Good straightforward video. I just did my 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid. It had been stuttering pretty bad when starting from a stop, especially uphill, and now it's noticeably better. Not 100% cured, but for sure much better.
Just a note on your video, not trying to nit-pick but just what was different for me. First, for those of us without access to a lift, I found it most helpful to remove the drivers side front wheel as it allows much easier access to the drain bolt. Second, not sure where your underbody splash guard went, or if you removed it before the video, but mine was in place and I had to remove a couple of those plastic fasteners (that always break when you remove them) to gain access to the drain plug. I didn't want to remove all the plastic fasteners because I knew half of them would break and I had no replacements handy, so I just removed 2 and held back the plastic splash guard with a couple of bungeee cords.

My brother just got one of these for $600 literally, it was having slipping issues we check the fluid it was extremely black and smoking out the fill tube , so we put some ATV transmission fluid in it ( not knowing it was an CVT) and it starting driving , I mean they took it all around Vegas , the plan was to drive it to bull head and Do a flush there (because that’s where we live ..) the car stopped driving on him half way there because a hill , it’s not going in reverse or drive now and I don’t want to state the obvious . But is the trans gone ? Or does he still have hope with a fluid change? I had an 08 Chrysler van did the same exact thing but I changed the fluid the pan , gasket and filter as well as cleaned the magnet and topped it off with new fluid.. the car ran amazing I even drove it to la and back same day lol I thought that would be the case here, but I just learned it’s a cvt!! • @hondaresource

Thank you so much for your last super fast reply!
You seem very knowledgeable, so I hope you don't mind, but I have just a couple questions you might know.
We are on a tight budget and have two 2005 Civic Hybrids with both CVT transmissions having the "chatter on start" to move problem.
In looking around online it sounds like I might be able to substitute that filter with part number 25430-PLR-003.
I can get after market ones of them much cheaper.
I do know that the part is slightly different looking in that both sides of the 25430-PLR-003 have stems on them for rubber hoses with pinch on clamps and the one you replied with shows one end with a stem and the other side with a female threaded opening for the metal line.
I was thinking of getting the
25430-PLR-003 and buying à rubber line instead of the metal line, as I am a little worried that I might damage the metal line.
Also, it seems that the original filter has a bypass in case the filter gets too clogged up,
Do you happen to know if there is a bypass in replacement aftermarket
      filters?
My next question is do you think that replacing the filters and transmission fluid after burnishing the transmission clutch or belt 3 times if needed, will help more with changing the filters?
Do you know what CVT fluid type it takes and if it has to be OEM Honda fluid or will aftermarket fluid work?
Oh my God do I ramble.
LOL My wife say that I always do that. LOL
Anyway, you can answer all or any of the questions that you like. Thanks in advance.

    • @hondaresource
      @hondaresource  3 года назад +1

Honestly man, I'm not sure. I would assume that an aftermarket made for the hybrid would function as OEM. As far as the fluid goes, I only recommend OEM.

Yeah doing the brake torque burnishing the clutch thing I worry about either burning up or breaking the chain belt for the transmission.
Yeah both cars we have have the shutter upon starting out.
I do the brake torque burnishing type thing it works a tiny bit better, but only for a day maybe.
So hopefully burnishing changing the fluid and that filter will help.
The last time I changed the fluid I did not change the filter because I didn't know about it till now.
Anyway thanks again for everything maybe I'll off date you once I get it all changed see how it goes.
