But failing in the group stage of the CL while not scoring in the matches that counted, combined with the fact that the Premier League wasn't close to the best League in the world probably sealed the deal for Nedved, who was crucial for Juventus in the serie A title race and the best field player of that CL season. Personally, I would have given that years Ballon d'or to Buffon though
