Somaliland: Joss meets with the charity, HALO Trust

- Last year in Somaliland, we were shown around a very important charity that quite literally saves lives and restores the livelihoods of those affected by conflict. They do an extraordinary job in clearing landmines and the explosive debris of war so families, communities and countries can recover. It was inspiring to witness and get involved in their careful but dangerous work. Watch our video when we visited HALO Trust. The staff here are a great bunch and are so committed to the work they do, it was really insightful to know what goes on behind the scenes and all the hard work that this charity does to help create safe and secure environments in war-torn countries. This is a travesty for these countries, my heart's go out to the workers of this charity that are hands on as well as the people afflicted physically, emotionally & mentally by this horror. I feel like there should be no excuse as to why this issue hasn't been eradicated but this mine issue is vast and my opinion is something that's easier said than done.

I remember this night I was at my friend's house, we were playing a video game while we just waiting for his mother to come back from a wedding she went so it kinda got late and I left his house to my house which was near it. Once I got to bed I heard this scream and I quickly came outside and it was this lady she was screaming the name of the friend I was with earlier. She was in tears. Few things came to my head like "Did he got killed" Did someone stab" and many other false thoughts. I was in shock! Then Suddenly he appears from no where while he was in tears. That's when I found out that something else was up! After Few minutes I found out that his mother died in bomb explosion on her way to home. This night still hunts me because also another friend who was staying with us that same night who was also a very close friend died in the Mediterranean sea. Very strange world we live in.

Somaliland is able to easily detect anything that poses a threat to their sovereignty because of their amazing intelligence agency. All I am saying is that more investments from foreign countries on somaliland intelligence agency is needed to further keep peace across somaliland. Somaliland is indeed an oasis of peace and democracy thanks to the amazing work done by members of somaliland intelligence agency.
