Well, you have asked very important question. 1. You should never over water roses. Which means you water only when the soil tends to dry. Never in wet soil. The rose roots die quickly due to waterlogging. 2. So as in summer the temp goes 38 to 42 deg. Need to water in morning and maybe in the evening again. In winter it can be 2 to 10 deg. So may not water for 3 - 6 days. Soil is wet - don't water. 3. We have rainy season. My soil and containers are such that what ever water you pour in it drains out in about a minute . So no waterloghing. 4. Dont use cocpeat or coir it holds moisture and kills roses.

Very important for flowering. 1.Direct Sunlight at least 4- 6 hours. Cut all blind shoots which dont give flowers by 3 inches. Remove all old dead flowers. Thanks. Almost all roses are good. While selecting. 1. Rose union should be thick. Stems should healthy and thick without disease or pests. 2. Try to buy bigger rose plants as they establish fast and can handle first summer heat of May and June. There is no harm in young ones if cheap but they can sometimes die in first summer heat and take a year to come up well. I also buy younger cheap ones as they are almost 1/4 the price of older ones. 3. Buy some HT roses and more of floribunda. One or two climbing (trailing). Some miniflora. Thus your garden will be full of blooms ever. 4. Take time buy rose plants as you may not get all at same time and at one nursery. 5. Still its a learning curve and everyones inputs are most welcome. Well, initially when i was experimenting, I just opened up the two holes which are standard in any plastic pot. I believe the are 1 cm in dia. You can have four of these diagonally opposite as over time they tend to get blocked. After year or two you may need to tilt the pot to one side by placing a stone. The soil/ roots blocks the holes in older plants Regards

Well, I use plastic as 1. There is very less sunlight in winters and almost full day in summers - so can easily move them. Moving cement and clay will be difficult. 2. Plastic are light thus less weight on roof. 3. Clay may be better for roses as they have pores and let the soil breathe. Good for roots. 4. few things I found which made difference. 1. Soil - 50:50 cow manure and soil. Cow manure should be rotten. 2. MUST : Drainage should be ample water should drain within few minutes 3-4 minutes max. 3. DAP: every 30 days and only little 10-15 grains ( 1/4 spoon) . away from main stem r and water before and after. Use NPK occasionally. 4. Dont fertilize in very hot months May June. Fertilize always when sun has set or 1 hour before sunrise. Not in direct sunlight. 5. Don't put pots on Granite / Marble it will burn in hot months. Water when sun is not there. You may need to water twice in summers. 6. Remove old flowers regularly. Cut where stem is comparatively strong and bud facing outwards. 7. Some varieties flower more you may select them. 8. Direct bright sunlight/ Sun rays for 4-6 hours. Keep plants in partial shade or full shade in May June July to save them from burning. 9. My observation : Roses from Pune have better root stock this makes them grow bigger and faster. They usually come in Black plastic pots. 10. I use rogor for pest - thrip; mites etc. Use in shade. Wat duration will the fertilizer wants for plants...i have many questions please clear my doubt...
few things I found which made difference.
1. Soil - 50:50 cow manure and soil. Cow manure should be rotten.
2. MUST : Drainage should be ample water should drain within few minutes 3-4 minutes max.
3. DAP: every 30 days and only little 10-15 grains ( 1/4 spoon) . away from main stem r and water before and after. Use NPK occasionally.
4. Dont fertilize in very hot months May June. Fertilize always when sun has set or 1 hour before sunrise. Not in direct sunlight.
5. Don't put pots on Granite / Marble it will burn in hot months. Water when sun is not there. You may need to water twice in summers.
6. Remove old flowers regularly. Cut where stem is comparatively strong and bud facing outwards.
7. Some varieties flower more you may select them.
8. Direct bright sunlight/ Sun rays for 4-6 hours. Keep plants in partial shade or full shade in May June July to save them from burning.
9. My observation : Roses from Pune have better root stock this makes them grow bigger and faster.
They usually come in Black plastic pots.
10. I use rogor for pest - thrip; mites etc. Use in shade.

All are telling waste ideas and make their videos lengthy to cover the video timings to make money. U are really a good grower. Make short and ideal videos to roses it will really helpful. My rose plants are die back issues. Stems are healthy without any leaves. Any suggestions please.
