The matchmaking and international organization when it comes to zoo-animal breeding is fascinating. The way they train them for health checkups is very cool, too.

I have to admit I often get frustrated with these videos. There's often a lot of build up only to have it end. Did they mate? Who knows. They don't bother to wait long enough to actually answer the question!
They're clips from whole episodes of the series; I don't know where you can watch them. A few used to be on RUclips but the quality was poor. All of them are probably at least 10 years old, which means a lot of the animals seen in them are no longer around. Still, I've enjoyed every episode I've seen; the staff at this zoo are so dedicated to their animals and such characters, and I love their humour and their accents. I visited Chester once; beautiful old city that still has remnants of a Roman-built wall around it; it's about as north as north England can be.
@@KathyPrendergast-cu5ci What you are talking about is Zoo Days, and you are right there, I believe it dates back to 2007/8, but this clip is from Secret Life of the Zoo, shown in 10 series on Channel 4 from 2016 to about 2021, and Napo is still to be found at Chester Zoo as of September 2023, however Goshi sadly died last March.
Panthera/ Panthers is a genus within the family Felidae that was named and described by Lorenz Oken in 1816 who placed all the spotted cats in this group. Reginald Innes Pocock revised the classification of this genus in 1916 as comprising the tiger, lion, jaguar, and leopard on the basis of common cranial features
Leopards are sometimes born melanistic too, and also called "panthers". To add to the confusion, cougars aka mountain lions are called "panthers" in some parts of the United States. They are never born black; melanism is something that occurs only in spotted cats.
No. They never bred and then Goshi (the female black jaguar) passed away during the night in March of 2022. It was stated they would do a post-mortem but I cannot find the results.
Why would u stop them from breeding us humans are rich animals like these are getting rare in the wild breeding them to make sure they don't die out not stopping them
Animals like jaguars can't just be released into the wild when they're captive-bred; they'd be too dangerous as they'd have lost their natural fear of humans. And they wouldn't know how to hunt anyway, as jaguar cubs learn that from their mothers. So they'd starve. That's why in some ways this "Species Survival Plan" as justification for breeding endangered species in captivity is kind of BS., because people still haven't figured out how to safely re-introduce a dangerous predator species into the wild, if wild extinction actually happened.
Unfortunately there just isn't enough wild space for them. There's barely enough space for the ones already living wild. Maybe one day that will change, but until then zoos can at least maintain a stable captive population and stop the species from going extinct.
The world isn't America. I know yanks have a very hard time coming to terms with that fact. People have different accents and *gasp* sometimes even speak different languages.
Panthers not a real thing? They are the same as pumas and cougars lol these are not experts. Are they in charge of the cats? Its gloryfied tigerking WTF
Pathera were their big family names for tiger, leopard, jaguar, lion and snow leopard. It's for the big sizes cat, while medium and small cat are felis. If jaguar is panther, then tiger and lion also panther. They got their own name, so stick with it . It's like calling all human and human not their given names
Panthers are melanated leopards or jaguars, it's not the name of a specific species or subspecies. Pumas and cougars are an entirely different genus, so I'm guessing you're not much of an expert either? Unlike the US, the UK has very stringent laws around keeping wild animals and those keepers will be very, very well qualified.
Pumas, mountain lions, cougars and panthers are the name given to the medium-sized cat which is found in North America, i think you are getting confused with the Florida panther which goes by this name. Black panther, however, is the generic term given to black leopards and black jaguars.

Such gorgeous markings on both. Magnificent but scary creatures.
I learn something new every day , their babies would be absolutely beautiful :) Zoe , Canada
I hope they have a litter of cubs. Prayers for a safe and healthy conception.
Sadly goshi passed away in March 2022 and unfortunately Napo has been confirmed as infertile
Spoiler alert: They never reproduced and sadly, Goshi died this past march.
Recently, Napo is paired with Inka, a black jaguar from the Big Cat Sanctuary

That male has to be about 210
So, panthers are just jaguars with the n word pass.

I think it's because new cubs wouldn't have a place to go. But now that they have, the parents can now make babies.

You could try putting some back into the wild whete they belong, instead of making piles of badly earned money
