Go ahead and spend the money on a gore-tex suit. It doesn't rely on any sort of coating so there is nothing to get old or break down. Get bibs and a jacket and enjoy the dryness.
my man keeping it real. one of a kind! TY! i just bought the simms g3 jacket and looking for pant waders and boots , so thankyou for the video and insight. I agree, don't skimp. I canoe and portage backcountry fishing trips into the rugged Ontario wilderness where the elements can become dangerous. even if it isn't life or death you want to be comfortable...its good for morale which can make all the difference in the world . dont skimp!
H2O Xpress from Academy. Had my set for years I’ve never been wet and always warm. I got a new set because I gave my old one to my kid to winter fish with me.
some subscribers are leaving but some are coming. it was ur stance on the state of fishing that kept me here and subscribed and you are the only person i listen to. "The fish deserve our respect" you did a video on and was what won me over. They are leaving because you are hurting their ego when we say the cheat box is illegitimate. and as far as im concern you are being nice about it. I would strait up call these guys an embarrassment to the sport and i could go on but wont. I would strait up quit fishing before i ever use that thing. Where is the honor and pride and respect for your opponent in that type of fishing. Well i say they fish for their bloated ego's and tiny balls and yes them fighting words!
If your current gear is goretex it might simply be in need of a wash and dry using a cleaning/rejuvenating product designed just for raingear. Also, most camping gear retailers sell a glue-like product I think is called seam sealer. These two things have cured my rain gear leaks, but any will leak some in driving rain if it's breathable.
I've battled Mother Nature for years as a landscaper. My biggest problem is sweating because of materials. I've found Columbia has great rain gear. The jacket also has an underarm zipper for quick heat release. It stays packed tight and ready to go. It's also what I fish in.
In Florida’s rainy season you are either going to be wet from rain or sweat. I just fish in my speedo when it rains and get appropriately dressed once it quits. 🥴. On the plus side other boats tend to avoid me. Seriously, a higher end Frogg Toggs has worked well for me
You need 2 sets . . . 1 for when it's actually 'raining' for hours, (Grundens style) . . . and another for 'On and off showers', with Gore-tex like Simms . . . can't have your cake and eat it too.
I’ve had mine forever! Keeps me warm& never leaks. Battle tested in weather @9 degrees. When I purchase this rain gear the rep told me to put it on, go in the shower, if it leaks send it back. I still have & continue to use this awesome product. That gear would be the the Cabelas guide wear..💯🥰🤙
RB perhaps consider a modular approach. For your bottoms, Look into Golf Rain Pants. U will get great performance and no bib straps to go bad and manage.
I've had the bass pro 100mph gear for 10+ years, and it's awesome in cold weather and dry. Since you're going through tackle warehouse, i would recommend Simms. My son ice fishes up north and swears by it. He said he won't buy another brand again.
the hood on rain gear is my most hated part i haven't found a set of rain gear that the hood wouldn't fit a 55 gal. drum. if i have to run in the rain i pull the hood down with my hands and put on my full face motorcycle helmet.
I have been very happy with the Kuiu Kutana rain gear. I think either the Kutana or Chugach series rain gear from Kuiu would work well for bass fishing from a boat.
Randy, in 2020, I won a Striker Adrenaline Rainsuit. Everything you mentioned as a concern is resolved by this rainsuit. I've used it now for four years and am still as happy with it today as I was when I got it. I see Matt Steffan has one of the Striker rainsuits he wears in his vudeos. Maybe you should give him a call?
I solve this problem the old fashioned way - I don't fish in bad weather ...I do have a pair of really nice Columbia rain gear but basically never use it. 8 got caught in a good old fashioned Florida afternoon thunderstorm once last year and the rain gear was a godsend but that was an aboration. I'm retired so I can fish anytime I want so I never bother when it's goin* t9 be bad weather ...
I am looking also to replace my rain gear, I clean pools and we do clean even in heavy rain and my Walmart Frogg Toggs basically allow the water to soak through. I just can’t justify a +$300 rain suit.
I have had 100mph from bass pro it was great for 3 or 4 years but now you might as well have nothing this gear cost 500.00 and I was hoping it would last but no so if you find something please let me know I’m ready to purchase some new rain gear but I want something that works for at least 10 years

Aftco is strait up the best. Period. I have the barricade suit. All their stuff is top tier
Simms ProDry are the best I’ve had.

I use Gill exclusively for many years and love them.

Sounds to me Randy that you want the rain suit equivalent of a rod that you can use for 1/4 oz. baits up to 10 inch swimbaits :-)

Buck n Bass is the best!
Unequivocally!

Simms Pro Dry is my favorite. Alternatively try, Aftco , NRS , Gill.
I am looking also to replace my rain gear, I clean pools and we do clean even in heavy rain and my Walmart Frogg Toggs basically allow the water to soak through. I just can’t justify a +$300 rain suit.
The Stryker series is a good choice. Bassgeek likes them and they have bibs too
Aftco rain gear, I never get wet or cold. Best I ever owned.
For GORTEX put the drier on high heat. This helps a lot
Randy what waterproof footwear would you recommend? Thanks.
Get Patagonia rain gear, it isn’t cheap, but it’s the best I’ve used and they have a great warranty
Camp dry spray will get you more time out of a rain suit
Buck n bass ✌️
Absolutely!
Randy get some Stryker rain gear.I like mine Very dry and warm.
I see most bassers in simms I wish I could afford to get them
Rapala makes a good bib and jacket
Stryker... i like em alot
Still looking for the perfect rain gear. Most last about a year. Can't see spending $200 plus every year.
Gill is awesome
I have had 100mph from bass pro it was great for 3 or 4 years but now you might as well have nothing this gear cost 500.00 and I was hoping it would last but no so if you find something please let me know I’m ready to purchase some new rain gear but I want something that works for at least 10 years
I’ve had my 100mph for 20 yr on prob. Granted don’t use 7 days a week. Every time it gets damp make sure to hang dry
I've had this same gear. Bibs and jacket, and I have never had an issue with it. It's very good quality and really warm.
There is a product you wash rain gear with that restores them to like new, under $10
simms.
aftco
