It may all seem like fluff, but when you watch any video of their concerts its remarkably crisp sound, with clear and distinct channels. Unlike so many other concert videos recorded on cell phones
Heard this first hand in Chicago on 5/6. Definitely the most present mix I've ever heard on the floor (5th row), I could hear the articulation in everything. Also, having fractal for the guitars doesn't hurt if you are going for that in-your-face vibe. It felt like the mix was made just for my listening position and not for everyone else in the united center. A perfect sounding show...
Hey if Blink 182 can get $400 a head and fill mega stadiums in 80 cities, over 100 days, then six $40K-$80K racks of great Neve gear isn't out of reach.
Not hard to tell they are planning another live album. All that hardware is not standard for shows. They are polishing capturing the audio for each show. Id say after this album, youll see a live album come out.
The crappy thing about that is that the setlist is kinda mediocre 😩, they could have a killer live album with a lot of other songs, but well hear AGAIN all the small things AGAIN dammit AGAIN adams song. fuck
what the fuck are you talking about? I've seen them 30 times and this upcoming playlist is amazing. It was better at coachella (can do without adams song, ghost on the dancefloor) but it's really amazing@@elmerromero2207
Not to mention Travis is a basher that doesn't really mix his cymbals with the rest of his kit and hits the drums hard enough to choke them. The fact that they make that sound good is the real deal.
The fact Blink is hiring engineers that use Rupert Neve is also a big accomplishment. I think its because of Marks Production/Studio background he built when Tom left. I have no doubt Blink will sound the best this time around, also proud Tom really has improved his live vocals.
Tom knows way more about gear, recording, engineering and post production. Having said that, I still think they sound like shit live. All the gear and best engineers can’t make a bad live musician sound good. But I do think Tom records very well. More talent is heard on the AVA work, in my opinion.
@@mikeheroes5451 I don't usually comment back. However I do think AVA is much more immersive music. Blink is just too sugar sweet for my taste now. I do hope their next album really is best of both worlds of Blink and AVA.
Why do you need that Stuff 2x? For the FOH make sense to me, thats what the people hear in the concert. But why all that stuff for the monitoring? As if the 3 guys from the band care that their monitor mix is looped through a dozen analog racks.
We had a pretty bad sound in Belgium, sitting upstairs (in the cheap seats). I know the place wasn't designed for good acoustics, but the bass drum covered every other sound. Couldn't hear any guitar or voice for the whole show, except when drums were silent. I guess nobody monitored the sound upstairs. Everyone seemed to have a good time downstairs though
Did homeboy say he was going line in for vocals? Was there another preamp in that he was using before hitting the channel that he didn't mention or did he legit go from a mic to a line input? Oof.
I caught that. No, he likely used 1 of a couple options. 1- output from wireless receiver was set to line level or 2- the outboard gear was simply patched in via send/return at line level. My guess would be the 2nd option because I would assume the receivers are onstage and not at FOH. So his mic signal probably was sent to FOH via Dante, and the outboard gear was inserted at FOH.
Trust me, you don’t. Sure they probably charge a high day-rate, but live event AV sucks the most dick, especially corporate. Music would be more tolerable, but most definitely would still suck. I’d much rather make good money and work from home.
Nothing wrong with pitch correction. It's 2023 my guy. No different than a vocalist using any other effect. Imagine getting upset because a guitarist was using a doubler or an octave pedal. Super snobby of you.
Saw Blink last weekend in Antwerp and despite all this expensive gear the sound was a completely horrible, indistinguishable mess. You had to really know the songs to be able to make out what song they were playing.... Definitely not "studio sound" haha. Although I have to admit, the venue is one of the shittiest "arena's" Belgium has to offer...
@@sidvicious332 So does every other huge band that's still touring... What's wrong with that? They're still writing bangers and I'm excited for the new album. Most crowds want to hear the big hits :)

Blink-182 has a sick audio setup 🔥
No wonder they sounded so good at Bridgestone!

@@willudallmusic this video was probably the price for the gear. :)
They bought it all, or their sound company did. (And Mark bought his Shelford Channels, and Travis bought his 5088 console.)

Tom and Mark sound so shit live, they need as much sound engineering equipment as possible to make them sound half decent!
Probably a movie of them reuniting
the setlist is pretty good, every band has to play their hits@@elmerromero2207
It's a hard job making Tom and Mark sound good vocally, so great job sound engineers!

see you in cologne next week! 🤘🎸
I’ve been using thr big portico II channels for guitar and vocals at live gigs for years. Once you do, you never want to go back.
The craziest thing is that there is a $75 candle on top of the board for some reason.
This is so killer. the 5045s are life savers. I've seen the shelfords alot lately. I need to try some.
RND 5045 Secret weapon on drums too! Knee mic tight then distorted/saturated! Punch for days
the shellys are amazing but i find the knobs really annoying. would have been better at 1073 size

I have to disagree. Keep AVA far, far away from Blink. They should adapt the sound of the song, "Not Every Dog Goes to Heaven". @@damonmedekmusic2015
i was at the cologne show 2 weeks ago and i wondered why it sounded so good, now i know haha
wow this is amazing
I wish the would publish that audio for sale. I love their live stuff. It would be a dream to get audio better than just someone’s camera.
Their Coachella set had soundboard audio I believe
Background music not even blink. Nice behind the scenes thought.
i have those compressor on my live 11
Working so well with Vocal 👍👍
The 5045 is absolutely my favorite
Finally!!! 🙌🏻
3 tube techs is crazy 🔥🔥
Meanwhile my band has to play through a Behringer Xenyx lol
And if mixed well the xenyx is brilliant. A good band will sound good through anything make sure you're tight and can play in any situation
a real vocal chain for live performance.....can you all send me a shelford for my home studio :)

Great video but I'm a firm believer in show don't (just) tell. Would have loved to hear a bit of live audio that had gone through the equipment.
