1:05 believe these words because it’s so true.. I hated school and was the worst kid there was, but when I was ready I went to university and graduated with multiple degrees.

This is great. However, without a lateral increasing focus on discipline it is too little too late. These are the more impressive and reasonable disadvantaged students most fortunate to be attending a campus with a heart. Take a broader look and you'll see preteens committing unspeakable acts of violence and other antisocial behaviours. These issues will take a generation to effectively resolve, at least. Our younglings must be raised by adults with consciences, not big kids!

@Kali K High schools don't force multiple choice questions nor do we learn from one textbook. Uni is expensive but HECS makes it somewhat ok and the cost isn't nearly as bad as some places. Imo it's the lack of resources and proper guidance of the staff first and foremost that leaves schools in a dysfunctional state. Children need a calm, safe environment where they feel they are noticed and respected so that they themselves can learn to provide this environment for others. It's a two way street. I went to a well funded public school in an affluent area of Sydney and there were very little behavioural problems in the school. Some of my friends that lived in a less affluent area had different experiences.

What the hell: Education in Germany is free, thats unbelievable, even universities degrees are publically funded .Germany is under the first 3 for the best education system. What's going in Australia ? School performance: Germany ranks on place 19 prior to Australia. I can't understand this. This just amplifys social inequality.

I think the reason public schools are not doing as good as private schools is because of work ethic. Private school students work more then public and some public school students don’t even study in year 12. So if you work hard you can get anywhere in life!!!

I think the main reason is price. Ppl value things more for the price.

      To an extent, yes.
Sometimes it is not on the students, though, many a teacher refuses to learn about what they are teaching and refuse to acknowledge the fact that learning does not end when you become a teacher.

How can an entire demographic just happen to share the same natural lack of work ethic?
From someone who has been to both public and private schools, I can say that is completely untrue.
Sure, public school kids have less work ethic if you want to include kids living in poverty without stability, confidence and who are more at risk of violence and drug use.
Putting that aside, the difference in the quality of education is obvious. This is the reason why people pay absorbent prices for this service. You're paying for the most expensive and qualified teachers (no teachers who want a quick paycheck and hate children), small classrooms and personal care, the best equipment and technology, the best sports facilities and most of all (imo) you're paying for your kids to not interact with people who are accustomed to poverty, drugs and violence.

@@Kalani_Saiko I totally agree. Some teachers are extremely unqualified. Private school kids tend to have better teachers, health care & home life. It makes it easier to care about school and your future and have more work ethic
