it is only 50 to 50 kph?? Then it was 64 kph into stationary barrier, but when now ti is like only 50kph into stationary barrier, so 14kph less, no? Is it really the route forward?
Actually it is a better test and represents the real world scenarios more. In addition, euro ncap engineers can see how the cars structure will interact with other cars so both cars structure and crumple zones can work more effectively.
You're forgetting that the energy is much higher when two cars travelling in opposite directions collide. You have a closing speed which if both cars are travelling at 50MPH would be equivalent of 100MPH. This test is much more representative of what happens in the real world.
Not sure how the scoring is that complex to understand? It did well but it did not do perfectly or as well as other cars. The reason why NCAP use percentages is because it's not pass or fail, it's measured specifically how well it did. Largely, results are quite reasonably based upon forces upon the dummy/body equating to likelihood of injury. The Jazz did not get perfect scores in these measurements, hence not getting 100%. Cars that achieved higher percentages did so because the dummy's/bodies were subdued to lesser forces and thus were less likely to suffer from injury. It's not just about the cars structure holding up and ensuring the passengers have survival space, but that minimal forces are placed on the passengers. When you are decelerating from such a high rate of speed to zero in a matter of milliseconds, it's not just your body being squashed or hitting your head. The shear g-force can cause injury, some cars can absorb the energy more effectively rather then deflect it into the passengers.
2005 - 2015 cars of this size were more solid. Now you see the chassis bend(A pillar, in this case also b & c) at 50kmh, imagine what will happen at 64kmh or 70kmh.
@@sbomorse yes but in slower speeds. Imagine if hit you another bigger car at 70kmh, these cars will collapse and the dash will hit you in the face like old cars. Cars have designated crumple zones designed to protect drivers and passengers by dispersing force received in a crash. Professional crash testers know a lot about what makes a car safe. Your intuition doesn't make you an expert
