Great video & excitement. Amazon actually stopped shipping the device for a week or two because of the issue/complaints. I think “good e-reader” did a video on the issues. Glad yours is a winner! 👏🏻👏🏻
I am going to place an order anyway because I love the idea of highlighting in different colors and being able to view highlighted sections by color. I won't switch to Kobo because I have so many books in Kindle and I don't mind Amazon as a company. Thank you for this video!
I will probably uploaded my full review next week. I don’t dislike the Colorsoft, generally speaking . But I really like my Scribe and, all things considered, I think the Paperwhite Signature edition would have been the better choice for me. I hope you enjoy Kindle.
My Colorsoft has a yellow tinge on the bottom of the screen. I notice it more when I am viewing the screen from an angle. I am going to return it and stick with my Kindle Oasis, which I find more ergonomic.
I’ve read that turning the auto light adjustment on and putting the screen under a strong light rectifies the yellow tinge .. don’t know if this really works but it’s worth a try .
I can see it right on yours. It is not a line. It is a color gradient that starts as warm amber, then slowly changes to white as you go up the screen, and then it in fact skews colder pink as you get all the way to top. Try turning the unit upside-down: at that angle it's easier to notice the issue at the bottom.
@@anotherbibliophilereads At 1:25, where you're talking about the time left in the chapter. The problem is taking a video or photograph can minimize the issue, and your room lighting affects it as well. But if you just take a look down there, then take a look all the way at the top of your Colorsoft, you'll see how the bottom has a slight "coffee stain" hue, where the top is more brilliant and cold in hue.
@@glauer42I’m not seeing it. Maybe a glare from the ceiling light. Asked another person to look and she can’t see any demarcation either. If it’s there I might have to rethink personal vision question. Maybe others will chime in.
I can confirm your kindle has it too. It's more of a very faint gradient at the bottom of the page as opposed to a line. I have it on mine too. To me, it looks more like a slight yellowing of a page like you might see on an old second hand book. Personally, I don't mind it, I think it adds character, so I'm not upset by it. I'll let Amazon work out their fix and then send it back for a replacement as and when.
@@spookyatthemovies1193 Exactly right on how it looks. With time you just sort of accept it the way one accepts old mass market paperbacks yellow with age, but for $300? Not acceptable. Amazon claims they're going to call me when new stock gets in. I'm doubtful they'll do it, but I'm sure Reddit will be buzzing once that day comes.
Lil' things like this--such as broken shoelaces and leaving an empty package of Oreos in the cupboard after eating the last one--have been known to drive people to murder. Cheers, Greg.
Yes the yellowing is def there on your kindle, once you see it you can’t ignore it. It’s not terrible but it is distracting but overtime you probably would ignore it. Mine is worse than yours - even my wife notices it from a few feet away, Amazon are replacing mine when the new stock comes in with the better screen. If you have an email I will send photos of my device and the yellow gradients. You would def see it then lol.
I would like it see it. I've added standard contact info to this video description. You're not the first to say the yellow line is on my kindle, but neither my wife nor I see it. Thanks for commenting.
I guesssss mine has it? I don't think I would have noticed it if everyone wasn't talking about it, but mine maybe looks like you just see the light there more. It is not something that bothers me, especially since it isn't on the text. I also don't see yours...so maybe it is my eyes. I'm also used to reading physically, where pages aren't usually only white. The "grainyness" also doesn't bother me, and I feel a little guilty for liking my device just fine. Glad it doesn't bother you or your wife!
This was really interesting, Greg. I don't see anything yellow on yours either. I'm glad yours seems to be fine. I'll be curious to hear your review of this. I was going to ask you which Kindle you recommend, but I'll wait til you review this one.
It’s a device problem Amazon have stopped selling in UK. They have been discussing possibility of a software solution. It’s most obvious when you have a non yellow screen on full brightness. Apparently the hypothesis is that some units if not all are not shutting off all the colour when it’s meant to be a white screen. It doesnt show up that well via video but it is visible and more obvious on some units possibly made worse by placement of lights on reader. Update apparently it’s the adhesive that’s the problem which reacts to certain heats etc. Amazon are suggesting a software fix which I assume means making ALL units when they update software looking more yellow 😂 which is hardly a fix in my opinion this kindle costs £269 in U.K. so far from cheap. I believe Amazon should recall all units and make new kindles with a more suitable adhesive

I did like the Oasis but the battery on my device eventually gave up the ghost after a few years and I replaced it with a Paperwhite.

@@glauer42 Can you do me a favor and give me a timestamp where you see the issue. I want to get more eyes taking a look at it.

I have recently seen photos where the tint is more pronounced. Still not a complete dealbreaker for me, but Amazon will have to fix it.

I have seen photos of other devices where the issue more pronounced. It’s curious that there can be this manufacturing anomaly.
Yes it’s not worth it 😂
