Really nice and smart design for Giant. In the past D-Fuse was a deal breaker for me. Another deal breaker from other companies is adding suspension onto these bikes. I love how simple they’ve kept it. Love the standard headset and spacers. 👍
Thanks for the review, that’s the bike I ordered and should be getting in a few weeks. I upgraded the wheels to cxr-2 carbon wheels and upgraded the tires also. Can’t wait to get it, it seemed one of the best deals on the market right now
Just ordered mine, but have no experience with bikes, yet. how can I think about possible upgrades of tires etc. do you mind sharing your thoughts? so far, I only ordered a metro lite rack and fenders. thanks!
@@0301chris1 I would think about upgrades there being 2 kinds. Purpose driven and nice to have. Purpose would like for me changing the tires to maxxis receptors was because I ride hard packed dirt roads and light gravel plus tarmac so this made sense. Buying bags if you do bike packing is also purposely driven. Changing the saddle if the one on the bike doesn’t fit you is the same purpose driven upgrades. Getting the lighter wheels I got was mostly to shave some weight, so not something really that was needed. Do first, you should ask yourself what you want to do with your bike and equip it to meet your needs. If you have spare money, go for what tickled you. Hope this helps
Agree with earlier comments that weight incorrect. I bought size small (I'm 5ft 7ins) but understand M is 9.56kg without pedals! PX2 wheelset are very heavy duty, I believe approx 2.5kg (haven't weighed myself). If using as road and have around 750 bucks - if only! :( - for carbon wheels could save approx 1kg and Panracer GK slicks another 200g over heavy Crosscuts.
Hi thanks for the video. I’m waiting for my bike, meanwhile, I’m looking to buy a kickstand. Does this bike have a two screws centre mount where the back disk set is? There is a giant stand that I’m interested in and want to make sure it fits
nice review, work on your sound quality, if you won't be riding a bike maybe you could drill deeper into the specs, re types of spokes, component length per size, stem crank arms even paint quality etc
Is this fast using mainly as a road & commuter bike. Obv you can put road tyres on but intending just using the stock tyres? Replacing my road bike and loved the speed on this but want the option to occasionally go off road. Don't want to make the wrong type of of bike choice but do not feel safe on my road bike in winter and this will do a lot better on the river trail I sometimes use. Would you get this if using it mainly for commutes? A work colleague was recommending hybrids but figure this should perform as well on roads and a lot better offroad. An answer from James or any cyclists using this would be greatly appreciated.
how is the geo of this bike? is it comfy like an endurance bike? or more of a racy gravel? Thinking about getting an endurance bike because it has more comfy geo but gravel bikes now are evolving to a do it all bike. Ty
Thanks so much, finally an smart person who explain the real important things about this bike instead of making me lose my time, as courtesy did liked your video bro!
I am getting used to mine after 8 years on a Defy Advanced. I changed out the tires for GP 5000s because I mostly ride on tarmac. That adds 1.5 - 2 mph to my average speed.
Hi Brooke.. I’m a new rider so hope you can help.. do we change both the rims and tyres to be suited for tarmac ? Or does the current rims allows for a tyre change only ? What’s the width if your road tyres you’ve chosen to go with
you are clearly very knowledgable, it was just filled with terminology in a way that that didn't realize explain what it actually 'meant' for someone that wasn't so ingrained in that world. like what does this mean in terms of riding, comfort, agility, etc.?
It's an absolutely beautiful color. Indoors. It comes off much darker than it does when it goes outside, mostly because of all the reflectivity in the glitter that's in the paint
@@Jamesthebikeguy thanks for getting back to me.Colour looked fab before but even better now. Cant wait to get delivery of mine. Unfortunately, been put back a month. Due in August now, fingers crossed
Where do you find the seat post rear rack adapter and what rear racks would fit this bike? I just purchased this bike and love it and am looking forward to some bikepacking with it.
I appreciate your thoughts, however, I was aware that this had audio issues. I have since fixed the technology problem that plagued about a week and a half of my videos. The question I would ask is would you rather have this video or no video at all? Because the only way to have fixed it would have been to simply disregard the video and never put it up
I think it's got plenty of trail. The fork offset helps, and this bike is designed to feel just as good on the road as it is off, so it's not going to be a mountain bike with drop bars like some adventurous gravel bites
@@jbwillson Agreed, I really miss my Defy Advanced in that regard (a 2015 model). Switched to an alloy Domane for winter riding and man that thing just beats me up. So looking at going to a Revolt or the current Defy Advanced in spring, main requirement is 32mm tyres plus mudguards, which is borderline on the Defy.
@@Jamesthebikeguy with the 2022 model it seems they crack at the seat tube fairly quickly , hairline crack. It’s down to the wedge . Lots of people have replaced the frame . It’s really common
Finally got mine; not very happy with the bike: Giant accessories (fenders, racks etc) are very badly designed, and manuals do not explain how to mount them to newer bikes. Mounting Giant fenders and a rack was a nightmare . Rack - I have no clue how to mount it, no manual, no explanations - there is one very long You tube video by some guy but this may not apply to the 2022 bike. Fenders are fragile and come with very soft screws that wear out easily and because they don't really fit this bike's drill holes very well, several got stuck and I had to use pliers and force to remove them. Giant did mount the front derailleur so that the support belt does not touch the frame and hangs in the air left of the frame. That is probably why they do not even bother to attach the backup plate despite clear Shimano instructions! Had I known about these issues, I would have avoided this bike.
Great review, thank you. How would this go as a road bike, say with 700x32 slicks?
Its fast. I have 35c road tyres on mine and i cant tell any difference with my Specialized Roubaix endurance bike.
I like how you can put a round seat post in the frame if you don’t want the D-fuse one.
thanks for making such great videos. im trying to find a good bike for myself. and your videos help a lot.
Just purchased this bike, loving it so far; your video helped me make the decision, so thanks!

the seat tube on this frame is a 30.9, not a 27.2
For the price this is really nice
One correction to point out. It will accept a 30.9 seatpost.
Thanks for the correction
@@Jamesthebikeguy this is an important correction. 30.9 is the standard dropper post diameter. You could have edited your vid with the correction.

wow did not know there is an adapter for racks on the seatpost, my revolt 2022 did not come with that haha
Mine neither 😅
My neither too but I bought this part - Giant number : 150000066. Still don’t know if this adapter can be used with carbon seat post.
I'm thinking of buying this bike for my first gravel bike. I've only had 29ers. Will this bike be faster and more efficient than a 29er?
Same here...just tested a few...really liked the Revolt the best

Is the weight correct? 18.88lbs/8.56kg for 2022 Revolt Advanced 2 seems almost too light. It should be more like 9.5kg?
Doesn't seem quite correct to me either.
My 2022 Revolt Advanced 2 (Australian spec, which appears the same except for 40C Maxxis Receptor tyres) with Shimano XT PD-M8100 was 9.6kg in a M/L
@@JPMTB100 Minus pedals that's about 9.3kg so pretty far from 8.56 kg here. Also those Receptors should be a fair bit lighter than the Crosscuts.
