Horse riding is a really hard sport, even if you can only jump 30cm in trot that’s still really good, don’t compare yourself it takes ages to learn and your doing something thousands of people could never do ❤

Wow, riding side saddle is a true art form in my opinion. I’ve tried it once or twice and I couldn’t even trot. You definitely aced this challenge Esme today. Well done!❤️❤️
One time I was riding my horse and I was very bored so I did bare back side saddle
From what I've heard it's best to skip trotting and instead cantering because it's less bouncy. I've also heard that there was an old saying that "a lady never trots."
Side saddling sounds fun! But I bet it’s extremely difficult I’d probably fall off straight away 😭😂

This just goes to show what a good and professional rider you are Esme, I have been riding for over 4 years and I know that's not that long but I am very good at riding and I would be scared stiff to even attempt trotting sidesaddle. I can sit and walk sidesaddle but. Love how you try new horse sports and challenges, you're never afraid to give things a go. From here in Australia, Have a wonderful day!

I have a side saddle that was my great grandmas, I’ll occasionally use it on a friends horse (I exercise her 3-4x a week since she can’t because of volleyball) I don’t use it for very long or very often, but it is fun, definitely going to use some tips from this video- I don’t think I’ll be able to give up my regular jumping saddle though 😂

Hey esme!! Today I rode a 6 year old gelding called Reggie, he’s a mix and I know he’s got shire and cob in him, I was nervous but I love him so much

You were literally 2 mins drive away from my family home. My mum first learnt to ride there back in the 1980s, and when I was a young child I went with my dad to watch her ride a few times. And I’ve ridden there myself a couple of times over the years. The lovely arena you were in, is a new addition though. There was an outdoor arena there before but definitely not as nice as that one!
You did SO well riding side saddle.. many years ago I had a go at it at a Pony Club rally one time and it is the strangest sensation!

Hi esme! You are a huge inspiration for me, I had a bad fall on Wednesday and I was hoping you would have any tips to get my confidence back for jumping again. We were going into a jump and my horse tripped and fell on me, we are both ok and we got the vet to come and check her, and the fiscio also came to massage her, I am also ok but I have lost a lot of my confidence and watching you jump side saddle amazes me!! You are so brave! I take my hat off for you! P.S I love Bridgeton!!! 😂
I know this probably isn't any help but we all have confidence knocks it just takes time and patience to get over them. ☺️

I live in Finland and about 35 years ago i was a assistent when filming old time film and then i training a horse for that kind of saddle, and it so fun to riding sidesaddle, and suprising easy 😊
