      With regards to being kind against being right.
      I see this differently: We are like in a storm situation on the open sea in a small boat. Building a bigger boat is nice, but letting someone in who will drill a hole in your boat is a lethal mistake. And if you see & hear someone spouting nonsense, what guarantee do you have that they are not gonna hull your boat?

    I am mathematician. I have done some research. After federal taxes , SS and Medicare taxes, state taxes, sales taxes, car registration taxes, car insurance, home insurance, property taxes....I determined that the average American is left with a little less that 32 pennies for every dollars earned. The 32 pennies will have to pay for Internet, gas, food , meds and clothes. So at the end of the month, there is nothing left. That , ladies and gentlemen, is for a $55 k salary per year. Unbelievable. Our kids cannot afford rent. This is a very sad state of affairs. My kids buy their clothes from a good will store. And people brag about how the US has less taxes than other countries. They fail to realize that other countries actually have some social programs. Not so much these days, although old habits die hard.

      @@kellytostada9949 It seems to me and apparently a lot of more expert observers that we are entering the intelligent and able machine era. It is very doubtful that unions are coming back because our labor likely is going to be less and less valuable - approaching zero. Machines are even going to be more effective artists, prostitutes, caregivers, CEOs, criminals, scientists - everything. Unions will have nothing to bargain with - machines will be better at violence too, so you can forget that as a bargaining chip.

    I've been a gardener for over 40 years. I was an urban police officer, who on a particular day responded on a call for help from another police officer and when I and other officers arrived, that officer had been killed. Fast forward - gardening offered a place of solitude (a sanctuary) and peace and food to put on the table. That solitude offers you a place to work things out in your head and heart. Today, I encourage everyone I speak with to grow something. I usually start with giving them a package of radish seeds. Anyone can grow radishes. Once they realize they can grow vegetables, then I help them plan, prepare and plant their next year's garden. They are always grateful to have been introduced to their very own special place. MY GARDEN. Start now, ask a gardener. They will be more than willing to help you learn so that they will be able to teach someone else. Keep on prepping!

    We saw greedy landlords in Idaho raise rent by over 50% when everyone started buying up our real estate out here. Their excuse was that the "value" of their property was higher so they could. charge more. In other words, it was greed. Their mortgage payments hadn't increased...so when we blame everything on the system sometimes that's not exactly correct.

    Prices are super crazy right now. So are taxes and fees. Ridiculous. But I've found most people are living beyond their means which is making it harder to "make it" these days. Here are some things we've learned along the way to stay out of debt - Be a producer - not a consumer. Focus on non-monentary income. What items can you make instead of buy? Especially food. Make your own food as often as you can. It doesn't have to be fancy or complicated. Do you really need a $600 phone? Small expenses add up! Speaking from personal experience, I evaluated every penny I was spending and found I was the problem. I made enough money I just wasn't allocating properly. My suggestion is to take a painful look at your spending, a real, very, painful look and see if there's anything you can do to lower your expenses. I got a receipt for everything, I started growing my own food, I got a smart thermostat and wore a sweatshirt and sweatpants in the winter so I could keep the temperature at 68 instead of 70. I walk when I'm able instead of driving. The hardest part was acknowledging what I can't change. I can't change the price of an item, but I can choose how and when I spend my money. I hope this is helpful.

That social worker may have started her career with the best intentions but after years of seeing & dealing with so much physical & emotional chaos, even the strongest case workers become hardened & jaded. Add ing to the depression is the fact that they are being paid the lowest salaries of any degree required career. It’s awful but sadly that’s no excuse to treat people so badly.

    I think tackling the grocery bill is a good place to start. I also think roommates or selling your home for a multifamily building such as a 2-4 family would be helpful. Your tenants will pay for the mortgage and utilities. If you're a renter with no savings you need a side hustle. If you're older or have health issues reach out to family or religious organizations. I read through many of the comments and people are saying eat at home. I couldn't't agree more. It's not only cheaper but it's healthier. I always mention on channels like this that you need to buy whole chickens and make bone broth from it. Utilize food extenders like pasta and rice. These items are cheap and go a long way. Make your own bread. I think the channel is Pioneer Kitchen and she had a great bread recipe called peasant bread that I'm actually making as I type this. 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of warm water, 1 tsp each of the following; salt, sugar, and yeast. Butter up a cast iron skillet (I use an 8" skillet) mix the dry ingredients in the skillet then add the water. Mix well. Cover and let rise for 2 hours and beat down. Let it rise another 30 minutes then bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. This is about 40 cents per loaf. No kneading and can be made in minutes. Get creative folks because it's going to get more challenging.

It takes me 5 minutes to gather and measure the ingredients and turn on the machine. Less time and effort than it would take me to run to the store for a $4 loaf of bread. My approach is quite simple. I manage my health the same way I manage my finances. I stay frugal in my spending, I stay in shape and meditate everyday. Folks need to stay focused on how they spend, stay fit, and stay focused. Now, with that being noted I imagine that folks will comment that I am not in their same financial situation. The fact is I am I was placed on disability 11 years ago after a horriable accident. I am in my late 60's yet I live a very comfortable lifestyle. I eat once per day (the truth). I do not eat at fast food restrauants. I manage my money as I always have been as when I was working. I eat a power bowl every day, or a salad that's it. My preps are simple, when I go shopping I pick up an extra jar of peanut butter, canned food and always buy fresh vegatables when I want a salad. I believe it's all in a mind set. Moreover, I make and sell jewlery on Etsy and Ebay. I use my mind to create extra income. Your comment on junk food is spot on people need to stay away from that venue for food.----Would love to do a video with you---Dr. JWL

    Thanks Kris! All good things to consider. I’d love more videos on how to stretch a dollar! I’m starting to remember things my depression era grand parents would do like washing aluminum foil and hanging it on the clothes line. We’re going to have to get creative. Sharing ideas helps.

    I’ve worked at least one fulltime job since age 15, usually multiple jobs. I rented rooms in shared houses until mid-20’s when I graduated and got married. Then it was a dual income family household. I think part of the problem is young single people have unrealistic expectations of quality of life as young adults. Not all of the problem, but def part of it.

    As a Veteran I have always tried to stay left of the booming, even if the ultra rich think it is wonderful for them. I suspect that they didn't get light years ahead by being kind and generous, but I may be wrong. However, I must say that being realistic as a philosophy of life is a sound practice that most often leads to staying alive.

    Chris, time and time again you speak logic, you care and that is a very good way to live. There are some preppers who were awesome on RUclips at first and now they are focusing on the world in crisis. You are right, we can't worry about what we can't change. Work on what you can. I fear for my children and grandchildren. How are they to live? God bless you for what you do.

      Don't be so hard on yourself. Just because one made all the right decisions in life, and worked hard for it, doesn't always guarantee that it will work out in the end. In fact, the majority of the time it never does, or partially does. I also wasted years receiving an education, worked within multiple fields, etc and nothing ever came from it. You just have to try to focus your attention to other areas of life that you have more control over. I think we tend to forget that social classes still exist. We have gone a good two decades being conditioned to think that social class no longer exists. The reason why others may have outperformed you in life may also be due to them having help along the way. Not all of us are born within families with parents who had the money to help their children kickstart their lives. There's nothing wrong with that btw. Once again, don't be too hard on yourself.

    I see prepping as a mindset and lifestyle. Imagine living in Florida and a neighbor told you to board up your windows, you would probably say no. You moved to Florida for the sunshine, but if they said a really bad hurricane is coming, board up your windows so your windows aren't broken and rain gets in, you may listen. It requires the bad first, and then the solution or people won't listen. When I hear about something bad, I immediately start thinking of how to overcome what is coming. You can not control a storm, but you can control the temperature in your greenhouse. You can not control the wars or the economic collapse, but you can do things to mitigate the effects of it, provided you have a plan and work on the necessary skills. I find peace in knowing what to do when things go bad because being proactive generates peace, but being reactive contributes to chaos.

      The thing that has always amazed me is that people just don't seem to grasp the concept that merely being alive requires "prepping." Setting aside money to pay your bills is prepping, proper hygiene is prepping, regular ongoing maintenance of your car/home/relationships is prepping.

    • @mikek001
      @mikek001 4 месяца назад

      @hottuna7 you are correct. Prepping has been given a bad name because those who are in power don't want people to be prepared so they have to rely on the government.

      This is the ONLY mindset that works. Excessive conversation about how to 'stop these elites' is futile. Find out what the plan is and how to survive it. I also find that my mind is clear. I depend on my Creator and I tell Him, 'I've done and am doing all I can do. Lord, the rest is in your hands.' My sleep is peaceful.

    • @mikek001
      @mikek001 4 месяца назад

      @@fitgirlism3038 I couldn't agree more. The antichrist will rule over every tribe tongue and nation. America is the leader of the free world, and when America falls, the rest of the free world falls. It paves the way for the antichrist. It isn't a question of if but when. You can't stop biblical prophecy, and I have the same delimma as Paul. Homesteading may be one way to not have to take the mark. Telling that to some people, they resort to saying "well I'm not going to be here." Numerous people think I'm crazy for thinking the way I do.

    People NEED to find ways to stay mentally positve through every thing. With every thing going on in the world lately, the very first thing to go is your mental state. There have to be ways to stay positive. A video on some ideas to stay positive and keep your mental state in a good place would be helpful for lots of people.
