Let me know what you think of it 😄
Just downloaded it, it’s pretty cute and the UI is agreeable to use so far :)
You should pin this
I have no idea how to play it I'm so lost
Couldn't you make the website into a PWA that could be published on the app stores?
Do you use expo-cli or react native cli
"The motivation for this project came from depression" felt that.
"This time not related to AngularJS"
Also felt that
boring fane
It came from love because he got in love with Lenda
I really liked how his hair grew in a blink at 0:28. Web Game… Poof!
I'm just happy he hasn't dropped this project yet 🥺
Ben, if you read this, feel free to upload more, we love you bro
yes please 🥺 🙏 I miss the top echelon sarcasm
Love you too Neetcode !!
Man I love ya both, y'all are top-tier content creators. RUclips goals right here
Wow. NeetCode is here as well. We love both of you. Keep doing what you are doing.
man you know it is good when neetcode comments on your video, both of you are legends, we love your contents keep it up both of ya
"Developers want mobile websites. Consumers want apps." - Absolutely love this quote!
I hate it. Consumers are stupid. Apps suck.
@@WyzrdCat as I consumer and developer, I disagree. I love apps and hate mobile websites (looking at you StackOverflow).
@@WyzrdCat imagine separate app for everything yuck
@@herohera3497 ikr
@@WyzrdCat yea. you only need 1 app. the browser! lol
im so into voidpet honestly. i apreciate your hardwork on the project. thank you
Well done for sticking it through this time.. the nice thing about getting started is you can always pivot off into something else and still be ahead as opposed to not having started anything at all.
It's great to see how far you've gone since running into you learning FeathersJS. Time flies.
Loved that bit of "Gamers love desktop things" ASMR
It's a shame there aren't more channels who do this kind of content. Might jump on it as well.
Ben didn't start like this, doing this at scale requires you to have an audience already, there are multiple youtubers creating content Ben created long ago just so that they can grow and possibly at a later point in time, build things like this
also what are your thoughts on straight away doing builder logs and not doing any tutorials?
@@soulninjadev I see it as being similar to how people make devlogs on their own video games. Take ThinMatrix, Pontypants or Dani as an example, they never really did any tutorials (though ThinMatrix did a few years ago), yet I consider them a success. I don't think the reason for a channel's growth is their audience before their first devlog like videos, but mainly because of the quality of their videos, their personality, their target audience and what they offer to their target audience (throw the video title and thumbnail in it as well).
I've been a viewer of Ben for maybe about 2 years now, on different accounts. Ben's got a great personality and the way he makes his videos I find it entertaining :D
@@soulninjadev To answer your question from my perspective:
I am a developer, I love videos from Ben, Joma, ThinMatrix, CodeBullet, and other devs. For me a tutorial is not really interesting, unless I want/need to learn a specific tech right now. But builder/dev logs and general project related videos are interesting and can spark new ideas for your own or show your other perspectives to boost your innovations.
So if @Volzey would start an interesting project with a devlog, I would probably watch it. But if he would do tutorials, I wouldn't be his target audience.
The two kind of videos are different.. yeah, kinds. So you will attract different kinds of people.
Btw I would assume that a tutorial channel has less potential to build a strong community. But that is just my guess :)
@@volzey gotcha, thanks for the perspectives; was thinking of making devlogs but didn't know if it would find an audience, looks like it would!
@@TheMordano thanks for your thoughts too!
Congrats on the release! As someone who learned a ton about JavaScript backend development from you, I'll be downloading the Android app for sure and show my support.
Congrats on the launch Ben!! 🎉
That app feels amazing, such great animations, consistent and beautiful art/ui style and seems really responsive.
I havent downloaded it yet but it would be 100x better if you had the newest iphone with the island shit your void pet out chill on the island on the home screen
The app is good for gen z as well, a lot of us don't use desktops
I do hope you eventually get full feature parity and crossplay between the web and mobile version tho ☺️ bring everyone together that way!
Bruh. You have been my inspiration on starting to make videos. I'm so happy every time you upload new videos. please keep us posted :). this game looks great.
This is beautiful man omfg y'all made something fucking beautiful
"react native is a beautiful piece of technology if you close your eyes"
and don't use any third party packages because they keep changing their apis every 5 seconds
or sleep
@@thatsalot3577 they just assume no human is able to update react native version LOL
Honestly, if I were to use a cross platform framework, I'd choose Flutter, but I understand why Ben chose RN.
Love your content and ambition, keep up the great energy!!
Great video! Keep up the important work you are doing. You could be a pioneer in a new type of video (at least to me) of developers describing their progress!
“If you close your eyes” omfg
f150 jets when f22 pickup trucks show up
Can you please drop a video on how you created the Voidpet Application using React Native especially how you were able to achieve the UI. The UI looks really awesome
Just downloaded it and congratulations on making it to mobile app store. Hopefully in the future y'all left people who don't use discord save progress to email or Google account . I can't wait to see future updates and thing y'all add to the game at some point
I hope this app does truly become a unicorn, Ben deserves this and much more
Can't wait to check this out..this is so inspiring!!! Thank you!
congrats on the launch Ben and Linda!!! :)
Good call. I'm a dev who uses a computer all day, and much prefer to casually game on my phone, and much more likely to interact with it much more often.
after randomly clicking your channel for the first time in a month you uploaded a video a few minutes ago 👁️
0:28 sudden growth of hair in seconds
love the design style, congrats
This is amazing, just downloaded the game and it seems great!
Man, do I hate Java Swing. I made some cool things in college with it, but you're 100% right about the UI.
just downloaded the game. its very calming and lovely :)
Just found this game and I love it already
You should add greatfull as a lemon like the saying if life gives you lemons throw it back and ask for chocolate that should be the first stage then it learns to appreciate the little things like lemons and flowers and bees
app switch is a great move dude
That's a cool project :) I also want to build a React Native small game, so it is quite inspiring to see your progress
6:48 It is not your Japanese is bad, it is more that if you don't know how Japanese cuts words into really specific syllables (the set you see in hiragana & katakana), you miss pronounce the word ;) Here, it's Ne / ko A / tsu / me, and not Ne / ko At / su / me because the "-at" syllable doesn't exist.
This just amazing, really
The cuddle feature really is so fucking cute
im downloading this now, keep documenting!
App runs very smooooth, good job!
Nick Gur 🤓
Amazing design, hope it works out!
Oh, that's just wonderful!
gonna shill this in the 2 weeks of school I've remaining 😩
Admire your ability to iterate so quickly
I'm lovin the Karen Mullet look.
He is turning white with time like a vampire
I'm gonna need some advice on your ci/cd strategy with RN. I think ppl would really appreciate these kind of tech content 🤗
Kudos. Growth.
I really enjoyed it!
Swing isn't a bad UI toolkit! (I contribute to the Java desktop library.)
As a person who had around 5 hours of playtime and then churned - for me it was lacking depth. I came with some signs of depression and wanted something to poke that feeling, and while petsvisuals are close to it, the game (and gameplay) is not really. I expected something that will bring my inner feelings out, but faced one more training game. Where for some reason I have to grow my negative emotions stronger, and while I see traces of "learn to live with it", it's mostly tucked away behind fighting and evolution. Need more "art" in metaphorical sense
Oh this game is actually super cute
I love this Ben
Legitimate question: how do you keep yourself afloat without a day job? Or do you have some sort of income elsewhere while pursuing your projects and content creating?
Big fan Ben, go out and get some photons though dude
I plan to make a web game and I am massively drawn towards desktop only, as a former hardcore gamer myself. I can't stand mobile gaming. I want people to have the full visual and control experience of a desktop. It is a magnum opus project on a big backburner but I will have to consider this issue deeply.
Ben, I don' think I've ever said this, but this app is a banger
You said you're making 3k a month, may I ask how are you getting that? Did you receive investment for Voidpet, monetize it, or you're taking part-time contracts?
I'm just guessing that came form all the users giving him money, when you have a big youtube channel its easier to start projects like this because you already have the audience, you just need to sell a product
Probably just from 600 people buying the $5/month subscription
what is an f150 jet?
Great game bro'! Congrats!
Keep it up!
🤘
Going to give you honest critic as I am not a die hard supporter and I create games: Tutorial is information overload, especially in times where attention span is too short, and after reading all that information where a lot is actually just useless and you forget, you “explore” the rest of the app but there is literally nothing else to do, but to water trees, then once you’ve done that what then?. Best is to make new players feel like they are intuitively playing the game without a tutorial. After all that you’re just staring at the grass in front of you and leave the app.
"if you close your eyes"
Congrats!!!! 🎉
Keep going!
i play it for fun, it would be cool if it was on pc too
Title is ambiguous this is game development story totally different than CRUD
Are you trying to become the same shade of colour as your wall?
Next episode : After 10 months of building App, I switched to Desktop App
i wonder if it was reasonable or possible to port the web to an app using a PWA. ofcourse you will need to have a good ui library so it feels native
It’s lovely! Would you add translations? I know a bunch of people that need this app but don’t know English
return of the king
hey tell us about the non technical aspect of pushing your ideas forward in the real world.
Programming languages used for the app?
''the idea is to have kids as familiar with the words 'anxious' and 'lonely' as they are with squirtle or charmander''
... I doubt many kids need a video game to get them there lol
Finally 2bio project rebooting
I failed my Java black jack assignment so I feel ur pain
here we go again...
This is awesome
Ben's such a cutie patootie🥰🥰
Benjamin moment
Where is the competition? Where is the social?
Will check out the app😁
Let's gooo 🔥🔥
Although you need an app to reach the target market you still did it the right way... Web first gets you to MVP faster and lets you iterate with a beta community.
Only when you know it has potential should you ever put the time into app development.
One day though PWA's on all the app stores will be seamless, one day
6:49 ha 😳
where is your tie ??
@bawad, why did you choose react native over a nextjs PWA?
I dig it
Really Great app!
Hey! You're that guy i saw on twitter!
Duolingo for depression
6:50 I like both the website and the app but at the same time it's kinda weird to her "The website was too ambitious, so we decided to stretch the resources even thinner and build two separate things." Are you totally scrapping the website and leaving it incomplete?
That's 100% what they're doing. I wouldn't expect any further updates on the website from here on out, especially since they mentioned that the gameplay loop itself was different on the app, meaning there's no feature parity or expectation to keep them in lockstep.
I think people use this only because you are the creator. honestly
This could be commented on every Dani video.
Did you develop it separately for iOS and Android? As in, did you use some intermediary stack to deploy it on both platforms or did you work on each individually?
React Native
mashAllah
did you use expo?
Bro iam also a fullstack app and web developer. I want to contribute in your future projects. How can I do that ?
Coool
