Hi mate, 1080p, the magnification is around 6x, the new firmware upgrade allow you to electronic magnify it 3 times (2x, 2x, 2x like smartphone, it gets very blurry at highest though) which is handy, I was able to barely see my .22 hole at 100m daylight. Hi mate Bought one of these so watched your video on sighting in and you say 50yards/meters. This is OK for centerfires and powder burners ect ect but am planning to put it on a UK 12ftlbs air rifle for ratting at between 15 and 30 yards how do I calibrate it for these distances and power? Cheers phil
Hi Phil, I never mount it on air rifle before but I know it can take its recoil. The zeroing method in principle I believe should be similar. Stay with me since this is going to be a long reply. Before we start, beware you may need to do a scope firmware update to use the zeroing method I mentioned below. Some of the scopes were still using the very old firmware where the controls were assigned differently. At this time V6.25 is the latest firmware for the scope and the V6.26 is coming up very shortly according to my information. Regarding how to update it follow the instruction on the website you should be fine. www.wanney.com/Download For the zeroing paper, Wanney has taken my zeroing sheet design and changed it a bit. hk2dabb7-pic33.websiteonline.cn/upload/20211117-E5X50MZERODESIGN-V41-A4.pdf They call the windage “X” (which is the x axis) and elevation “Y” (which is the y axis), essentially same to the coordinate grid in math. Note its two page and each suits different environment so print both. What you need to know is X+ is to move the impact point to left, X- is right, Y+ is to move the impact point up, Y- is down. So, if my impact point on the zeroing paper is (x+21, y-17) which is on the top right corner, I need to use the right arrow key to do +21 and up arrow key to do -17 in order to zero. Now, this zeroing paper is designed for zeroing at 50m, but to use it for 30m I believe all you need to do is doubling or 1.5x the input. So, say your impact point on the zeroing paper is still (x+21, y-17), you should use the right arrow key to do +32 ( 21x1.5=31.5) and up arrow key to do -26 ( 17x1.5=25.5) in order to zero. You may have to fine tune a bit but essentially that’s the gesture. Oh, regarding execute the "Zeroing" command through the scope, you still just press and hold the "Shift" button for 10 seconds (Older firmware was 8 seconds, just hold it until you see something popped down the bottom of your screen, if nothing happens, you need to check your firmware, maybe very old) then you should see the "Now zeroing" pops up and you are able to adjust your elevation and windage compensations. I haven't used that for a while since I was doing it that in the APP because that's more user friendly for me, especially the fact you can see what your current elevation and windage number is (It actually display as and you can do + or - with the APP faster. And you can save that data in the file. If you interested to use the APP, then there is another way but that requires you to input all the correct ballistic related data of your rifle and ammo in to the APP. Say if you done that or did a valid best estimate input (by valid I mean you can test it out somehow). You can simply change the zeroing figure from 50m to any reasonable distance you desire and the reticle center will adjust to the new zeroing distance just like that. I can give your more detail should you want to test it out. Well, I hope this infor helps you out, let me know how you go, cheers!
Thank you for this post. I bought one of these and you post was instrumental in getting mine up and running correctly. Happy with the scope now.@@stillwindops2438
iam deciding to purchase this one you revived or the PQ1W not sure you know that one. but still i have to ask you if you would buy wanney again or you would go for something different ?
Hi yovi, Very good question! Let me share with you my view. For me, my budget was $1000 Aussie dollar (about 700 USD),my wife will kill me if I want to spend more than that. If money isn't an issue then I want to buy Gen 2+ or Gen 3 analog NV scope, I think they will be so much easier to use and perform much better. But if 700 USD is your budget, night hunting is what you intend to do, and you don't need military grade impact and water proof, willing to operate the complex controls like operating a smart phone, then go with Digital NV with a built in 940um IR flash light (940um light animal and human eye bearly able to see compare to a red glowing 850um which is very visible) Performance wise (see and recognize an animal 100-200 away) I think they better than analog Nv Gen1.5/Gen Core, the compromise is battery power, rigidness, and ease of use. I don't think any of them is easy to use and you just have to learn how to operate them. The videos I made for this wanney scope is actually manual not review, because the manual handbook sucks. I already bought the scope and want to utilize it properly and I thought they are people out there like me, that's why I did these videos. Since I haven't seen the PQ1W scope you mentioned I can't comment on that. With my limited experience with these Digital NV scopes I think they share a lot of similarities, just pick the one you like, if there are videos teach you how to zero the scope that's a big plus, that's always the hardest part. And will I buy wanney again? Yes is the answer. Because I have spent enough time and have learned how to use it properly know. Some features I want but it doesn't have, and its complicate to operate sometimes. But for the money I can't complain (you get what you paid for), and it works for my need. This E53 is their 3rd generation product, and it did improve a long way. (I have seen their 1st gen product on the gun show years ago and that was bad, a torture to play with) so they are learning too, I do look forward to see their next scope. Hope this helps, cheers.
Gracias.
Hi Sr. Talk more about the ballistics calculator parameters please!I I looked for more info on the wanney site, but it's too poor of content or no info to use! there are no instructions on how to set or use the scope! the only reference is your channel's video. Brazil whatching you! thank you.
Hi mate, I am currently working on the App video, bit complicated but fun to explore and takes a while to do. Hopefully will upload it next week. As for the ballistic caculation it's going to be a separate video and I need more time to do it right. But I will try to give you some brief content in the next couple of days. Cheers.
Hi Thomate, Greetings from Australia, I haven't forgot about you. Just been busy with the young kid and learning the ballistic caculator, also there is new App update from Wanney that suppose to allow you save multiple zeros information. My understanding is you can save zero for different ammo in same caliber and even for different calibers. (Need to verify). I understand the basics of the ballistic now and will write you some key points around this weekend. I plan to make a video about it maybe end of December or next year January because I need someone to verify in practice (I don't have the time nor the skill) A friend has already agree to test it on a .308w in December for me. So let's see how that go. Cheers!
Hi Thomate, Here is the ballistic calculation information you have been waiting for. 1st thing is update your APP to the latest version V1.22 Android, iOS not sure may be later. I haven’t test it myself which a friend will help me in December, so everything I told you is what I gathered from emails with Wanney. I think I got them right but please don’t blame me if incorrect. Trajectory Parameter: Suitable for shooting in stationed position, all parameter has effects on trajectory. Target Range, assume you zeroed at 50m as recommended, this change the middle aim point to the distance of your choice. Set it to the distance you want to shoot eg.100m, 200m Target Angle, input what’s on the right corner of the screen, aim upslope is “+” number, downslope is “-” Wind Velocity is to set muzzle wind (wind near muzzle) in meter per second m/s or mile per hour miles/hours where wind from left to right (3 o’clock to 9 o’clock) is “+” number, wind from right to left (9 o’clock to 3 o’clock) is “-” number. Relative Humidity affects air drag on the projectile, if not sure set at 85% (it’s considered a relatively average number), but its recommend to know the correct number, a hygrometer is handy to have. Default resets all setting should you want to start over. Trajectory Parameters Setup, Target range parameter is the only setting once changed is saved instantly, the other parameters does not save until you press this Trajectory Parameters Setup button.
Bullet Information: Every correct information makes the calculation more accurate, some information not so accurate does not have huge impact, and however some information if totally wrong will cause significate difference. Better get it right strong effect on calculation. Ballistic Coefficient, this data you should be able to find out from the cartridge manufacture’s website such as Winchester or Federal. Note cartridge such as most of standard velocity .22LR where the ballistic coefficient is lower than 0.2, this parameter is unable to compensate since 0.2 is lowest it can go, but you wouldn’t shoot .22LR too far anyways I suppose. Ballistic Model, again google it, but mostly if its round head like .22LR or 9mm parabellum choose G1, if its convex tip like .223REM or .308Win choose G7. Bullet Caliber, this I don’t think anyone have trouble with. Muzzle Velocity, this you will need get a ballistic chronograph to find out and record it yourself. I don’t have one so I will get a friend to help later. One theory I am trying to work on is to take an average number online, say the velocity of a .308W federal metal gold which is tested with 24” barrel and reduce a bit on that (I use 168gr with 20” barrel so my velocity is definitely going to be lower). So far from what I have been told. If the correct velocity 650 m/s but you input 620 m/s in the calculation, your bullet impact point will be higher than what it should be. So maybe you can try to educated guess your correct muzzle velocity. I will try to verify that later, it’s still just a theory at the moment. Bullet Weight, this I don’t think anyone have trouble with. Default, resets all setting should you want to start over. Load, load a Bullet Information file where you previous saved. Save, save this Bullet Information file with a specific name, like .22LR Win Power point or .308W Federal M Gold. (switching between guns is what I am thinking ^^) Bullet Infor Setup, nothing is saved until you press this Bullet Infor Setup button. Password is 876543210 Zeroing Yes you can input zeroing set up here instead of on the scope. Best check my zeroing videos first. Whats worth mention is CursorX (which is elevation has 180 PIXELs. How much when convert to MOA or MIL, not sure, let me check and get back to you later.) CurosrY (which is windage has 360 PIXELs, yes it’s funny it has way more adjustment units than elevation, but it’s because of the shape of the screen ^^). X + is left, X - is right, Y+ is up Y - is down. And you can save zero setting now (the important update in this APP update) just like bullet information which is cool. I hope this helps, cheers!

Hi yovi,
Very good question!
But if 700 USD is your budget, night hunting is what you intend to do, and you don't need military grade impact and water proof, willing to operate the complex controls like operating a smart phone, then go with Digital NV with a built in 940um IR flash light (940um light animal and human eye bearly able to see compare to a red glowing 850um which is very visible)
Performance wise (see and recognize an animal 100-200 away) I think they better than analog Nv Gen1.5/Gen Core, the compromise is battery power, rigidness, and ease of use.
Cheers!
Hi Thomate,
Here is the ballistic calculation information you have been waiting for.
1st thing is update your APP to the latest version V1.22 Android, iOS not sure may be later. I haven’t test it myself which a friend will help me in December, so everything I told you is what I gathered from emails with Wanney. I think I got them right but please don’t blame me if incorrect.
Trajectory Parameter:
Suitable for shooting in stationed position, all parameter has effects on trajectory.
Target Range, assume you zeroed at 50m as recommended, this change the middle aim point to the distance of your choice. Set it to the distance you want to shoot eg.100m, 200m
Target Angle, input what’s on the right corner of the screen, aim upslope is “+” number, downslope is “-”
Wind Velocity is to set muzzle wind (wind near muzzle) in meter per second m/s or mile per hour miles/hours where wind from left to right (3 o’clock to 9 o’clock) is “+” number, wind from right to left (9 o’clock to 3 o’clock) is “-” number.
Bullet Information:
Every correct information makes the calculation more accurate, some information not so accurate does not have huge impact, and however some information if totally wrong will cause significate difference.
(switching between guns is what I am thinking ^^)
Bullet Infor Setup, nothing is saved until you press this Bullet Infor Setup button. Password is 876543210
Zeroing
Yes you can input zeroing set up here instead of on the scope.

Hola, lamento responderte tarde, no vi tu mensaje antes.

Hi mate, sorry I wasn't able to reply at the time. Had my first daughter and wasn't able to attend anything else for a while. I did pass on the excel spreadsheet to the owner of Wanney and I believe they upgrade that to a A3 sized spreadsheet which now came with the product. If you still want the original A4 sized sheet I can try to email you. Cheers.

is possible to zeroing at 25m? how can i do that?
Hi Andre,
Stay with me since this is going to be a long reply.
Before we start, beware you may need to do a scope firmware update to use the zeroing method I mentioned below. Some of the scopes were still using the very old firmware where the controls were assigned differently. We are now at version 6.27 which is a very good upgrade, a few new features I found it very interesting.
Regarding how to update it follow the instruction on the website you should be fine.
www.wanney.com/Download
For the zeroing paper, Wanney has taken my zeroing sheet design and changed it a bit.
hk2dabb7-pic33.websiteonline.cn/upload/20211117-E5X50MZERODESIGN-V41-A4.pdf
They call the windage “X” (which is the x axis) and elevation “Y” (which is the y axis), essentially same to the coordinate grid in math. Note its two page and each suits different environment so print both.
What you need to know is X+ is to move the impact point to left, X- is right, Y+ is to move the impact point up, Y- is down.
So, For example, if my impact point on the zeroing paper is (x+21, y-17) which is on the top right corner, I need to use the right arrow key to do +21 and up arrow key to do -17 in order to zero.
Now, this zeroing paper is designed for zeroing at 50m, but to use it for 25m I believe all you need to do is doubling the input. So, say your impact point on the zeroing paper is still (x+21, y-17), you should use the right arrow key to do +42 ( 21x2=42) and up arrow key to do -34 ( 17x2=34) in order to zero.

@@stillwindops2438 Is possible to configure the 17hmr on this scope? I can't find it on the ballistic table
@@woop3r88 Hi Andre, You are right as the App hasn't got the latest caliber list which includes .17.
The latest scope firmware however has the caliber list start with .15. So if you have updated the firmware of the scope to the latest version. You can press the menu key a few times until you see the Menu display, inside you will see the ballistic setup where you can key in 017 for the caliber. Pretty sure they will update the App later to have the listing updated too.
Hope this helps, cheers!
