I had this same idea, figured correctly that others would have already had it too. Now i want to build my own model

Ingenious and practical, how few are able to see how natures energy is much more harmonious than the mechanical waste of complex so called sophistication. Would like to see more folks approach the simple applications to harmonize with natural energy.

I am also interested in wave powered floats or boats. In my own still patentable design I use the relative interaction between the much lighter vertically deep/long outer keel casting or long vertical still water content column holder and the vertically still water content (of keel as holder/flattened tube).
When the floating boat/floater rides the wave upwards, thus rises, the keel shell as holder rise upwards with but the inertia of the much heavier content water makes the still water column collide on keel container rise at the bottom, creating a positive relative pressure at the bottom and a negative relative pressure at the top of the hollow wave power keel. The increased pressure and one way valve equivalent valve action allows the low pressure on keel rise at the top to suck in water at the frontal top edge inlet and jet out water at the rearward bottom outlet backwards. Both the top front edge inlet and bottom backward outlet causes propulsion on both top and bottom of the top floated and bottom weighted keel due to the content still water column's intrinsic inertia.
When the boat and keel shell or ram water container descends or drops under undulating surface wave action with or without a lever or rock action the cross over top/bottom front/rear opposite to the on rise up will happen. On decent the content still water inertial ram column will collide with the outer keel shell or holder on the top end creating a positive pressure relative pressure inside the top of the keel that gets diverted as water outlet flow backwards on top and the opposing lower or negative relative pressure sucks in water due to one way front to back equivalent valve action from the frontal cross opposite inlet at the bottom end where the pressure dropped on descend.
Because of this rise fall crossover valve action and the advantage of the deep/long inertial water ram effect in the keel a very up/down movement sensitive inlet-ram-outlet mass flow, velocity, thrust & power water jet wave powered keel boat/float linear or rotary drive system can so be accomplished!
I, Izak, can be contacted at +27 72 949 5722, I have a RUclips channel @IzakVanDerWesthuizen423 so anyone involved or interested in wave power or wave powered ring or linear boats, including the researcher/inventor in this vidio are welcome to befriend or contact me but please no nonsense will be taken from scammers, chancers or any kind of criminal.

      Very nice thinking 🤔

I've seen another one on the beeb where the boat was more dolphin like with fins each side and a large one at the rear.
Certainly stopped the boat rocking. Seemed well fast in a swell.

Now I'm picturing a beam on a central pivot that can be wind driven from any direction for additional power, or even an engine for no wind no wave conditions

One must be careful as in a wave the particles of the water moves up and down too avend so if the platform moves up with the flap there will be no driving power. If the craft pitches or rolls then that will be fine, but not if the platform goes up and down with the wave,
So I would suggest that a platform with a higher but safe centre of gravity will cause the platform to sway more and that is what that rotation system needs. So in fact if one needs to extract power from waves the platform will have to roll and pitch a lot and the passengers will not like it. Perhaps we should stick to power stations extracting wave power with no one on the platform.
If a person puts two flaps one on each foot and acts as if he is riding a bicycle he could propel himself forward and if a slight modification to the flap is arranged he could also fly as after all this is the wing of a bird in action.
