Documenting Hip-Hop culture matters. In a world where print media has seemed to have taken a hit, it is still imperative that we document our culture in physical form for historical purposes. The digital world moves so quickly that many pieces of history can be lost in the social media’s news cycle or just simply edited over time. According 2 Hip-Hop has worked diligently to resolve this issue and the answer comes in the form of our Hip-Hop Yearbook. Hip-Hop history needs to be documented in real-time to highlight the entirety of Hip-Hop for the whole calendar year. Year by year we will document our history as we develop a library of Hip-Hop History that can always go back to our book collection and check out. With a start of a new decade, 2021 became perfect to start this tremendous journey. The yearbook includes Top 20 Hip-Hop Songs Of The Year, Top 20 Rap Verses Of The Year, Top 20 Hip-Hop Albums Of The Year, and more.

@@AllTheThings_Coop naw it’s Nas is Coming
Jay is the best @ WHAT HE DOES, Nas is the best @ WHAT HE DOES. I prefer what Nas does to what Jay does. I like substance, creativity and improvisation. For me Jay is more concerned with reinforcing a self created identity, selling records and staying in character than expressing genuine thoughts on life, society and the human condition. He's an entertainer first and foremost. Nas has an artistic voice that spans the gamut of experiences and isn't constrained by keeping up appearances.
People that make the argument Jay lacks substance after 25 years of classic substantive records from Jay are idiots. Between Can I Live and Universal Soldier Jay is likely the most conscious rapper we've seen in decades.
THAT'S CORRECT FATCS
Damn well said
I'm not mad at that assessment but I see it different. Jay rap about his own life and Nas rap about other people's life.

"Da Introduction" (aka double 9 style) from "E. 1999 Eternal" is the greatest intro track ever along with "the Genesis" intro from Illmatic & "Retaliation" from "The Art Of War"💯 hands down especially for first track intros even if track 1# its not a actual song💯 a intro is a intro & I put the intro track one from the "Adrenaline Rush" album up there too same with the "Picture This" album💯

Blueprint >>> It Was Written...
Takeover was not better than Street Dreams
One factor people are missing is that Blueprint was more about Jay not being happy with the SOUND of rap at the time so he put out the album full of soul beats as a counter to the other popular sounds at the time in hip hop. That was strategic because Jay knew the power of his influence musically and then after Blueprint you hear soul samples all over the place in hip hop rather then club based records that was dominating in 2000. This is not an accident.
American Gangster was Jay proving he's the GOAT end of story.
