Texas Weather Forecast: Popup Summer Storms & Heat

- Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon into Friday across the southeastern third of Texas. Tropical moisture remains abundant, and with summer-time temperatures, it won’t take much to get some popups going. Widespread severe weather is not expected, but storms will produce frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall. Activity may continue into the night and Friday. The (relative) highest chance for isolated storms will shift into the western half of Texas this weekend and early next week.
The upper-level heat dome, centered over the West Coast, will nudge east into the Four Corners this weekend. It doesn’t look like it’ll set up directly over Texas over the next five days. That means it’ll remain seasonably hot, but we may continue seeing daily isolated popup convection. High temperatures across Texas will range from the upper 80s in the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains and along the Texas Gulf Coast (though humidity will make it feel closer to 100!). Otherwise, high temperatures will continue to be in the 90s to lower 100s.

It's tempting to park in the shade. If you live in areas Beryl visited, don't park under trees. Branches will continue to fall and weakened trees will too the next few weeks. It happened after Ike to many people around Houston.

No more winds! There a leaning tower of pine tree in my neighbors yard. One gust of wind and I'm afraid that tree will fall.

I'm so sorry you are without power. I've been there so I know what you're going through. Luckily we didn't loose power, I just knew we would but thank you Lord we didn't. Hopefully it will be back on very soon!😊

Been without power and cleaning up the tree that fell on my mom's house. It's been a rough few days, but I'm thankful for my generator.
Sitting with coffee, in east Houston. No power yet. Generators hummed all night. Fans and screen doors made sleeping easier. Now another day of patience.
They are working on it. I see the line crews from sun up to sun down. My coworker said they have crews working over night too. My area got power back yesterday. We parked the car in the shade and sat in there with a/c on.

We have had stuff like that here in NW Pennsylvania.
We have had microbursts.
When the funnel tail drops up and down like a sewing machine needle. Smashing here lifting and missing there then smash down again. Typically repeatedly before before weakening.
At least one storm from yesterday was a LP supercell. I know because I photographed it as it came into navarro county.
Everything misses north Austin, need some action.

Actually cooler so far in Austin this summer, 80 days 100+ last summer. Don't think we've broken 100 this year yet.
East Houston and still no power. Not one power truck anywhere within miles. I called abotts office yesterday to let them know what was going on in Houston, and was hung up on. I called back and was talked to like a child by an unpro staff member of his.
In Ohio the weather man often spoke of popcorn showers.
