Thank you so much for the concise information. After calming down and watching this video again, I added several drugs and ran the comparison on a few plans so it makes more sense now. Since I'm not taking any prescriptions now, I'll probably choose a low premium Part D
@@CapeCodBelle it has been , but many things are changing; changes from the Federal government because they have seen that Medicare Advantage companies have too large profits and that is why so many new MA plans have popped up each year. VERY Important: NON-formulary drugs will not be covered after the $2,000 out-of-pocket cap in 2025 for Medicare Part D plans; the cap only applies to drugs listed on your plan's formulary, meaning you will still have to pay the full cost of any non-formulary medications even after reaching the cap.

SO where are all the better cheaper plans that the Republicans were promising for many years and offered nothing! It is a complex mess that no one can easily improve. Look into this topic further. The republicans want to completely get rid of your Medicare. Beware. Look it up in their Project 2025. Im 69,have medicare a and b,is it mandatory to have part d?With out a penalty?
Seniors are brilliant and come from and Era when life was simple. Go to the Dr. get seen ,get meds . Go home.
Now. Geez Everything is A.I. and skyrocketing prices on meds. Inflation.
So ironic this doubling of Part D plans is part of the Inflation Reduction Act. Typical fed govt program😂
Right?!
We can thank Biden and the democrats.
Medicare is the failed program. It rewards those who do nothing to stay healthy while those who are conscientious pay for our obese population. It should be paid based on your metabolic health to make sense.
@@chloesbigadventure Gotta pay for those tax cuts TRUMP gave to the ultra wealthy!
I think it’s because of Medicare ATVANTAGE plan, private payer is government.
Stick with ORIGINAL Medicare😀
I’m 70, take no prescription drugs,pay $173.00 per month for part D. ?
Are you sure that’s not your Part B premium? It’s $174.70/month in 2024.
you picked a wrong plan.
I'm turning 65 soon but my husband is quite a bit younger than I am and we will have medical insurance through his company so why pay for prescription insurance?
You can delay it without penalty as long as it’s creditable!
@@AbtInsuranceAgency Do I have to let them know or just go with the A & B because it automatic since I'm already receiving social security?
Question regarding the $2000 cap. If I’m prescribed a drug that is not on my Part D plan formulary and I pay full price for the medication at the pharmacy does that count towards my $2000 cap?
Probably not. After Oct.15th go to the Medicare page and look for a plan that does cover your drugs and change plans.
No unfortunately it does not.
This week the San Angelo, Texas City Council learned that the United Healthcare Medicare Supplement premiums for their retirees were going to increase 62% for 2025 because of the Inflation Reduction Act.
I am on original Medicare part D but I use no drugs and have not for most of my life. Even the cheapest coverage is close to $500/yr for no benefit for me at all. Can I opt out of part D?
Yes, but if you ever go to enroll in a Part D plan again in the futures, penalties may be applied.
Is the deductible included in the $2000 annual cap? (Thank you)
Yes!
The pictures on the wall are hanging so symmetrically
Ha, thanks!
I recieve my meds from VA....why do I need this plan? I'm 61 now and planning on moving to a developing country on receipt of my first social security deposit. About half of my ss payment will go to the monthly payment. Where is the advantage to successfully retire in this country.
Omgosh I'm worn out from checking formularies and tiers. Looks like every drug on TV is either a 4 or 5. No wonder they keep making new ones. I think I'll just take aspirin and gummies 🤣
Thank you so much for the concise information. After calming down and watching this video again, I added several drugs and ran the comparison on a few plans so it makes more sense now. Since I'm not taking any prescriptions now, I'll probably choose a low premium Part D
Is this going to be the same for Medicare Advantage plans?
Yes!
many advantage plans are making the drug part totally separate as it is for everyone else
@@merylgorge636 I thought that was one of the advantages of Medicare Advantage plans. I definitely need to learn more!
@@CapeCodBelle it has been , but many things are changing; changes from the Federal government because they have seen that Medicare Advantage companies have too large profits and that is why so many new MA plans have popped up each year. Who knows what will happen but everyone has to carefully examine their current plan as of Oct 15 and determine what will be best for them.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Part D sucks. . I can no longer afford my prescriptions for diabetes and heart related medications. I'll be taking some every other day or not at all. I'm convinced they want seniors to die.
Wellpoint has a Awesome Health Plan for 2025
In 2023 i was paying $10.90/month. In 2024 it went up to $31/month. Im afraid what 2025 will be. Have Aetna and live in NY. I take no meds. Still have to work just to pay for insurance. Sickening!
So very sorry! My 70 yr old husband is going yo have to ho back to work at least part time to afford all the insurance we pay both supplement & part d and part b! It's freaking outreageous! They have to pay for all the illegals Healthcare now don't they? Screw the seniors! I AM SO livid
@nanciwheatley-durando9342 I am 70 yrs old too.
I am also 72 and still working to pay for insurance. Maybe the homeless have the best idea, kidding. The real DONUT HOLE is - I make too much to qualify for help - and to little to afford stopping work to afford living in this country. I am getting so frustrated and depressed thinking about what lies ahead for all of us. I have worked as an RN for almost 50 years, struggled through COVID-19 - for what. Just to struggle more....
I am almost 65, and having to work FT just to afford all the costs for Medicare coverage. Ridiculous.
Update from previous post. Plan N went to a whopping $66 a month for Aetna. I switched plans as of Jan 1, 2025. I chose Wellcare which will cost me $34.80 a month.
For sure it would be an abomination, totally unAmerican, and too close to every other civilized country in the world to have every citizen’s healthcare and drugs taken care of by everyone in the society. How horrible. After all it is your fault if you are not perfectly healthy and if you ever get sick. Also 100% your fault if you are not a multi-billionaire who can pay for any needed expense, including your healthcare. So there!!
Good evening from Connecticut my wife and I have Omaha insurance and they sent us a letter saying that they no longer cover us .now do you have any other part d insurance that my wife and I can go with thank you
My mom also received a letter from Mutual of Omaha saying they are not offering this Part D. Wondering the same thing. She has BCBS, and United Health care. Will they offer this?
I have Humana and I only take I med for BP just got A update for 25 going from 99 to 125. Every year you need to go to the Medicare site, Sign in and check prices and, if necessary, select a new plan. What you have been paying and are going to be charged is ridiculous. You can do much better even with these changes. Open enrollment starts Oct. 15. If your friend is paying Zero for medicare he is on an Advantage plan or receiving some sort of subsidy. .

Humans sucks. Many focus on our area do not take this ins
A relative of mine on Medicare just recieved a notice that her part D was going from $5.00/Month to $40.00/Month for her same coverage, what happened?
See the info in this video -- that's what happened sadly.
I am still on my employer plan ,does the 2000.00 deductible for Part D impact what is considered a creditable employer plan?
The deductible on a Part D plan maxes out at $590. Then your Max out of pocket is $2000.
I'm in the same boat. I've read that some employee plans may no longer be creditable because the deductibles and spending caps may be all inclusive. Many HR people aren't knowledgeable enough to help, either. Waiting to see if I need to buy a plan to prevent penalties.
I currently don't have any daily medications either.
It very well may. Please look out for notice from your employer - they MUST let you know by Oct 15 if your employer coverage is not creditable for Part D for 2025.

Try as I might I can never get my head around the concept of the "donut hole". Seems just about any other type of insurance plan pays *more* after the deductible is met. Yet in this case, the insured person pays more. Sheesh! Luckily I have no personal experience with it. Keeping my fingers crossed that I never will!
The insurance company does pay more in the donut hole (~75% of costs) and even more in the catastrophic phase (~95%). The real problem is that drug costs are crazy high in the US. Guess who is responsible for that?
The reason SSA is like IRS to keep the elderly from being able to figure out all rules/regulations is to keep them from Alzheimer to "HELP" you to exercise your brain. It is like two electric shock. One in April and one in November to keep your brain healthy. LOL
Uhc disadvantage plan cut out all dental coverage for 2025

All you people whining about this increase are just one medical emergency from joining the “freeloader” crowd. Afib will affect 1 in 4 adults in this country, I know as I became one of them two years ago. I was & still am in better shape than most 25yo in this country. Right,I got one also from them.
Yes, I just read that today, while browsing the Part D plans. Sad.
Did speaker really think this was clear concise information, or does she just enjoy the sound of her voice and waving hands side to side. Not particularly helpful beyond warning of much higher out of pocket costs. Hold these drug companies feet to the fire and they kick back, right in seniors, asses.

SO where are all the better cheaper plans that the Republicans were promising for many years and offered nothing! It is a complex mess that no one can easily improve. Start with the relatively high salaries...how many do you think would be willing to take a big wage cut. The drugs are just one part of the problem.

AS USUAL - the many that don't take RX drugs are paying for the few (2%) of seniors that are on expensive RX drugs. Thanks Dems for sneaking this law through - as usual. Look into this topic further. The republicans want to completely get rid of your Medicare. Beware. Look it up in their Project 2025. They want everyone to go to Medicare Advantage plans, the private insurance companies when your coverage can then be denied, denied, denied. Lots of money to be had for their shareholders and CEOs.
Thank you for your stupid comment.
But if you're on government assistance its all free so we pay twice pathetic
I get so confused with all this stuff. Six years ago when I signed up Medicare I don't recall a plan G option. There were options but I don't remember specific names. I was "guided" to and chose plan D. So was I a sucker? Is plan D even a smart choice today?
