Grant, thanks for posting. I got my Class C limo license last week and used your video as a quick refresher. They don't hand out these licenses like candy anymore. You really have to be on your "A" game. Best of luck!
I remember doing this test in Canada to drive short buses for the school district up there. Theres goes by number of passengers so you could drive full size bus set up for wheel chairs on the same CDL
Sweet! I am glad I could help you pass the cdl test. When I had taken my cdl test there was no video like mine out there on Class C CDLs. I am happy my idea to make a video on it, has helped so many people out. Thanks for watching.
Hey you are so knowledgeable and easy for me to follow along. Thank you so very much. I will be watching this video many times and studying manual for my inspection test.
Congrats on Passing the test! Seems like they want you to be a mechanic by knowing all these things. I know it's a safety precaution but wow at times it seems excessive. Here in NJ, if you don't pass the Pre-Trip, you can't go to the next step which is the alley dock, parking, etc. Quick question for the brake test...does the instructor tell you to do the break test or you have to bring it up and do it? Thanks for the video, as you mentioned, most videos are for class A testing and with those trucks you have a better view inside the Engine compartment. Congrats again and thanks for the video.
+dmxruffryder54 My instructor said you have to bring up the break test on your own or you not allowed to continue past the pre-trip onto the drive and then the dock tests.
No probably not as passenger endorsement usually goes with class B. Unless you are driving a small short bus for that school. If the school wants to hire you, they'll usually let you borrow the equipment to get certified.
I am going to take my test tomorrow. Class c non cdl. Do you know if I have to complete a pretrip as well? I was told I just need to do a written and driving test.
Hazmat should just be an add on endorsement. I hope this video helps you with the main test for CDL C. If you test with a rental truck make sure you either use the biggest one or a van. The mid-sized one has a huge plastic engine cover and you can't see anything to point any of it out
This is the basic CDL you would have to have to run hazmat. But hazmat is an add on endorsement that you test for separately. Most of the time you refer to a class c cdl as a chauffeurs license cuz it's mostly used for hauling passengers on short busses with air brakes and passenger endorsement.
@@earthpart3 u memorize it but if u are going for just Class C CDL or chauffeurs license, just make sure u rent a uhual that does not have a bunch of covers over the engine so that u can see what u need to talk about. Ask uhual to show u the engines. Just think mainly "belts, tires, hoses" anything that moves or can develop a leak u need to point out . Good luck
Lol bringing a checklist would defeat the point if the test. So yes u have to try to memorize it. Just think "safety" and lights, tires, breaks, steering and how the engine runs. Point out anything that needs to move or can cause a leak
Class C is not about weight limit so much as saying that you know what mechanical breakdowns and safety hazards to look for. It's in the same class as a taxi license or shoffure's license. It more depends on the type of company that you are trying to drive for. When I took my test, I was applying to get into Expediting and some companies wanted you to have a commercial drivers license of any kind because it lowers what they (for cargo)and then you (for driving) have to pay for on commercial insurance. A year after I started expediting, since newer vans are much safer, expediting companies quit having a requirement of a commercial license per D.o.T. regulations and commercial insurance changes.
So now it just depends on your state. But if you are trying for class A (tractor trailer) or B (straight truck) my advise would be to try to get a pickup and trailer combo to pass General Class A drive test with, and then go back later and get air brakes, doubles/triples etc if your state will allow you to. This way you don't have to drive test with extra equipment like air brakes test.
Thank you I'm simply trying to get in to fed ex or maybe even local routes for food distributors or any distributor really they have 26 ft box trucks and claim you dont need a cdl but turns they need a class c or higher.start off don't have the funds to pay a Cdl school at the moment and i know they have free Cdl programs trough cr england and all this major trucking companies but i can leave that long due to personal reasons. Thanks again for your prompt response
Take either the snaller van ir the really big u haul tryck so that you can see everything you need to point out. The examiners dont care the type of vehicle you use as long as its close to what you expect to be using your class c for.
Martin Gonzalez I used a rental van from u haul to take my test. As far as class Cs as long as you use something close to what you will be driving for work to take the test, that is all that matters. If you want class A then you have to show up with tractor trailer or pickup trailer. Some type of combination vehicle.
mario segura it's been so long I don't remember but u think it was 16 or 17 things in the engine and 4 or 5 in the wheels and underside of the body. Just watch the video and sound really knowledgeable like you know what your doing. Good luck
4 years later, this inspection tutorial still works! Good Job bud and thanks
I'm glad it helped you. Thanks for watching!

I remember doing this test in Canada to drive short buses for the school district up there. Theres goes by number of passengers so you could drive full size bus set up for wheel chairs on the same CDL

Transmission test? To properly test the brakes, you need to pump it 3 times then hold for 5 seconds to make sure the brake pedal is ok
I wish some one can make another video but This was very helpful thanks
Hi, found this video very helpful! Do you think a U-Haul cargo van will work with a passenger endorsement? Working for a school
No probably not as passenger endorsement usually goes with class B. Unless you are driving a small short bus for that school. If the school wants to hire you, they'll usually let you borrow the equipment to get certified.
Thank you so much!
I am watching again. Ty
Glad you enjoyed my video on cdl driver's license and stay tune for other updates and new videos.

I'm at the DMV now
I am going to take my test tomorrow. Class c non cdl. Do you know if I have to complete a pretrip as well? I was told I just need to do a written and driving test.
Hey...thanks for making this video
I just need the Hazmat on my c class so I'm getting class c commercial with hazmat endorsement...do you think this video will help me, thanks?

Is this the test you do if your getting a "Hazmat endorsement ?? im a newly driver for an asbestos/lead/mold company drive a 14ft box truck
This is the basic CDL you would have to have to run hazmat. But hazmat is an add on endorsement that you test for separately. Most of the time you refer to a class c cdl as a chauffeurs license cuz it's mostly used for hauling passengers on short busses with air brakes and passenger endorsement.
Wow in illinoi nobody does a class for class c
Good luck!
How do you remember all this? I'm bound to fail

i did'nt even know there was a class c...lol
Can you take a uhaul van for the class c cdl? I'm going to be driving a box truck but the van looks easier to pass. Please help me out
Yes for a class C cdl you can use a uhaul van or truck.
Can you bring the checklist ? Or do you have to memorize all of this ?
Lol bringing a checklist would defeat the point if the test. So yes u have to try to memorize it. Just think "safety" and lights, tires, breaks, steering and how the engine runs. Point out anything that needs to move or can cause a leak
Thank you
Do you have to actually check the fluids or just tell them?
Reese M just tell them and point everything out
Can I have only knowledge and passenger endorsements? For class c
You just need the basic knowledge test. Passenger endorsement add later after you pass the driving test.
Can I use a 15 passenger van to get my passenger endorsement????
Depends on the state. In SD the instructor wants you to bring as close to the same vehicle as you will be using for the job to test with.
Do you need to do this if you just want class c license without any endorsement? I'm in illinois

Still can't find anyone to do my class c rv yet due to covid
In Montana the government offices are open
Does anyone know if you can take u haul van for road test if you have class c passenger permit?
Take either the snaller van ir the really big u haul tryck so that you can see everything you need to point out. The examiners dont care the type of vehicle you use as long as its close to what you expect to be using your class c for.
Does the van have to been a certain weight?
Martin Gonzalez I used a rental van from u haul to take my test. As far as class Cs as long as you use something close to what you will be driving for work to take the test, that is all that matters. Grant Travels Thanks for the good info!
