Awesome Bus. Another dream that was not finished. I know I have the same problem. You grow old, only to find out your body isn't young anyone. Got 87 GTI 3/4 restored than has been sitting for 15yrs. I'm 75 and can't finish my dream. Keep finishing peoples dreams. Love your channel.
Good evening friend, I'm talking about Brazil, I love these videos about finding old cars and renovating them, I'm looking forward to seeing the next chapters.
Jason, that is amazing how little rust there is. I read through the comments and didn't see your question answered, so I will. 28-1 PICT is for a late 1200cc engine. Nice has a 6 volt choke, seems like most Volkswagens converted to 12 volt. I converted Dad's 1964 Beetle back to 6 volt (several times said how much he regretted converting and I grew up disliking it), though being on SSI, the choke was too low priority so only part that didn't get changed. Got to get her back on the road and the machine shop, last one machining in camshaft bearing saddles (RIMCO is no more), didn't do any of the machining right so been costly financially and time; at least had a local get the case back, wasn't finding any 1300cc cases. At least really enjoy rebuilding engines, hopefully third time rebuilding this case be a charm. 😆
Needs some work but I know you have seen worse. Lots of good parts as you have said, after the double cab I would love to see this get built out and running. Maybe even a full restoration? 😀
Nice find! At first i was disappointed that it wasn't lost in the woods, but then it was missing a transmission. Its always more fun to watch when theres potential disaster in store.

hi Ron, another thing most people do not understand is how much time it takes to respond to comments. I do my best to respond to them all but even I don't get to them all. It is hours on a small channel like mine. Mustie1 could spend days responding to his and that takes away from creating content . He might have new VW series coming soon, if we land it :). Thank you for dropping in, i appreciate it
I had the same one in the early eighties. Coming back from camping trip in NJ, I broke down just at the apex on the Throggs Neck. I don't know how I knew what was wrong, but I went right for a spare set of points in the glove box. Jumped out, opened the cap, and sure enough; the points were broken in half. Bing bang boom; the old ones out and the new ones in. Used my matchbook to set'em and off we go. Just getting off the bridge and on to the Belt Parkway when three Port Authority cops surround me. I didn't get written up, but they sure read me the riot act. Just so everyone knows; back then they would push you off the bridge with their push truck, not caring what they broke doing it. Picture your nice shiny chrome mufflers being rammed under your front seat. Would not surprise me if that is still how it's done.
Last year of the splitty.... My father bought a T2 in 68... A huge different in confort. I was 20 years of age then, and drove both... Good old days.... Greetings from Holland!
Westfalia is always a special bus. Nice rescue, I love the treasure in all those boxes, maybe the emblem is somewhere in there. Greetings from France !
A friends father had a 69 van. We were going to go to Woodstock in 69. I didn't go cause the draft gave me a low lottery number. Stayed in college over the summer so I would not be drafted.
117th! HAD TO HAVE ALL THE BRAKES FIXED WITH ALL NEW PARTS BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE LOCKING UP AFTER DRIVING IT. 007 is back to working order, and back to be the reliable 67 that it has been since new! Long time subscriber! Roger in Pierre South Dakota USA
Wow that honestly doesn’t look that bad. Oh geez I think all these old VWs have a spaghetti harness 🤦🏼♂️ That frame honestly does look good…or not terrible 😁 I think it came with a 30/pict2 Double cab time!! It honestly is solid for a north eastern!
That is looking quite solid and you have most of the parts I think. Yes it is a shame when people take things apart sometimes but you can get new nuts and bolts. Nice find Jason, thanks for the update. 👍👍
Mate no wild animal shit - you are on a roll. 😂😂😂 - 67 SW Its a good one - you got some difficult choice - IMO stay focussed on the double cab. (the blue Euro and the Herbie clone are still keepers 💪)
I don’t remember complaining to my dad about lug bolts on my 64 VW in 1976 but I complained about them yesterday on my 2013 bug after a day of replacing front struts. I love the white van with very little rust for up here in the north east. I’m in NY. And OMG on the parts collection.
Sweet Unit, I watch another Channel called Adventures Made From Scratch and he is from Kansas I think, and if he sees even some tarnish on a pumper he calls the vehicle a rust bucket, I like your take on things, you can see through it and its "Not too Bad"
Middle seat score! Opening that ashtray in the back of the seat brings back memories, always thought it was asking to burn holes to put it there. Even as a kid. Is the middle seat from a later bus? Upholstery looks like from a bay bus.
Nice, nice, nice camper cabinets, sink, closet, header, panels, etc, plus a spare 3 rib bus tranny, plus all of the trim,glass,etc,etc,etc.. Good buy no matter what the price for a split window, big 5,camper bus inpretty good condid, that ROLLS,and with some rust rocker areas... I'd have thrown money at this bus all day long even though Jen will prolly be throwing something else at J when he gets home with it.. 😂 .. On a side note, does J have any not covered yard left without German metal on it ??
Hi Jason from England. There's a question I've been wondering about every time, whilst watching your last few videos. All we see is you collecting the vehicles - we never know what happens to them. Do you sell them on? Occasionally we're treated to those great resto videos with Larry, but where do the rest of the vehicles go? Maybe a few minutes of video of them as they go to the new owners might be good? Cheers anyway fella, carry on doing your thing - we love it. x
My buddy bought one from a stoner in '80 for 100 bucks. Some concert in London Ontario. Drove it north to my folks in Peterborough area. The shifter was out, had no power and we had to push it uphill. Next morning discovered the floor pan was rotted. I suggested a 2x4 between the shifter and e-brake for support. Fuckin thing almost popped a wheelie. Good times... So what's your plan, acid bath and survey first? Thanks for posting.
I have two SO 42s and why are they always pearl white? All four of my buses are pearl white I don’t get it. Whatever you do, don’t throw those tan aluminum squares away they are the interior trim for the Heloise windows ! Again, another really hard to find item and not cheap. Sadly, almost the entire interior is gone that’s gonna be a difficult one if you’re trying to make it all original. You seem to have access to a lot more than we do even out here in Southern California. I go to every OCTO show and Pomona swap meet and I have only seen an S.O. 42 complete interior once in the past 15 years . Congrats on the find!
@@5150mxVW yeah eventually saw that. There isn’t an extra ice box in there is there, is there?😂. I have a non-walk-through icebox I’d be willing to trade I need a walk-through box.

I have one just like it sitting in my garage right now. In exactly the same shape completely disassembled. It’s been that way for 20 years.😢
Holy Crap! It has DOGLEGS!!! Amazing! A keeper for sure, and I am not being sarcastic at all!
Jason, thank you for rescuing the VDub bus, and preserving a piece of automotive history!!!!
Cant wait you mentioned ANOTHER car at the place you got the bus.
and it's an " indoor car " .... ohhhh lala haha :)
AWESOME!!!!!! Keep them coming!@@5150mxVW
Need to post a vid showing the whole fleet. I'm like, this guy is finding another VW this week, again. Must be a large collection.
Jen wouldn’t like that.

And to think I turned down one like this that was 98% rust free for $1k back in the 90’s. Those were the days.
Love the bus, great find. It went to the best place possible!

Distilled vinegar does a great job of cleaning rusty hardware. May take a few days.
yes, apple cider vinegar, one of my faves, great tip....just have to neutralize the acid with distilled water and baking soda or it will flash rust.
Nice find. I always wonder what happened to the engine when it's not with the bus.
thank you, I bought 2 blocks and another engine that are in another garage with another bus....hopefully one of those cases is it's org engine .
You are one of the few to correctly pronounce "jalousie". Well done, and nice find! Not too many out there in the wild anymore unfortunately.
