I just attended her recent webinar and it was so helpful! I'll definitely be getting her books as well for myself and S.O., she has great, easy to understand information.
Hi karen ellis, very important video. I like to come to norway to work inthe field of real estate as am done a degree bsc. Estate managrment n valuation and am working here for 22 yrs, in srilanka. I love to work in ur country .visited ur country love to work to norweigen people. Hv a wonderful day!
It's such a pain to do a cover letter for each job. I did one for thirteen jobs in a recruitment agency and they later told me that they wouldn't forward to employers because I wasn't physically in the country. Even though I am an EU citizen. How can I spend a lot of money going there if I don't know if the want me.
Veldig interessant 👍 Tusen takk 😊 I was an exchange student in Norway for a whole year, 40 years ago, so am now in my late fifties. I have often thought of working as an English language teacher in a Norwegian school, but I don’t know how easy it is to get teaching jobs in Norway as a foreigner. In Australia, I am a registered teacher. I am trained and qualified as a primary school teacher. A few years ago, I went back to uni to study German, so now I am also qualified to teach German at both primary and high school level. Ironically, I am (or was) more fluent at speaking conversational Norwegian, than German, as I am not a native German speaker. Currently, I work as a relief teacher. That is, I fill in when the teacher is away, for example, when they are sick. Do you have any information that could help me?
We teach german in high school in Norway, so if you are a qualified german teacher that might be a possibility. Not sure if you need to be able to speak norwegian as well, but you probably do, even though we all speak english very well.
Knowing people can be stronger than what is on your CV in Norway. Your best bet is to seek employment in international schools in Norway, IB schools or special status schools like friskole . Knowing Norwegian is a legal requirement to work in your typical state school in Norway. You will need at least a B2 in all 4 parts of the test; listening, writing, reading comprehension and oral. There is the Bergenstest and the Kompetanse Norge test. The former has a bit more prestige. It is also a requirement because to be a teacher in Norwegian state schools normally involves at least two disciplines, for example norwegian and english or english and math. Rules now have gotten so strict for future and existing teachers to the point that a massive exodus is rumored in the next 5 years.
