I was listening to this in the car, because I wanted my family to hear this greatness, and my mom asked “is he in love with chad or something?” you don’t understand how hard I laughed.
I love how Professor Hidgens gave almost every character a really generic American name like ‘Steve’ and ‘Chad’ but then he just throws fucking ‘Leighton’ into the middle.
His mistake at 5:06 and his recovery was genius. He was supposed to say "The world will come tumbling down. Hamilton move over, your new competition's in town." and instead he mistakenly says his line from the first verse (No exits from this Broadway venue.) but quickly recovers and modifies the second verse to "Hamilton move over, got a show stopping hymnal for you." for it to rhyme. Robert thankfully nailed it. Better handled than Joey's "Ho ho ho Ha!" incident. 🤣
I think my worst moment with a bad recovery was 1776. Was at the edge of the stage facing away and couldn't see the conductor. I came in when I usually do on the chorus part (after the break in the middle of Cool Conservative Men) and they vamped an extra measure. I just held the note till the chorus caught up then cut off with them. So instead of to the right, ever to the right. To the riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, ever to the right. Still not sure how I managed that in the moment, and I wish I had a tape of it because I'm sure in spite of the cover my eyes were in fully wide "Oh Sh..." mode.
I honestly think the line “no exits from this broadway venue “ is better , honestly- maybe personal preference idk it just scratches my brain eiqhsjwhjw
"we've gotta get out of here while they're distracted" "oh my god, should i take the chair?!?" "YES" "i'll grab the piano" this one of the funniest interactions in the whole show. i crack up every time
Some people may think this is just a song to illustrate Professor Hidgen's sudden minor antagonist arc, but really this is an autobiographical performance to represent Jeff Blim's creative process when writing this musical and song.

As great as Robert's performance is and how seamlessly he recovered from the messed-up lyric, the main reason I loved this was because we got more of Joey's amazing facial expressions.
"theyll throw us their money at full price admission, no exits from this Broadway venue" that caught me off guard, I nearly screamed the other lyric before realising-
