What about the I interpretation of St Cyprian in his Letters (number 63) where he the water represents the people and the wine the blood of Christ? He writes that "when the water is mixed with the wine, it is the people that unite with Christ" in a union that is "inseparable." I find this is the interpretation of the gesture that most resonates with people.
Rhe local priest definitely is a morning person. He slowly pours wine and quickly stops. Then he pours water and it seems more than wine. But they deny it to the laity. So I o ly get half communion anyway. But still better than those protestant churches we have here in town. No solid ones.

Thank you, that was very well explained.
