The resistor are meant to get hot, as they are part of the voltage regulator, along with the zenner diodes. What I would suggest is to replace the zenners with higher wattage ones, this would make them work cooler. Plugging into the FX returns shows that the problem lies in the preamp. Check the voltages to the ICs and also get a signal injector and start troubleshooting it from there. Hope you get it fixed. Good luck!
yes, i forgot to update tile and description. Short story: 100K resistor R19 right next to the valve was dead open. Replaced with another 100k 1/2W resistor and sure enough it became alive.
