There are memes that are hilarious and then there are those that are just straight up fucked up without even trying to be funny. Or they tried to be too "edgy", but it failed so hard that it just shows their true personality and horrible belief in something unironically.
Pushpop LoC But who are you to decide whether something is funny or not. I for one think that the most fucked up ones are the funniest but its my opinion. For the most part, I don't think someones education or career, something very important, should be held back because they made a joke.
Skylar Desmire People get fired all the time for posting shit online, not so different that they get their college admission revoked for that shit too. If people take great offense and the humor doesn't follow the school's image then the school can do whatever they want. I agree that people should be able to make edgy jokes like the students did cause they're just jokes but that's unfortunately not the way it works.

When I applied for university in 2011, my teachers warned about how schools would and jobs would check up on people's social media. So either these kids were ignorant about the repercussions or they were just done.

The reason behind withdrawing the acceptance was because of the negative image it would have on a school as prestigious as Harvard. And being a private institution they can do what they want since they follow their own agenda. I think it was a bit harsh to withdraw the acceptance but I can see why they did it
Why was Geo getting heated? A lot of coffee shops are manly employed by women. Also, when was the last time you saw a female sailor, it's just not common. I found that part of this episode absurd.

geez, there's more tension in this room than Julia's middle button.
It's a shitty situation for them but this teaches people - particularly young individuals - that one mistake can have severe consequences. But I can't really shit on Harvard because they're a private institution looking for students with certain characteristics. It's like a Christian college wanting Christians, not a bunch of atheists attending. So while I believe they're totally entitled to denying admission for such behavior, I don't think they should ever be blacklisted. Perhaps they should be given a chance to right their wrongs by allowing them to apply the following year.

My opinion; "but there are so many topics that just should not be joked about" humour is subjective which is what makes comedy so great, there are no limitations to it depending on the perspective of an individual but overally there is no such thing as "crossing the line" because you can't limit someone's imagination or creative thinking no matter how offensive it is just because in your own subjective mindset you find these jokes immorale - "those actions really spoke about the students true character" - Everyone has fucked up thoughts but that doesnt make them a bad person once you take your thoughts into action you will face consequences depending on the act - so no these jokes are merely the student's form of comedy which should not be taken seriously presuming they have not taken their "dark humour" into action which speaks louder than words
