Agnes Caroline Thaarup Obel is a Danish singer, songwriter, and musician based in Berlin. Her debut album, Philharmonics, was released by PIAS Recordings, and was certified gold in June 2011 by the Belgian Entertainment Association after selling 10,000 units.
The riverside is by the river Spree in Berlin, where Agnes Obel wrote the Philharmonics album. She came up with a melodic section that sounded like water, and formed this song around it. Agnes has said this about the song: "I wanted to write a song about how people can be transformed, and sometimes how when you meet other people who have been through this strange transformation, you can tell. It was a time in my life when I was changing a lot myself, and I wanted to describe that, using water as a border between one world and another." Obel emerging from the river represents a transformation.
Very beautiful singing so lovely thanku beautiful request always a fabulous reaction thanku both loads much love an God bless always from Cyprus x x x x
when her album aventine was released, i bought it just because i liked the cover so much. and it was by far no disappointment. i love her well composed and layered music. too sad that they have taken her concert live at the philarmonie de paris off youtube. one of the best concerts i have witnessed
I am the water that drips, I am the matter of the day, I am the stone that sticks, i am the sky that displays, I will be the Ocean waving, I will be the Aquarian tide, I will be the earth bracing, I will be echo in your stride. #QcumberSquad #AngesObel - Fil, I'm off back to the study.
