A couple of things you missed Sean when you load these bikes up with a passenger and all the gear you need a little more power to get moving. Sport tourers are amazing for crunching the miles out when you want to get somewhere. I do 500-600 miles a day when touring, I have tried cruisers and to be honest they look cool but it's much more comfortable on a sport tourer for covering big mileage and the gas mileage is just amazing 45-50 MPG.
I have a 2009, it is the nicest, best bike I’ve ever owned and ridden. It has all the options that allow you ride it every day to work or go to the store or go for a long trip. It’s got tons of power, feels super safe and stable at all speeds. Even has an adjustment for the headlight alignment if you are carrying two people and luggage. Only downside is expensive maintenance and you need specialized tools to repair or fix it.
I have an '09 K1300GT, have put just over 20K miles on it over the last 4 years. Most of the miles from touring, I love it, amazing power, comfort, great luggage and good handling for a large touring bike. The only maintenance issue was a shaft drive seal that started to leak on a trip to Calgary AB. The BMW dealer in Calgary replaced it for just over $100 USD (great service there). Other than that the bike has been reliable and a joy to ride.

Nope not at all. I have an RT and it is honestly easier to work on than my previous bike a Goldwing GL1500. All the common maintenance i have done is much easier on the boxer engine. It really comes down to what you want and what you like but nothing is impossible.
@@bryananderson985 yep, I love how easy it is to Work on the Boxer Engine. Change the Plugs, no problem. Adjust the Valves, no problem. It’s like that pretty much for anything on the Bike. If governed, 125mph top speed. Ungoverned is 156mph; depends on country where it was sold. I work with a guy who has one and it will definitely go faster than 125mph (been with him when he hit 140mph and let off throttle-not on a track).

This was with panniers and a duffle bag on the rear rack and the screen up. Without bags or pillion and the screen low I reckon the bike will do 165-170mph... Before anyone points this out - I know: BMW recommends not exceeding 85mph with panniers ;-)
I agree with those who wish BMW had kept making the 12GT. My favorite bike of all time. I had a Corbin seat and a taller AeroFlow screen. Just a wonderful motorcycle. More nimble than the 16GT. If they had updated all the tech and kept making it, it would be in the absolute top tier of sport touring motorcycles. I made a big mistake selling it. The only thing that kept me from going back was it was a bit tall (even though I’m 6’ tall) even though it just fell into curves unbelievably well and tracked like it was on a rail. It’s also a bit heavier than my current desires dictate. I just got a 2020 R1250RS and although it’s not as fast, has no electronic windscreen or heated seat, it’s seat height is a bit lower and it’s 100lbs lighter.
@@jbrucksnc It does have linked braking. But when the K1300GT was introduced, BMW already stopped using the evo brakes. The k1200 GT that looks very similar to this one did have the evo system. At least that is how it was in Europe. If you pull the brake lever you should hear the servo's whining.
Reason for big BHP in the UK is to overtake cars. so much traffic and all bikers overtake all the time. Driven in the US often and no one overtakes, even on dead straight roads. Why so many solid lines? Drives UK drivers and riders spare.

I love you guys videos and business bro. I want to make sure to buy my first bike from you guys. I'm for sure getting one next year and I'm really looking forward to buying from you guys.
No, it's too wide. Well, you could do it, but you'd be so stressed out that it'd not be worth it. You yourself would be a wreck when you arrive at your destination. Not worth it.......Yea, you could do it, but ....why do it? Get a more narrow bike for lane splitting.
Love your videos guy! Quick question, If you had to have just one road bike, would you go with the 2013 R1200RT or a K1300GT? Thank you, as I have narrowed down my choices to these two and know that I'm 54 and my crazy days are behind me. Matt
Waiting for Sean, I'd pick the R1200RT. I've owned similar to both (K1200RS, R1200S). The boxer has more "character", and servicing is easier. But it just comes down to the deal you find.

I used the K1300 to travel every mountain pass in WA state and did so, then sold it for what I paid for it.
No offence Sean, but you're dismal at 0-60, you always bog down before the power of the bike bales you out. You need a couple of thou more revs before you release the clutch lever. The bike is quicker than you are. But I'm still enjoying your videos so please keep it going.

There are no old, bold riders.
Sorry the 13GT! That was my bike and only made for two years.
@@your_royal_highness Did you find or use a cover you would recommend with the taller windscreen?
I had no idea that they sported 160hp. Wow!
It's a 1300 inline 4 after all
Ultimate Machine 🤝😎👍
this bike is pretty cool and awesome that's it's under 8 k
Maxwell Washington it’s not $8k new.....it’s about $23k new.
WONDERFUL BIKE !!!!!
;-))
The 180 opposed motor is very smooth
Amen it that !!
Humility
This one does not have the power brakes. BMW stopped with those in 2007.
You dont need power brakes TRUST ME! These things have overly sensitive braking in my opinion.
@@kennethwise7108. I know, but in the movie he mentiones that this bike has electrical assisted brakes, which I think it doesn't
It does! It's part of the linked system. Under hard front braking, it also engages the rear brakes
You're so funny:"all your wife's clothing goes in here". Funniest thing I've ever heard. The old ball and chain stays home, thank you very much.
Yeah yeah great bike well-proven runs fine lasts a long time big inline four shaft drive sports tourer.
Really long knees? 😂
Despite his short knees, he still sounds like a nice guy though. :-)
Reason for big BHP in the UK is to overtake cars. so much traffic and all bikers overtake all the time. Driven in the US often and no one overtakes, even on dead straight roads. Why so many solid lines? Drives UK drivers and riders spare.
Gearjammer, also no lane-splitting here.. even for bicycles! Maddening.
Heard about the no filtering law. Thats a tough one and no mistake. Although you can in California I'm told.
BMW designs great toys, it just their toys' reliability and longevity is another story.
I am jealous that it is faster than my VTX 1800, but I feel better that the repair costs and maintenance is much higher than mine. Those facts have to console me, I suppose.
@@joelalexander5338 sorry mate, upkeep on my 750gsx is almost double the cost of a k1300, bmw cars are expensive to upkeep, bikes not so much
Their longevity will probably beat most others, these bikes run for EVER. They can run into reliability issues though.
@@kabish0603 i had my eye on the k1600 for a while, then the blue smoke problem totally killed my desire to buy one
Beautiful bike
I like to listen to your narration, content and style both.
I would like to purchase my next bike from you ( assuming you are still in business, as I think you have closed this channel/bussiness ).
Very good video, as always, got good information/sort-of-feel about K1300GT. Thanks.
Get your hands on a 2011 k1300s with a qui k shifter you will fall in love
I love you guys videos and business bro. I want to make sure to buy my first bike from you guys. I'm for sure getting one next year and I'm really looking forward to buying from you guys.
If I ever get enough Money together to Buy another Bike, it would definitely be from Sean. I would Drive from Texas to PA just to Buy from him.👍👍
Can this bike or other sport touring bikes split lanes on streets and/or freeways?
No, it's too wide. Well, you could do it, but you'd be so stressed out that it'd not be worth it. You yourself would be a wreck when you arrive at your destination. Not worth it.......Yea, you could do it, but ....why do it? Get a more narrow bike for lane splitting.
It's a narrow bike.. definitely lane split
I have a question about the gloves and didn't know where to ask: Will smalls be available at any point?
My favourite bike K1300gt so shape.
Of suzuki puts the hayabusa engine in the gsx 1250 FA
I’m sold!!
You are right, I did 161 on the german Autobahn
My favorite BMW
Love your videos guy! Quick question, If you had to have just one road bike, would you go with the 2013 R1200RT or a K1300GT? Thank you, as I have narrowed down my choices to these two and know that I'm 54 and my crazy days are behind me. Matt
Waiting for Sean, I'd pick the R1200RT. I've owned similar to both (K1200RS, R1200S). The boxer has more "character", and servicing is easier. But it just comes down to the deal you find.
@@hooshd Thanks. I'm thinking the extra "upright" inch or two would be better on the lower back. TY
@@mattcero1 3 years later, what did you buy and how did you like it?
@@billmelcher625 I bought an '09 K1300GT and a '13 1200GSA. I had them both but kept the GSA and it's my daily commuter. I sold the 3 hard boxes and went with Nelson Riggs soft side bags and LOVE them and the decrease in weight.
Power. Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.
I see there is a footpeg lowering kit on there. I have ordered one as well.
You abide by the law huh? Uh huh.
I believe top speed is 157mph. As soon as I manage to get back on bikes I will test one to the max.
BMW hated inline fours from Japan now they copied them never say never
Liked, Subbed and shared on our social media.
Just bought myself one of these in Australia.
I'm considering buying a bmw. Are these bikes reliable?
I have a 2010 k1300 GT(17,975 MIle)
I bought it 5 months ago(April 2022)its very clean like brand new, and I parked the bike in the garage, I use the bike only 5 times till now and that fifth time it happened to me(clutch) but luckily the mechanic said you are very lucky because it's only a clutch hose liking oil.
so I ordered a clutch hose from BMW for £135 and paid £150 to a mechanic for fixing it
he told me to sell the bike because this type of bike has a clutch problem and many people complained.
Anyone can advise me if should i sell it or keep it?
I bought the bike for traveling in UK and euro and it works like a clock right now.
I really like the bike but I'm scared if something like a clutch thing happens to me middle of nowhere.
BMW Motorrad motto is, "Make life a ride".
Owned 4 BMWs. Big maint $$$$. All the time. Get FJR.
thinking about getting a 2006 BMW K1200s with 45 thousand miles. Any advice?
@Spike Elwood nice! Thanks for the reply. Is the clutch thing a common problem with all powerful bikes? Because I've never heard of that before!
I ride a K 1200 GT 2008 I would love to upgrade to that K 1300 gt
Love your videos man but I cringe every time someone says "drive" a motorcycle. I ride my motorcycles and drive my cars. lol
agreed well said
Motorrad motto: Make Life a Ride
a question in the usa do you drive bikes or ride them in the uk we ride bikes
my 71 R75/5 still rides and drives fine after unknown miles. if it breaks I can fix it with a screwdriver, a rock and electrical tape (slight exaggeration). thanks but i'll keep my money.
I doubt that bike, nice as it is will be around in fifty years.
@Donald Trump's Space Force close enough for government work.
shouldn't that be "space farce"? you know, like his "prediduncy"?
My 75/5 once broke a clutch cable. I changed it at the light only missing one green light.
Why do we need that much power? Because everyone appreciates a fast bike! Dare you to pin the throttle.
Bet it's a pig to push when it breaks down
My victory cruiser will do 120 (limited). I'm willing to bet this bmw will hit 160.
I have been driving bmw for 10 years and never seen one of those
Hahaha he abides by the law, and just the other video he thought he was getting pulled over! Love it love it love it!! I want to buy a bike from you guys and come visit so bad.
Us old guys look like we are riding something old, fat, and slow... makes the officer disbelieve his radar.
K1300r ftw
The top speed of every BMW bike is “over 125mph”
I dig just about everything in videos except.......
Nice looking k bike...
German bikes go klunk when shifting..
LOL, you need to pay those dealer servicing and parts rates.
They sell them now from 4000,- euro ;)
Their front headlight is not much better than a candle at night. lol.
Did 160 on a k12, and it had so room left.
