I agree that staying at a temple is good way for a foreign visitor to have an interesting and ‘authentic’ Japanese experience. (I did this many years ago when I was first living in Japan.) And definitely, staying at a ryokan is great as well, although personally I recommend staying at a ‘minshuku’ (guest house) instead. They tend to be a bit smaller and shabbier, but you can really feel the character of the family running them, and they are cheaper in spite having equally fantastic food.
This was very nice. You are really good at freestyling your presentation. It was very smooth and you spoke very clearly. It was great listening practice and the Japanese subtitles added good reading practice (but to be honest, it was really hard to keep from reading the English). Thank you!
Excellent video. I love the new format. It is good to experience the flow and rhythm of the language. Thank you Miku. It's always great to hear you talking.
I loved this video. I really wanted to know what i can do in Japan, and i learned a lot of words and some grammars. I would like so much if you make more videos like this!
Seems like you have been doing quite a bit of traveling this year! Glad to see you are feeling better. The scenery around the shrines, and nature are truly a wonder to see
Thank you for sharing Miku sensei. I really really enjoy watching and learning from your videos. Just recently moved here, and watching every night your grammar videos helped me to communicate with others.
Arigatou gozaimas as always for helping us discover your amazing country a bit ore each time. Staying in a temple in Koyasan in winter was defo a highlight of my last Japan trip!
I last visited Japan (Fukuoka) in the fall of 2010, and I've been aching to return. Nothing helped my Japanese ability as much as using it to get around there. I hope they lift the restrictions on self-directed tourism soon, because I'd really love to take my two sisters next time and show them around.
thank you miku sensei!!! this was a lovely and helpful video, all your videos and your podcast are super helpful and I really appreciate your content, it has helped my japanese improve a lot 😊
Very interesting....as most of your videos are... I just like listening to your japanese, and your voice as well, and immerse as much I can. In my experience it is most efficiently, when the content sounds interesting to me. Of course I am interested in more videos about japanese culture, the beautyful places you are visiting, japanese food you are enjoying, and also I like listening whats going on in your mind... Keep going, miku San sensei.
おもしろい!I really liked this video, mostly because there were whole sentenced I understood 😂 it was just the right level and speed for me. I might watch it again without subtitles to test myself. Would love more videos like this, as I think if I found a Japanese blogger doing similar videos the grammar and vocabulary might be too advanced for and the speed too quick.
I’ve just started learning Japanese and missed the opportunity to start real classes until I start high school next year. These videos are very helpful since I can’t listen to anyone talk in person. Thank you so much for making these videos!
First priority when I get back to Japan is to make sure I have some money on my Suica, hit Lawson or Family Mart to get an onigiri, karage and a yuzu soda. Can’t wait to do some weekend trips to Shimoda as well.
Lol how similar, every time we return to Tokyo it's onigiri and sando from Famima, the square bottle yuzu drink from 7-11 (or the hot or cold yuzu tea from Staba), shio ramen + karaage in our favorite ramenya, and a suica top up of course 😁👌
Hi Sensei, if you are in Tokyo, I highly recommend visiting "Mother Farm" in Chiba. A lot of people will never expect to find such a BIG and interesting farm just an hour drive away from Tokyo. Not only are there a lot of different kind of animals and performances, there are also amusement park where the kids can have fun. You can also bring your dog along and I am sure they will enjoy the open space! It is also a good place to test your Japanese level because all the animal shows are in Japanese.
Thanks for the list Miku-San. Any thoughts on Pachinko? Probably not the same as the Game Centers you were talking about, but wanted to hear your take✌️
Your videos are a great help to improving my Japanese. I'm looking forward to practicing once the border reopens in the next few months. BYTW: If you're invited, some of the non-touristed Zen temple "vacation" type stays can be quite the experience.
I've been to Japan 7 times so far. I climbed Mt Fuji twice. This Summer (2022) I wanted to come back but individual tourists are still not allowed in the country :(
I will be a Japanese Language student on October at Japan, do you have vlogs at Kanagawa Prefecture? My school is located there... arigatou miku sensei...
Just a note for those who might need to know this. Shojin Ryori is NOT VEGAN despite what most Japanese people seem to think and say. The practitioners in question are very loose in what they will and will not include in "temple cuisine". It will more often than not have some fish in it. Do NOT assume it's vegan, or even vegetarian for that matter. Always check, ask, request, etc... You'd be amazed how many tourists come here and make blogs and vlogs about all the vegan things they ate which just aren't. Many others will just follow what they've told by those people.
Free talk is very nice. In my opinion best things to do in Japan are: make a lot of friends, eat a lot of ramen, go fishing, go hiking in the nature, onsen, ryokan, Matsuri, pray in Tera and Jinja, win the lottery and move to Japan, become rich and live in Japan without working.
For now, there is no need to worry about all of this since the borders are still closed to individual tourists. Welcome to Sakoku 2.0, duration unknown.

Thank you Miku san, this sort of videos help a lot when I practice shadowing

Thank you for all the good advices !

we don't have karaoke but you can buy it and do it in your house 😅
I'm asian btw
I would like to see a football match at Saitama Stadium and a baseball match at Koushien
