Nice tip. If something like this came up and it wasn't a lot of money, you could give to one of the kids (HS or college) as a project to see how the world works. I did this a few years back with some Sears (S) stock certificates that were buried in a file cabinet. My nephew eventually got a couple hundred bucks for doing the legwork. He also hopefully got a valuable lesson.
We had a hell of a time clearing out my father in laws stock from computer share. Luckily we found all of the physical shares hidden throughout his house 🤦. But all the other hoops sucked
I feel your pain! Have worked with a number of clients through the process. I have one right now that lost a certificate so there is a bunch of extra steps. Major pain.

Yes. I bought some stock this way and need to clean this up. Some of these companies had stock spits and now I have tiny positions in new companies.
